Article: For my friends who think it's important (now) to elect HRC and take back the Senate - a short history lesson | Global politics | Scoop.it
Article: For my friends who think it's important (now) to elect HRC and take back the Senate - a short history lesson - In a nutshell, Obama and the Democratic party came in at an FDR moment and instead of changing direction, quickly demonstrated their loyalty to the big money.
Enrique Ferro's insight:
Foreign policy under Obama and Hillary continued to look a lot like the Bush years. By more or less following Bush's timetable for withdrawal, the Democrats could claim fewer "boots on the ground" in Iraq. But military involvement (and remote control killing) expanded all over the region and beyond, giving assorted jihadists in more places a continuing raison d'etre while draining U.S. resources, reducing credibility, and making life miserable for the vast majority of Muslims (and others) in the Middle East and much of Africa. People who, like Americans and people everywhere, aren't that interested in politics or ideologies and want nothing more than to go about the difficult enough job of making a decent life for their families.

Article: Empire of Chaos meets Global Dracula: Trashing Democracy: What is Our Way Out? | Global politics | Scoop.it
Article: Empire of Chaos meets Global Dracula: Trashing Democracy: What is Our Way Out? - A long-overdue presentation of the only concept that could possibly save humanity from certain extinction, this article is a call to endorse the Earth Constitution, which would lead to a World Parliament, giving the left the necessary tools to effect meaningful change. A must tread!
Enrique Ferro's insight:
"Terrorism is a consequence of this globalized Empire of Chaos: the more chaos the more terrorism." Indeed. But not just as a reaction against the Empire, but as an auxiliary force to enforce chaos ... Global Dracula...Varoufakis calls it Global Minotaur. Nice labels. They show off for whom the establishment politicians and media are working.

Article: Baiting The Bear: NATO and Russia

Article: Baiting The Bear: NATO and Russia | Global politics | Scoop.it
Article: Baiting The Bear: NATO and Russia - From Moscow's point of view, the U.S. is continuing to spread its network of anti-missile systems in Europe and Asia, which the Russians see as a threat to their nuclear force (as does China). And as far as 'reneging' goes, it was the U.S. that dumped the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty, not Russia.
Enrique Ferro's insight:
Under these conditions the most dangerous would be Hillary as President. She would be easily manipulated (or not, as she is what she is) by the neocons and warlibs. She is a warmonger, "hawkish", herself, and she would lack Obama's cautious brinkmanship, she would take military options harshly and imperviously. And she is careless, corrupt, and arrogant and adventurous.

Progressives Don’t Let Friends Vote Neocon

Progressives Don’t Let Friends Vote Neocon | Global politics | Scoop.it
By L. Randall Wray

The drumbeat is quickening as Hillary’s surrogates insist that Bernie’s supporters fall in line. Bernie’s chances are said to be hopeless. Continuing to run only plays into the hands of truly despicable Republicans.
Enrique Ferro's insight:
Time to unite behind Hillary, and let her move further to the right. No more talk of revolution, of trillions of dollars of new spending, of significant increases to the minimum wage. Let’s talk about Hillary’s issues: regime change abroad, downsizing dreams at home, and protecting Wall Street from the pitchforks. Some Hillary surrogates are even talking about retribution for Bernie supporters.

Article: Luther: Savior of Christianity or Destroyer of It?

Article: Luther: Savior of Christianity or Destroyer of It? | Global politics | Scoop.it
Article: Luther: Savior of Christianity or Destroyer of It? - Kant was vague in his definition of Enlightenment, but that defect pales beside the monumental error committed by Nietzsche in his assessment of the historical role of Luther.
Enrique Ferro's insight:
Pre-Enlightenment (aka Traditional) society rested on four major assumptions: Revelation, Scripture, Tradition, and Authority. That is, there is a God with a personality and an agenda (Revelation), the existence of which we discover through a Scripture (Torah, Gospel, Kor'an), which cannot be read or understood without the light provided by Tradition (Oral Law, Magisterium, Hadith, Sunna), as that is made accessible to us by Authority figures (rabbi, priest, minister, mullah).

Political Infighting: Erdogan Party Strips Power From Davutoglu

Political Infighting: Erdogan Party Strips Power From Davutoglu | Global politics | Scoop.it
In the latest sign of Turkey’s slide toward dictatorship, the ruling AK Party has taken steps to remove power from Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and to consolidate authority behind embattled President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Enrique Ferro's insight:
Erdogan is throwing Turkey to the path of civil war. His strengthening of party control, and the Islamist change of the Constitution will not improve the situation. Besides his blackmail over the EU, for all Merkel's subservience, will not pay out under such circumstances, as most European governments will stand back. Even Merkel's position will be shaken.

