Enrique Ferro's insight:

Both Russia and China believe the sanctions are illegal, ineffective and counterproductive, according to Matviyenko. They are nothing but an attempt “to exert pressure on sovereign states to change their position and to weaken them and suppress their development,” she stressed.

Enrique Ferro's insight:

"No other part of post-1954 Ukraine had previously been part of Russia, and this includes the southeastern portion of Ukraine, whose residents ethnically descended from Russian immigrants who had settled there."

Those territories were transferred to the Ukrainian SSR by Lenn in the early 1920s in order to compensate the peasant Ukrainian population with the proletariat of what was then the most industrializd region of Russia.
