American forces were involved in their first ground battle with Islamic State fighters, according to Kurdish media outlet Shafaq News, near the Ain Al-Assad base in the Anbar province of Iraq early Sunday. The report could not be independently verified.

Should the offensive prove successful, it could open a path to Sinjar mountain, where hundreds of Yazidis - an ethnic Kurdish minority - have been trapped by Islamic State since August.

Journalist and former European Parliament member, Giulietto Chiesa of Italy, was detained by the Tallinn police due to his pro-Russian views, which make him a threat to Estonia’s national security, the country’s Foreign Ministry told RT in an e-mail.

Estonia's democracy. Nothing odd, it is a country where SS-veteran marches take place, and obviously a Russian-hater NATO front state, whereas Russian-speakers are denied citizenship. And Estonia is a Member State of the EU, and the Union of course is mute about all this.

The Bank of Russia needs to reduce lending to force banks and corporations sell currency, ex-chairman of the Bank of Russia, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of VTB Bank, Sergei Dubinin, told TASS. commenting on the fall of the ruble. "Right now, one is left to restrain ruble liquidity, to push banks, corporations and individuals, who need to spend money in rubles, towards selling foreign currency,"  said Dubinin.