Article: Prepared Remarks -- National Press Club - It's incumbent upon super delegates to take a hard and objective look at which candidate stands the better chance of defeating Trump. Article: What Is Bernie's Price for Playing Nice?

Article: What Is Bernie's Price for Playing Nice? | Global politics | Scoop.it
Article: What Is Bernie's Price for Playing Nice? - Sanders understands that Hillary will almost certainly win the nomination and has once again promised that he would vote for her against Trump or any other Republican. He is playing nice, but he will not play dead. pressed on whether his own attacks on Hillary for taking money from Wall Street did not imply that she was crooked, he simply smiled. 'In that case,' he said, 'the entire United States government is crooked.'
Enrique Ferro's insight:
"But, like her or not, she has shown herself more cautious, circumspect, and open to dissuasion by allies than Trump would ever be." I beg to differ, not about Trump, as he is an unknown, and nobody knows what he will do, not even himself! About Clinton. The above paragraph is wishful thinking. You know it is not true. Cautious? Circumspect? Open to dissuassion? Give me a break! Think of Libya, her war of choice! And what it brought. If open to dissuassion means to follow enthusiastically Sarkozy's line... Has she ever been cautious as far as Syria is concerned?Thank goodness she is no longer at the DoS! She was for a Libya-like intervention after the rebel-chemical attack false flag, and later she has been supporting Erdogan for his demand of a free-flight zone (as Libya started) on Syria. Was she circumspect in her engineered coup in Honduras? And so on and so for. She is reckless and careless, as Obama labelled her e-mail pericoli (I suspect corruption, backdoor info to her donors...). She has been called the Goddess of War. If elected President, she will seek a showdown against Russia in Syria, probably in Ukraine. She will be pushed by her neocon allies, which is why they are supporting her rather than Trump. Cross fingers, Winter is Coming.

Hillary to Bernie: You Smear Me When You Tell the Truth - NationofChange | Progressive Change Through Positive Action

Hillary to Bernie: You Smear Me When You Tell the Truth - NationofChange | Progressive Change Through Positive Action | Global politics | Scoop.it
If you accept big money, you know it always comes with strings attached. The more big money you accept, the more strings, until no matter how much you resist, you end up dancing like a puppet on those strings.
Enrique Ferro's insight:
goodsensecynic •  I seem to recall a woman named Thatcher. She was the first female Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. She was certainly no progressive. As someone said the other day. "I am a feminist. That's why I am supporting Bernie Sanders, not Hillary Clinton." Note to Black, Latino, liberal, LGBT and working-class Americans: Ms. Clinton backed: (a) the vast expansion of US prisons; (b) supported "workfare"; (c) endorsed the repeal of Glass-Steagal (hence enabling the banksters); (d) voted for Bush's attack on Iraq; (e) supervised the bombing of Libya (which is now half-run by al-Qaeda); (f) backed the "Protection of Marriage Act" and the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" military fiasco; (g) oversaw the coup against the democratically elected government of Honduras; etc., etc., etc. Meanwhile, when Ms. Clinton was a "Goldwater Girl" (vintage 1964) who "revered" (her word) the Republican extremist candidate for president, Bernie Sanders had marched in Washington with Martin Luther King, was present for the "I Have a Dream" speech, and had been arrested in a Civil Rights demonstration in Chicago. Senator Sanders hasn't changed. Neither has ex-Senator Clinton.

The Flint Water Treatment Plant Foreman (an important part of the investigation) and a woman leading the Flint lead poisoning lawsuit were both found dead. This is not simply a water cleanliness issue. It is about allowing parts
of America to devolve into toxic cesspools, where problems are “solved”
with underhanded police-state tactics. In the span of a few weeks,
crucial files mysteriously disappeared from the Flint city hall, the
Water Treatment Plant Foreman died suddenly at age 43 and a woman
leading the lawsuit against Flint was murdered in her home.

Article: The Necessity of Not Voting Clinton.

Article: The Necessity of Not Voting Clinton. | Global politics | Scoop.it
Article: The Necessity of Not Voting Clinton. - Explanation of why NOT voting for Hillary Clinton in the general election, should she be the nominee, is essential.
Enrique Ferro's insight:
The media has consistently ignored, demeaned, trivialized and ridiculed Sanders, while extolling Clinton. The fact that only six corporations own over 90 percent of our mass media, and most of these corporations have contributed large amounts to the Clinton campaign and or the Clinton foundation, does not appear coincidental. So in response to the "sore loser" argument": "Your candidate lost, so you petulantly insist on being a sore loser and not supporting the winning candidate..." note that there was no fair contest, and so there can be no "sore loser." Not accepting the results of an unfair game is rational and responsible. It is those making the sore loser arguments who are themselves being irresponsible.
