State Elections in Germany, Merkel’s Doomsday Is Approaching

State Elections in Germany, Merkel’s Doomsday Is Approaching | Global politics | Scoop.it
Forthcoming elections in three German states will determine if Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel is still strong or will be supplanted by a new leader.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

Frau Merkel is burnt out. Her huge blunder into welcoming potentially millions of so-called refugees without further checking, and the fact that most of them are not refugees but rather economic migrants and many infiltrated "sleepy" would-be terrorists, along with backward inmature youngsters in fighting age who don't respect European behaviour, has destroyed her credit. Her insistence in keeping self-defeating and costly anti-Russian sanctions has angered the business world and many sectors of the population. And her humbling and bowing to the blackmail of the dangerous madman Erdogan, giving him even 3bn euros, is the latest of the drops filling the cup. She has lost all her credit, and she should be sent into pension before she continues harming Europe and Germany.

Syrian President Bashar Assad on Monday described the Syrian opposition delegation formed in Saudi Arabia as a group of 'terrorists and traitors' and said he would not negotiate with them.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

Well done, the President of Syria has some dignity, the Saudi-funded killers are vicious killers and they don't belong in a table, only in jail, like their Saudi masters.

Why Putin’s Strategy in Syria Wins Over and Over Again

Why Putin’s Strategy in Syria Wins Over and Over Again | Global politics | Scoop.it
Roland Lombardi, an independent consultant on Middle East issues, explained why Russia is playing some of the strongest cards in the Middle East and is likely to score a strategic victory in the region.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

Tierney’s point of view is biased and lacks credibility.

"It portrays the world like many so-called 'analysts' and 'experts' want to see it, and provides no real picture of the world. In the beginning of the Syrian crisis many of them wrote that Moscow will abandon Bashar Assad and he will be toppled in two weeks. And what do we see now?" he said.

Article: Is Bernie Sanders Promising "Free Stuff" To Buy Votes?

Article: Is Bernie Sanders Promising 'Free Stuff' To Buy Votes? - Conservatives claim that Sanders is trying to 'buy votes' when he tells people they can have 'free stuff' like free college tuition. But in a democracy, what does this mean? Politicians don't 'give' things to the public; the public votes for representatives who are supposed to do what the public wants.

Quicklink: In Bernie's America, the people rule - Quicklink:
As far as Scholars & Rogues Writer Joshua Booth sees things, the 2016 Presidential Election is as much about voting against tyranny as it is voting in a qualified, just and good leader. 'There is only one presidential candidate,
out of a double digit field, who is willing to stand up to American
economic tyranny, vowing to protect civil liberties, disrupt media hegemony, stop the outsourcing of customer service jobs, and make significant change to the justice system to address the obvious lack of racial justice,' Booth writes in this dynamic and concise opinion.

Bad Idea? Merkel's 'Reckless' Game With Turkey May Backfire on EU

Bad Idea? Merkel's 'Reckless' Game With Turkey May Backfire on EU | Global politics | Scoop.it
When it comes to dealing with Turkey and trying to solve the ongoing refugee crisis in Europe, German Chancellor Angela Merkel shouldn’t talk to Turkey on behalf of the entire European Union (EU), French political analyst Didier Billion told Atlantico.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

This is the ultimate indignity: To bow to Erdogan's blackmail. Turkey is a rogue state who opened its gates to hundread os thousands of migrants and encouraged them into Europe, and a rogue state musn't be accommodated with money and political encouragement, but isolated and sanctioned.

Argentine physicians claim Monsanto larvicide is true cause of microcephaly

Quicklink: Argentine physicians claim Monsanto larvicide is true cause of microcephaly - Quicklink:
An Argentine physicians' group has come forward to challenge the notion that the mosquito-spread Zika virus is responsible for a recent increase in Brazilian baby malformations. The report further noted that malformations have been detected in thousands of children from pregnant women living in areas where the Brazilian state added pyriproxyfen to drinking water and say that it 'is not a coincidence.' It condemns the Ministry of Health for blaming the Zika virus, further noting that of 3,893 cases of malformations confirmed until late January, 49 children have died and only five of them were confirmed to have been infected with Zika.
