After Brexit: Germany and France May Begin to Follow Their Pro-Russian Instincts

After Brexit: Germany and France May Begin to Follow Their Pro-Russian Instincts | Global politics | Scoop.it
It happened: the first country decided to exit from the EU. 52% British voted for Brexit, and 48% voted for Remain. Here are a few major points: 1. Scotland voted to remain in the EU, England voted against. The logic is the following: in terms of intolerance of foreigners, the migration wave hasn’t reached Scotland yet, so they don’t have a negative attitude about it. On the other hand, they love to spite the English, so the response was expected. There is expected to be a new referendum on independence.
Enrique Ferro's insight:
Indeed the US has lost a major asset within the EU. So have the Baltic states and Poland. Now they will have to lower their strident hysteria against Russia. and sober a little, because Germany and France will feel freer to speak more wisely.

Wanna Know What Brexit and Dying Dead Sea Have in Common? Russia!

Wanna Know What Brexit and Dying Dead Sea Have in Common? Russia! | Global politics | Scoop.it
No matter how many times Russian officials say that the UK referendum was Britain's personal matter and the Kremlin was not rooting for the Leave campaign, there will always be those who claim that President Vladimir Putin has a lot to celebrate now that London has decided to divorce the EU.
Enrique Ferro's insight:
Russian Duma Foreign Affairs Committee chairman Alexei Pushkov for instance maintained that McFaul should have focused on pondering why the majority of Britons backed leaving the EU after US President Barack Obama urged them not to. McFaul replied that this was a fair point.

Tensions Between US/NATO & Russia Are Flaring Dangerously

Tensions Between US/NATO & Russia Are Flaring Dangerously | Global politics | Scoop.it
As if there weren’t enough crises to worry about in the world already, from shooting rampages to accelerating species loss, the US and NATO continue to ‘poke the bear’ and risk an outbreak of war with Russia.I wish this were idle speculation. But if you haven’t been paying close attention, you'll probably be shocked at just how much direct military and diplomatic provocation has been going on between NATO/US and Russia over the past several years -- and in recent weeks, in particular.
Enrique Ferro's insight:
It seems that Russia’s main sin is in not entirely, completely and immediately giving the US/NATO anything and everything they request. In other words, it’s imperial hubris and petulance that seems to be driving the ship of state. That’s a dangerous thing.

Beyond Bernie: Still Not With Her

Beyond Bernie: Still Not With Her | Global politics | Scoop.it
Since the June 6 California primary, the historic upheaval that coalesced around Bernie Sanders’ campaign has continued to defy the demands of the political establishment, but has also increasingly turned into a search for the way forward. After a powerful, year-long mass campaign over the hostile terrain of a rigged primary, our political revolution is at a crossroads.

The post-California period began with a revolt, following the AP’s preemptive anointment of Clinton. In the hours and days after this corporate media assault and the initial ballot results, there was a wave of angry social media reaffirming Sandernistas’ rejection of the establishment’s demands for capitulation. Elizabeth Warren’s full-throated endorsement of Clinton came shortly thereafter, and hundreds of thousands of people un-liked her Facebook page and otherwise registered their disgust online. The petition that Movement4Bernie and I launched two months ago, calling for Sanders to run independent or Green, caught on fire. It tripled its number of signatures in just a few days time, at an initial rate of 1,000 people an hour, and now has over 115,000 total.
Enrique Ferro's insight:
And yes, as far as foreign policy is concerned, Clinton is worse than Trump. The issue is world peace, and millions of lives.

The foreign fighters in Syria led by an Aussie priest

The foreign fighters in Syria led by an Aussie priest | Global politics | Scoop.it
AFTER leading a group of foreign fighters to Syria, Sydney priest and boxer Dave Smith wants to show Australia the real situation in the war-torn country.
Enrique Ferro's insight:
“Since the Russians have arrived everything is good,” he said. When the team of fighters was travelling 320km to the recently liberated Palmyra, they saw no Syrian soldiers or civilians on the journey. Then out of nowhere, there was a truck in the middle of the desert baking loaves of bread. It was Russian soldiers. “A Russian comes up and says ‘here you go’ and passes us some bread,” Father Dave said. “It was like something out of a Bible story. Here we where in the middle of the desert and someone came forward with loaves of bread to keep us going.”

Top IT official: Disabling security for Clinton server laid out 'welcome mat' for hackers | Fox News | Global politics | Scoop.it
A 2010 decision temporarily disabling State Department security features to accommodate Hillary Clinton’s private server effectively laid out a welcome mat for hackers and foreign intelligence services, a leading IT official who oversaw computer security at the Defense Intelligence Agency told Fox News.

In an interview with British Television Network ITV, Assange said he has Clinton emails that are not public, and there is "enough evidence" for criminal charges, including regarding the Clinton Foundation, though he claimed she was too protected by the Obama administration for an indictment to go forward. A Blow for Peace and Democracy: Why the British Said No to Europe

A Blow for Peace and Democracy: Why the British Said No to Europe | Global politics | Scoop.it
The majority vote by Britons to leave the European Union was an act of raw democracy. Millions of ordinary people refused to be bullied, intimidated and dismissed with open contempt by their presumed betters in the major parties, the leaders of the business and banking oligarchy and the media.

This was, in great part, a vote by those angered and demoralised by the sheer arrogance of the apologists for the “Remain” campaign and the dismemberment of a socially just civil life in Britain. The last bastion of the historic reforms of 1945, the National Health Service, has been so subverted by Tory and Labour-supported privateers it is fighting for its life.
Enrique Ferro's insight:
George Osborne, the embodiment of both Britain’s ancient regime and the banking mafia in Europe, threatened to cut £30 billion from public services if people voted the wrong way; it was blackmail on a shocking scale.
