This article presents a synopsis of the neurophysics of our brain-consciousness relationship. Mainstream neuroscience does not presently understand what consciousness is or how it works, and the reductionist strains of the science deny that we really "exist" as individual conscious persons. We exist. Neurophysics explains how we "work".
The dollar and the euro hit new records on the Moscow Exchange. The fall of the ruble is connected with the collapse of world oil prices after OPEC cartel decided to preserve current oil production quotas - 30 million barrels a...
In 2014, as many as 80,000 new infections are to be registered. At this rate of HIV infection, it can be expected that at the end of 2015 the number of cases will reach one million people. HIV stopped being an infection of...
The price of briefly oil stopped at one point. Despite the collapse of oil prices that took place the day before after OPEC's decision not to cut the level of extraction of hydrocarbons, futures price went up
A pregnant St. Louis woman is now blind in one eye after St. Louis County Police shot a bean-bag round at a vehicle she was riding in as the car drove away from a gas station near Ferguson, Missouri early Tuesday.
Enrique Ferro's insight:
Easy trigger police continue rampage. With impunity. Is this America? And they patronize the rest of the world?
The French President has, evidently, chosen the American President over his own country, but the penalty lawsuit from Russia will probably drag on for a long time, because Hollande used careful terminology in his renege-statement: he has "indefinitely suspended" delivery, not "cancelled" it. Consequently, the question as to precisely when France would "renege," and would consequently be in technical default on the deal, would need to be adjudicated.
Globalization, together with the parallel collapse of "actually existing socialism", defined the New World Order (NWO), which has been established in the last thirty years or so, following the rise of globalization and the...
Enrique Ferro's insight:
he future of both Syriza and Podemos remains to be seen. It is true that they may derive into another fiasco like most of the reformist left in Europe. But they also may develop into a Bolivarian left and bring about actual reforms, changing fossilized politics in Europe. Both Spain and Greece have a historical anti-Fascist tradition and struggle, hence the failure of nationalist and extreme-right wing parties to establish an alternative to neoliberalism (which was kicked out from Latin American Bolivarian or near-Bolivarian alternatives over ten years ago!).
Oh, yes, and I think Takis Fotopoulos unfortunately skips over the Latin American experience, which is the most exciting social and political experience in the 21st century. Take Bolivia, a country that 10 years ago was the poorest country in the Western hemisphere, barely behind Haiti, after decades of military dictatorships and then neoliberal governments, and that was ruled by the American Embassy (actually, not that different from Europe nowadays). They made their revolution, followed Chavez's lessons, changed the system and the Constitution, for the first time an indigenous government was formed in America, and now it is a prosperous country which has recovered a great deal of their national riches and keeps developping as an independent and sovereign country far from the neoliberal dogmas and oppression and US-servitude. Likewise Venezuela, Ecuador, and even Brazil and Argentina (under siege)...
Every day, trucks laden with food, clothing, and other supplies cross the border from Turkey to Syria. It is unclear who is picking up the goods. The haulers believe most of the cargo is going to the "Islamic State" militia. Oil, weapons, and soldiers are also being smuggled over the border, and Kurdish volunteers are now patrolling the area in a bid to stem the supplies.
