Global politics | Scoop.it

Global politics | Scoop.it

Fort Russ: Poroshenko: Not Bandera, but a parody of a respectable Fuehrer

Fort Russ: Poroshenko: Not Bandera, but a parody of a respectable Fuehrer | Global politics | Scoop.it
Enrique Ferro's insight:

In that sense, the battle against “cynical banderites” is not a change of ideology but simply giving respectability to a Russophobic ideology. The Russophobes in the Kiev elite are not going anywhere, there will be no rapprochement with Russia, children will continue to be raised to hate the Russian language and the Russians, and there will be no contrition before the Donbass.

Simply the tactics have changed. Washington does not need Ukraine crawling with sociopathic militant detachments—they have failed to mop up the Donbass and therefore they will be written off. Washington needs an authoritarian, russophobic, fascist Ukraine which will prepare to launch suicidal aggression against Russia.

When Billionaires Ruled Ukraine and Planet Earth

When Billionaires Ruled Ukraine and Planet Earth | Global politics | Scoop.it
With Ukraine's government showing signs of fracture, why is the New York Times trying to cement Humpy Dumpty back together again?
Enrique Ferro's insight:

There’s no more puzzling association than another of Filatov’s friends, European Greens party substantial, Pavlo Khazan, who’s not only concerned about fish in the Dnepr River, but good weaponry and support for the armed forces, too. Prevalent in recent shares by Filatov, Khazan was part of a recent delegation to Israel for talks with weapons giant Elbit Systems Ltd. Given the topic of conversation, one can only assume Kiev is planning on installing a Berlin Wall, a la Gaza barrier, in between the west of Ukraine and the Donbass. Such systems as the IDF uses to insulate Israel from Gaza denote something having been ordained. Khazan, whom some Internet researchers proclaim is just an altruistic and naive Jewish millionaire, he's not the weirdest Kolomoisky associate, though.

FULL-SPECTRUM CYNICISM: Yemen and the Art of International Subterfuge

FULL-SPECTRUM CYNICISM: Yemen and the Art of International Subterfuge | Global politics | Scoop.it
Encapsulating his view of the essence of politics, Vladimir Lenin famously asked “who, whom”, that is to say, what matters in power relationships is who does what to whom. Under the elaborate trappings of abstract, supposedly universal morals, this brutal and obscene maxim has long been the West’s primary operating principle in international affairs.

Global politics | Scoop.it

Global politics | Scoop.it
Enrique Ferro's insight:

Freie Welt.

Fort Russ: NATO promises not to expand East

Fort Russ: NATO promises not to expand East | Global politics | Scoop.it
Enrique Ferro's insight:

Indeed, Russia's collapse and fragmentation was the empire's next step. They were taking their time, Yeltsin was a drunk and easily manipulable, he even depended on the US electoral experts to win his election, and he was surrounded by a bunch of oligarchs ready to sell the country for a pittance, and liberal politicians and economists destroying whatever remained of the Russian economy. On top of that some governors were approached to proclaim their independence from Russia, to begin with Sakhalin...

Yes nobody could even imagine a Putin. How could that even be possible. I remember at the beginning the Western opinion didn't know how to class him. Some sympathetically, at least they saw the shadow of some "respectable" oligarchs such as Berezovsky supporting him, or Yeltsin annointing him. Others, the most, after seeing his determination as a PM conducting the war in Chechnya began to say that he was "dangerous". Dangerous for whom?  Anyway, his quick oligarch-cleaning was quite unexpected, so was his "vertical of power" as far as the regions were concerned, frustrating the desired Russian fragmentation, and certainly the unpredicted economic growth...

Now after the Yeltsin morass I cannot yet grasp how such a "regime change" was ever possible. And an unknown at the helm! The West is still dreaming to switch the clock back and to restart the partition of Russia. Only now they target Russia to destruction. Ukraine was the start (while they mended fences in Georgia), but precisely the quick move over Crimea frustrated their plans. The failure of the sanctions and the European stampede is checking the US "exceptionality". How desperate are the American neo-cons and how weakling is Obama to let them agitate their threats? We'll have to wait and see. They are burning out and they are becoming realy dangerous. Putin and his administration cannot allow itself a single misstep. The beast is stalking.

Fort Russ: Dmitry Yarosh to Poroshenko: "We toppled Yanukovich, and can topple you". Interview. | Global politics | Scoop.it
Enrique Ferro's insight:

They added amendments to the bills that I proposed, at the last session on Thursday they were supposed to vote, but did not vote, and it is unclear if they will vote at all, after all these statements about the "cynical Banderites" [Poroshenko slip of tongue - KR], and "those who love to shoot" (regarding the killing of the SBU agent - ed.)... I know that he (Poroshenko - ed) is afraid of us. Can't stand us. I told him everything in his face. When Ilovaysk happened, and the first agreements. The battle is raging, and I am told - "Minsk agreement is signed". Called his assistant, said, tell him it's complete idiocy. And the betrayal of national interests. And also said: we toppledYanukovych and can topple you too. He got very offended.
