Fort Russ: The view of NATO is not the same in Montenegro as it is in Brussels | Global politics | Scoop.it
Enrique Ferro's insight:

"NATO was the main organizer of the massacre in Serbia, as it is now at work in Ukraine. It is an international organization, successor of Nazism," said the Metropolitan of Montenegro, Amfilohije Radović, as reported in Balkan Periscope.

IMF won’t join Greece’s rescue unless creditors agree on debt relief - media | Global politics | Scoop.it
The IMF said it can’t reach a ‘staff level agreement’ on Greece’s €86 billion bailout at this stage and will make the decision on further involvement in the deal only after Athens agrees on a ‘comprehensive set of reforms’ and creditors on debt relief.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

The fund said it will only decide whether to participate during ‘stage two’ after Greece has “agreed on a comprehensive set of reforms” and after creditors have “agreed on debt relief.”

Litvinenko lawyer claims Russian state ‘involved’ in ex-KGB agent’s poisoning

Litvinenko lawyer claims Russian state ‘involved’ in ex-KGB agent’s poisoning | Global politics | Scoop.it
The Russian state is ‘in one form or another’ is involved in the murder of ex-KGB agent Alexander Litvinenko, claimed the victim’s layer, adding that Litvinenko’s radioactive poisoning might have affected people in London.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

And yet, what interest could ever have the Russian state in eliminating a low ranking spy who had nothing to expose (after the poisoning he was alive for long enough to do it). All this gesticulation is designed to add up to the current Russophobic hysteria. Peruse the Western media and you'll find everyday a derogatory item over Russia. It has become an obsession! Unfortunately there are simple people who end up believing something, after so much mass slamming.

The first licensed armless pilot and motivational speaker, Jessica Cox, was caught on camera doing what she does best – going out of her way to help others. Following a mother’s message and a six-hour drive, three-year-old Ruth got to meet her hero.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

The two hugged in an emotional photo that proved that no matter what you are born with in life, compassion and solace only require you to have a heart.

US imposes further sanctions on Russia over Crimea, east Ukraine conflict

US imposes further sanctions on Russia over Crimea, east Ukraine conflict | Global politics | Scoop.it
The United States has imposed further sanctions against Russia over the events in eastern Ukraine and Crimea. Eleven more people and 15 more companies have been put on the sanctions list.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

The US hasn't recovered yet from the tantrums and the rancour the reunification of Crimea with Russia provoked following the referendum and the swift Russian acknowledgment of the Crimeans' wish, as the US had launched a very careful action to seize control of Crimea for the US/NATO navies by means of a coup d'etat in Kiev and the transfer of the junta to the US of Crimea control. The US cannot recover from the spite they wasted $5bn and all they got is the frustrating overseeing of a bankrupt state. They may keep dictating sanctions that nobody will hear of for the next 100 years, but Crimea (nor Ucraine for that matter!) will not be theirs. They should pay more attention to  their domestic abuses instead of seeking a global domination they cannot uphold.

Fort Russ: Lutsenko: "Third alternative: falling on our knees before Moscow" | Global politics | Scoop.it
Enrique Ferro's insight:

For Ukraine to recover it would have to find new trading partners to replace the lost Russian markets, and these partners aren't exactly lining up. Which means that the "third alternative" will soon be the only one remaining.

It's no wonder that the Viceroy of Ukraine Pyatt was forced to visit Transcarpathia on 21 July with a "housekeeping visit." The presence of the most important individual in Ukrainian politics indicates that the US is seriously worried about the future of this unstable corner of its newest colony.

MH17 crash tribunal would 'extend Dutch-led investigation indefinitely’

MH17 crash tribunal would 'extend Dutch-led investigation indefinitely’ | Global politics | Scoop.it
Malaysia and the Netherlands are putting the cart before the horse by proposing to set up a tribunal on the MH17 Malaysia plane crash before obtaining the results of the international investigation, Alexander Mercouris, International Affairs Editor at Russia Insider told RT.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

Why set up a tribunal or even talk about setting up a tribunal before we know what the results of the international investigation are? It is a case of putting the cart, as they say, before the horse. First we wait the results of the investigation, which we are expecting around October, then we look at what kind of tribunal there is. The concern must be that what is actually happening is that that report is not going to be very conclusive. Those who are now talking about setting up a tribunal are trying to use that device just to extend the investigation indefinitely.

Why does the Western liberal media love Russian criminals?

Why does the Western liberal media love Russian criminals? | Global politics | Scoop.it
When you lie down with the dogs, you wake up with the fleas. Western media is shattering its own credibility by soft-soaping post-Soviet criminals.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

Anybody who knows even the smallest amount about Russia is fully aware that the 90s are regarded as the nation’s nadir. Most political figures of the age are about as well regarded as tooth-extraction, without anesthetic. Russians over-30 can’t help but shudder when the subject is broached. It was a stretch of extraordinary suffering in Russia. It was also a period when lawlessness ruled.

‘Hypocritical’: Russian Foreign Ministry blasts US statements over NED undesirability

‘Hypocritical’: Russian Foreign Ministry blasts US statements over NED undesirability | Global politics | Scoop.it
Russian diplomats say that the US concern over inclusion of the National Endowment for Democracy into the list of undesirable groups was hardly justified as this NGO is known for projects aimed at regime change in foreign nations.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

An analysis of real-life projects sponsored and executed by this organization shows that the majority of those were destined to misbalance the internal political situation in countries that attempt to remain independent and act in accordance with their own national interests, the ministry added.

‘Jeremy Corbyn will cure Labour Party of its Blairite virus’ – union

‘Jeremy Corbyn will cure Labour Party of its Blairite virus’ – union | Global politics | Scoop.it
One of Britain’s biggest trade unions has described Labour leadership candidate Jeremy Corbyn as the “antidote” to the “Blairite virus” gripping the party.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

Corbyn will win, he must win, if something is to change. The Blairites smearing him and threatening splitting the party are only panicking for their privileges and their power abuse, after cheating the electorate by using a label they don't deserve.

Medicare for all: Bernie Sanders calls for single-payer health system

Medicare for all: Bernie Sanders calls for single-payer health system | Global politics | Scoop.it
Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders wants the US to adopt a single-payer healthcare system. Vying for the Democratic presidential nomination, Sanders has called for the universal expansion of Medicare, a social assistance program that just turned 50.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

“The United States must join the rest of the industrialized world and recognize that health care is a right of all, and not a privilege. Despite the fact that more than 40 million Americans have no health insurance, we spend almost twice as much per capita on health care as any other nation. We need to establish a Medicare-for-all, single-payer system.”
