Intelligence thought to have been derived by torture in Saudi Arabia helped to foil a terror attack on UK soil, it has emerged. Reflecting on the revelation, the ex-head of MI6 said torturing terror suspects produces “useful information.”
Enrique Ferro's insight:

Disgraceful! And the man believes in it! Torture only brings the "information" that the torturer wants to hear.

Berlin and Paris look East: How close are we to a Common Economic Space? | Global politics | Scoop.it
The Eurasian Economic Union is a reality that may end up costing the US its “perch” in Eurasia’s western periphery as a Common Economic Space is formed.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

The US  won't tolerate it without a stand. And it will implement the most hideous actions to that end. In Russia itself, or in the European states breaking loose. Wait and see.

Protests over LAPD fatally shooting mentally ill homeless man

Protests over LAPD fatally shooting mentally ill homeless man | Global politics | Scoop.it
Video footage of Los Angeles police officers shooting dead a homeless black man, aka Africa, has triggered an avalanche of protest on social media. The man had allegedly been just recently released after spending 10 years in a psychiatric facility.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

The US is becoming a raw police state, where easy-trigger officers can kill anybody with total impunity. Will Obama and Merkel demand a complete investigation this time? Unlikely, as they know that it will not materialize. Only Americans can prevent their country from turning into a fascist state.

Fort Russ: Was Nemtsov killed because his cover as a Kremlin asset was blown? | Global politics | Scoop.it
Enrique Ferro's insight:

The genuine sorrow and indignation of the Russian authorities is clear - they know who really was Nemtsov and why he died. The loss of such a devoted colleague, especially associated with the most significant projects of the enemy, in such a dangerous time is irreplaceable. The cries of the Kiev junta are understandable: the puppets will not be notified of the master's affairs.

‘Nemtsov killing godsend for anybody against a strong Russia’

‘Nemtsov killing godsend for anybody against a strong Russia’ | Global politics | Scoop.it
The murder of Russian opposition figure Boris Nemtsov could be a provocation since it is ‘manna from heaven’ for those who don’t want to see Russia strong, Dr William Mallinson, former British diplomat and historian told RT.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

Is the killing "a godsend for anybody who is against a strong Russia"? I don't think so, it will backfire. Yes, the Western establishment is making a lot of noise, but as soon as his lifestyle, relations, businesses, and contacts, will be exposed, as well as the murky motive for his murder, many people will wish to take a distance.
Today a read an "analysis" in a French newspaper whose author titled: "This was the last thing Putin would have wished". Reasonable, isn't it? Of course, it is an MSM, and so he had to advance some fancy hypothesis. In this case the thesis of rogue Kremlin agents. His evidence? Well he said, like RT in the present article: "The killing happened right in front of the Kremlin – a place with very high security." Actually? But do the people who say this have ever been to Moscow?!? For all those who have walked along that bridge in the evening/night, as I can remember, not a single policeman, and at most you can cross some pedestrian... Indeed, there are cameras, and so what? Can they protect or prevent you from being murdered? Even as you come out from the bridge into the Red Sq., down behind St Basil, you find few people and not much security, because security is farther, and certainly behind the Kremlin walls (which is a fortress and well guarded inside).

What impact will Nemtsov’s death have on Russian opposition?

What impact will Nemtsov’s death have on Russian opposition? | Global politics | Scoop.it
Opposition figure Boris Nemtsov was killed in Moscow on Saturday night. RT sat down with analyst Dmitry Babich, who knew Nemtsov personally, to discuss the possible impact of the murder on the Russian opposition.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

I don't think that even in the short run he will be useful to the opposition. Nobody in their sanity can believe the "Kremlin's victim" storyline that the Western media are agitating, and the Russians will learn to despise him even more than before, as his lifestyle emerges in force. A politician having contributed to the misery of millions, a playboy, a Ukrainian-junta collaborator...  If Putin wanted to marginalize him even more, he only had to have his "kompromat" photos published somewhere. No need to kill him, just to expose him. But the Kremlin wouldn't, because Nemtsov was a failed politician, and he couldn't mobilize many people, as even his funeral march has proved. Poor guy! He was a wonderboy, but his life went wrong.

Western media reaction to Nemtsov’s murder is ‘absolutely outrageous’

Western media reaction to Nemtsov’s murder is ‘absolutely outrageous’ | Global politics | Scoop.it
It is up to the police to investigate Nemtsov’s murder, not Western journalists who immediately deduced from their crystal ball that the Russian government was linked to death, said Marcus Papadopoulos, the editor of Politics First magazine.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

I don't understand why anyone could be outraged by the Western media habit of taking any pretext to demonize the Russian president. That is their job, and they have been honouring their wages for a long time now. Even if nowadays the intensity is higher, as if there was a contest among the media to win for being the most smearing one! They know they are despicable and lying all the time, but they won't change.

‘All about money’: NATO spending debate focuses on ‘Russian threat’

‘All about money’: NATO spending debate focuses on ‘Russian threat’ | Global politics | Scoop.it
NATO member-states unwilling or unable to help boost the military spending are being accused of ignoring the “Russian threat,” that has re-emerged as the core of the alliance’s agenda to boost arms sales.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

This shows off the true nature of NATO and its existence after the end of the Cold War: the preserve of a bunch of bureaucrats and military-complex politicians. They have managed to revive a new cold war, after creating conflicts and then "proving" the need of NATO to solve the very same problems it had created in the first place! They have an issue with the chiefs of government indeed, who are enduring to make budget ends meet, and that is that the latter do know the essence of NATO big lie! And that is the present contradiction. Only the most slavish states (the "small" states) are ready to "spend" money for their maniacal anti-Russian policies (I wonder where they get the money from, the EU?). Eventually the US will pressure the "rebel" states, as it is their military-industrial interest. And the European states will have to harden their austerity and impopularity in order to satisfy the anti-Russian propaganda and obsession of the US, the Baltics, and Poland. Poor Europe!

Fort Russ: A chilling Nemtsov's murder prophecy from 2012

Fort Russ: A chilling Nemtsov's murder prophecy from 2012 | Global politics | Scoop.it
Enrique Ferro's insight:

The US and Europe are no longer monolith in their position, as they shift further apart and with each passing day it is more and more difficult to hide Kiev's crimes, lies and terror in Donbass and Ukraine. Thus Russia is beginning to make victories in the information war where it matters - in Europe. As Ukrainian stand-off is turning into a diplomatic phase along with a looming economic apocalypse in Ukraine (which is the only thing that Ukraine beat Russia at), it is becoming more and more difficult for the Kiev junta to stay afloat.
