Anyone pointing out that arming the regime in Kiev would strengthen fascists and neo-Nazis is instantly accused of being a Putin propagandist: exactly like those arguing that the best anti-Assad fighters were al-Qaeda-affiliated were accused of being Assad propagandists (until that became the official position of the US Government).
Astronomers at the Very Large Telescope have taken the best 3D-pictures of the early universe ever. They discovered objects emitting so little light that the Hubble Telescope could not find them. The resulting pictures are considered a milestone in cosmology. Researchers found a lot of valuable information in them, helping them to check previous theories and models like the question whether the universe really looks the same everywhere. And indeed: The pictures showed many galaxies of similar sh
The popularity and acceptability of torture have soared in the United States and around the world. This is not simply because the United States has tortured. The U.S. government, many of its policies, its wars, and key torture supporters have not seen similar boosts in popularity.
In 2011 the Palikot movement, which championed libertarian positions in favor of legalizing marijuana, supporting LGBT rights, and reducing the influence of the church in the secular sphere, surprised everyone by catapulting into parliament with 10 p...
"If Assad is defeated, then the United States will be able to arrange the entire Qatar-Saudi-Jordan-Syrian portion of the non-Iraqi route all the way up to the Turkish border..." I doubt it, because if Assad is defeated Syria will be destroyed and the whole country will be subjected to a "Libyan" or "Iraqi" chaos, civil war, and no government. And if any, Da'esh. Unstable, murderous, unfit to ensure any pipe whatsoever. US imperial reckless action has destroyed Iraq and it is about to do likewise in Syria. The US hubris has condemned them to say good-bye to any pipeline project from Qatar to the Mediterranean.
A nurse who works at a private hospital in Mersin, a city and province on the Mediterranean »»
Enrique Ferro's insight:
The nurse, who was identified only by her initials, E.G., in a news story published by the Taraf daily on Wednesday, said of ISIL militants: “We treat them, and they go on to decapitate people. I am sick of treating wounded ISIL militants.” E.G. has also written a letter to Parliament and the National Police Department, saying she and her colleagues are extremely disturbed by the fact that they have to treat people “who chop off heads.”
Friends, I want to get a note out to you as the publicity mounts over the Boris Nemtsov murder. Secondly, none of us have any idea who ordered or carried out the killing of Nemtsov––and we may never know. We...
Enrique Ferro's insight:
In my opinion, Nemtsov's murder was either some unknown personal vendetta, a business deal gone sour or perhaps something surrounding the 20-year-old he was with ….
…. but more likely this murder contract was carried out to create more negative publicity with which to demonize Putin.
It was Inhofe's expertise in analyzing photographs that led him to introduce his legislation to send lethal arms to Ukraine. He presented his Senate colleagues with photographic evidence that Russia had invaded Ukraine. Unfortunately for Inhofe's credibility, it was later demonstrated that he had used photos of Russian military vehicles in the 2008 South Ossetia conflict.
That reminded me greatly of the 2006 Alexander Litvinenko case. There, Putin was accused of ordering the poisoning of Litvinenko because he was about to reveal proof of Putin's culpability in the murder of Politkovskaya. Although Litvinenko lived for several weeks after his poisoning, he never released his evidence. I wonder if we'll ever see Nemtsov's evidence. And if we do, I wonder if it will include Inhofe's photographs.
The BRICS New Development Bank (NDB) -- a key alternative to the IMF enabling developing nations to get rid of the US dollar as a reserve currency -- will be operative by the end of this year. The NDB will finance infrastructure and sustainable development projects not only in the BRICS nations but other developing nations.
Enrique Ferro's insight:
The acronym that all these "forecasts" dare not reveal is BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa). BRICS is worse than the plague as far as the "Masters of the Universe" that really control the current -- rigged -- world system are concerned. True, the BRICS are facing multiple problems. Brazil at the moment is totally paralyzed; a long, complex, self-defeating process, now coupled with intimations of regime change by local "Empire of Chaos" minions. It will take time, but Brazil will rebound.
That leaves the "RIC" -- Russia, India and China - in BRICS as the key drivers of change. For all their interlocking discrepancies, they all agree they don't need to challenge the hegemon directly while aiming for a new multipolar order.
Tariq Ali: "I can't see the old way of reproducing a political party of the left, modeled on the Republican and Democratic structures, as working. These people only work with money. They do not even speak with very many ordinary people. It is credit-card democracy. The left cannot and should not emulate this. America is the hardest nut to crack, but unless it is cracked we are doomed."

Enrique Ferro's insight:
At this moment when Russia is being hit with a new propaganda attack over ‘political murder’ in Moscow it’s a good time to recall 12 notable US national political figures, all found murdered or suspiciously dead – Senators, Congressmen, Federal Prosecutors, Federal Judge, Governor, CIA Director – after questioning corruption or disturbing US oligarch leadership – since the 1963 JFK assassination. With 4 coup d’état ‘hits’ on the last 10 US Presidents themselves.
A short but important update. 1. A follow-up on the story in Krasnyi Luch. The conflict between "Kosogor" and the LPR mostly has to do with the refusal by "Kosogor" to supply people for the front and with the complaints of the locals due to various illegal actions that were…
