Understanding the fundamental roots of conflict and suffering: An interview with Rich Forer

Understanding the fundamental roots of conflict and suffering: An interview with Rich Forer | Global politics | Scoop.it
Rich Forer is a former member of AIPAC who has orthodox relatives living in West Bank settlements, yet today he is a strong advocate for Palestinian rights. Forer is the author of the book 'Breakthrough: Transforming Fear into Compassion A New Perspective on the Israel-Palestine Conflict' and Katie Miranda interviews him about how the concept of the “psycho-spiritual roots of conflict” helps explain why some Israel supporters think and behave the way they do. Miranda says, We can take the easy route and brush them off as crazy and racist. It’s much harder to look at the roots and even to identify similar qualities in ourselves.

Reflections on the Brussels attack

Reflections on the Brussels attack | Global politics | Scoop.it
Richard Falk writes that the Brussels attack for which ISIS claimed responsibility exhibits the new face of 21st century warfare for which there are no front lines, no path to military victory, and acute civilian vulnerability. As such, it represents a radical challenge to our traditional understanding of warfare, and unless responses are shaped by these realities, it could drive Western democracies step by step into an enthused political embrace and revived actuality of fascist politics.

Enrique Ferro's insight:
It has destroyed more than enough! Now the Syrians, the real Syrians, who love their country and haven't abandoned it in this hour of need, or worse, collaborated with the invaders to destroy it, the real Syrians will rebuild it as much as it is possible, collecting every single stone, and fixing all of them together, on behalf of the people and the great man that was Khalid al-Asaad, the retired chief of antiquities for Palmyra, grisly murdered by the Turkey-Saudi-supported barbarians.

We All Are Islamic State - NationofChange | Progressive Change Through Positive Action

We All Are Islamic State - NationofChange | Progressive Change Through Positive Action | Global politics | Scoop.it
The killings in Brussels or Paris and the killings in U.S. military strikes in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Syria or Libya perpetuate the same dark lusts. The savage tit-for-tat game will not end until we rouse ourselves from our hypnotized state.
Enrique Ferro's insight:
The premisses of the analysis are flawed. The West bombed through regime change and/or used fanatic Jihadist militias. The targets were secular or reforming states, such as Iraq, Libya or Syria. But no partisan of Gaddafi or Assad or even Saddam has come over to bomb our cities and masssacre our citizens. It was the very Jihadists the West funded, armed, and trained to the purpose and intent of toppling the secular and prosperous regimes we didn't like. So it is not tit for tat, but rather a characteristic process of the creature hating its creator, as told in Dr. Frankenstein. It is the imperialist merit to have engineered the blowback which is now hitting us.

When the announcement of a partial withdrawal was made I was as surprised as anyone. I thought: Daesh is not been defeated, the threat of Ankara doing something extraordinary has not disappeared, the Syrian Army still needs air support to liberate other parts of the country, I can't believe that Putin trusts either Washington's promises or its ability to fulfil them.

Austrian Parliament cancels International Women’s Day event following attacks on Hedy Epstein

Austrian Parliament cancels International Women’s Day event following attacks on Hedy Epstein | Global politics | Scoop.it
Today, International Women's Day, the Austrian Parliament was scheduled to hold an event called In Grandmothers' Words. This event would have joined eight female WWII witnesses from around the world in Vienna in an unprecedented opportunity for the public to hear their experiences regarding specific topics, such as the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, the Uprising in Warsaw, and the Blitz in London. However, fueled by a biased article about Hedy Epstein, who was scheduled to appear, the event was cancelled. A protest emerged in an open letter originating from the Austrian public and with strong international support: over 180 signatures from 19 countries, including almost 50 Austrians and eminent figures.

Article: Brazil, like Russia, under attack by Hybrid War - Color revolutions would never be enough; Exceptionalistan is always on the lookout for major strategic upgrades capable of ensuring perpetual Empire of Chaos hegemony. The ideological matrix and the modus operandi of color revolutions by now are a matter of public domain. Not so much the concept of Unconventional War (UW). UW was spelled out by the 2010 Special Forces Unconventional Warfare manual.
