‘US air cover to Syrian rebels could be game-changer ‘

‘US air cover to Syrian rebels could be game-changer ‘ | Global politics | Scoop.it
If the US puts its weight behind the Pentagon-trained rebels in their fight against the Assad government would neutralize the only advantage the Syrian Army has over the rebels, i.e. an air force, journalist and political commentator Alaa Ibrahim told RT.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

It is a game changer indeed. And very dangerous. It is like a Libya redux, where the NATO powers claimed to defend their rebels and they destroyed the country. If they intervene and start to bomb the Syrian Army, Syria as a state and a nation will be finished, unless Moscow provides state-of-the-art means of defense to stop the ggression.

Who’s to blame for Jewish extremists’ attacks? | Global politics | Scoop.it
The recent spate of violence in Israel committed by Jewish extremists has met with strong condemnation from throughout the world, and strong denunciation from prominent Israeli politicians. But can the stabbing and arson attacks be written off as just rare and random acts of terror committed by a radical fringe of the Jewish population?

‘Bodies were shredded’: Anti-ISIS airstrikes killed hundreds of civilians, report claims

‘Bodies were shredded’: Anti-ISIS airstrikes killed hundreds of civilians, report claims | Global politics | Scoop.it
Over 400 civilians have been killed in in the first year of US-led anti-ISIS airstrikes, including 58 non-combatants who were being held in an Islamic State prison for offenses such as buying cigarettes, a major study claims.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

Bombing ISIS translates into massacring civilians. If the next phase of this war is bombing Damascus, we should expect the toll of the dead innocent growing  and growing. And such is the Western logics "liberating" people by obliterating them.

Palestinians shelter Israeli policewoman from rocks tossed by Jewish extremists (PHOTO)

Palestinians shelter Israeli policewoman from rocks tossed by Jewish extremists (PHOTO) | Global politics | Scoop.it
An Israeli police officer found unlikely protection in the form of two Palestinian men, who, despite their differences, sheltered her from rocks, according to a picture taken in the midst of a stone-throwing battle between Jewish extremists and Palestinians.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

Quo vadis, Israel? The extremists are stabbing Jewish gays and pelting rocks on the Israeli police... And more to come. The country is schizophrenic, and lunacy feeds itself if nobody treats it. Apparently nobody wills, or dares. The settlers have been nurtured and covered too long. Now they are poisoning all and sundry. And the "flames of hatred" are unstoppable. What next?

Social Democracy or Revolutionary Democracy: Syriza and Us

Social Democracy or Revolutionary Democracy: Syriza and Us | Global politics | Scoop.it
All eyes on the Left are upon Greece. Not because of a general interest in the contradictions of capitalism in the midst of this particular crisis but because of Syriza. Unfortunately, what we are observing is not unique to Syriza. The story has been told before, and the story inevitably will occur again if we do not learn from it.

Time for the western media to send real journalists to Russia & Ukraine

Time for the western media to send real journalists to Russia & Ukraine | Global politics | Scoop.it
The media’s use of young, inexperienced freelancers in Ukraine has long been a disaster waiting to happen. Last weekend’s obviously fabricated “dirty bomb” nonsense is further proof.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

The issue is not the reporters, but rather the editors and their bosses, who have to stick to the narrative they are provided by their governments and the CIA. It is obvious that any item "reporting" on Ukraine, Crimea, Russia... is swayed and gagged, filtered and censored by the media corporations as told by the US foreign policy makers.

Taking sides in Syrian civil war? Obama authorizes airstrikes ‘to defend’ US-trained rebels

Taking sides in Syrian civil war? Obama authorizes airstrikes ‘to defend’ US-trained rebels | Global politics | Scoop.it
The US president has reportedly authorized the Air Force to protect Syrian rebels trained by Washington to fight against Islamic State by bombing any force attacking them, including Syrian regular troops.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

We saw it coming! All the Daesh circus was orientated to subrepticiously bomb the government forces. Now it has been plainly announced: the US plan to bomb the Syrian Republic through the pretext that they are defending their own mercenaries, who will have a white card to attack Damascus expecting the government will be bombed out by their patrons. This is the Libyan scenario redux, and we know how it ended up. Unless Russia provides Syria with the means to keep the Syrian skies free of aggressors...

Syrian rebels captured and beaten for ‘collaborating with crusaders’

Syrian rebels captured and beaten for ‘collaborating with crusaders’ | Global politics | Scoop.it
Farhan al-Jassem is not a reluctant soldier, but sadness lurked behind his smile and deep brown eyes when he talked about the past two and half years he spent trying to fight what he considers the good fight in Syria. In a tea garden in south-eastern Turkey last month, Lieutenant Jassem, 29, gulped down several bottles of water as he told the story of how he came to lead a key Syrian military brigade, trained and equipped by the US-led coalition, receiving training and equipment from a US-organi
