Enrique Ferro's insight:
There are dark forces seeking to destroy the ceasefire. This is obviously a provocation to that end. It reminds me the occasion of the chemical attack, and how immediately the West condemned the Syrian government, as if Assad were stupid and would attack his people with gas at the moment the UN inspectors had arrived to Damascus, and prompt Obama's red-line intervention...

Puerto Rico: a Junta By Any Other Name

Puerto Rico: a Junta By Any Other Name | Global politics | Scoop.it
Empire is once again fashionable. The financial crisis that is presently gutting the island of Puerto Rico plays out like the world’s worst case of botched assisted suicide. The sell of its municipal funds and its constitutionally guaranteed promise of repayment to investors has plunged the island into a very precarious situation for its millions of citizens and the opportunity of a lifetime for hedge fund vultures. While it is laudable that the current economic meltdown on the island has made some headlines, including a mostly well-thought out piece by comedian John Oliver, the same cannot be said for the congressional knee-jerk legislative reaction to it. The bill, H.R. 4900, was designed to impose an oversight board meant to administer the fiscal responsibilities of the Puerto Rican people and has unleashed a firestorm of opposition that was glossed over by Oliver’s otherwise on-point observations. The controversy surrounding this bill has served as a catalyst underscoring the deep disregard bordering on contempt that frames the question of self-determination and complete lack of sovereignty afforded to islanders.

The Pragmatic Impacts of Sanders’ Big Dreams

The Pragmatic Impacts of Sanders’ Big Dreams | Global politics | Scoop.it
The race for the Democratic presidential nomination has pitted a dreamer against a realist, right? Bernie Sanders is the unrealistic one, and Hillary Clinton, the pragmatist, is the candidate who can get things done. That’s what many pundits say. But, even with Tuesday’s setbacks to the Sanders campaign, it’s worth examining which is actually unrealistic—Bernie’s pledge to make the country more equitable and sustainable? Or Hillary’s progressive talking points, given her deep ties to corporate power players?

What Next? Can the #Movement4Bernie Accomplish Anything?

What Next? Can the #Movement4Bernie Accomplish Anything? | Global politics | Scoop.it
The writing is on the wall for the Bernie Sanders campaign for President of the United States. The corporate run Democratic machine is not going to allow him the party’s nomination, and for many, this is not a surprise. Even before Hillary Clinton launched her campaign in April of 2015, she was already being touted by the party establishment and the media as the next president. When Sanders entered the campaign shortly after, it seemed Clinton’s chances may not be so secured, but the Democratic Party’s primary process is designed in such a way to offer voters an illusion of choice while allowing the party elite to make the electoral decision on their own, and they had already made up their minds.
Enrique Ferro's insight:
My question would rather be: How come Hillary Clinton is so successful with the Black constituency? Hillary reminds me Mowgli's Ka, and how the snake hypnotizes him as she prepares to eat him! Actually I couldn't find a single rational reason for this Black infatuation for a candidate who has insulted and harmed them so much, directly or in consurtium with her husband. All started as Bill inaugurated trhough the Haitian boatpeople, and hos he scorned them. Then there was the Crime Bill and the Superpredators being put to heel, resulting in a mass incarceration of the African Americans, and counting... Even his Welfare Reform impoverished more the Black poor, especially single mothers, as a result of the stamps slaughter... So now you tell me: The deceptive propaganda that Bill was his best friend, denied by the facts, hasn't been like Ka's hypnosis? Via pastors and local leaders indeed. Perhaps money was floating around? That would be rational. It makes me angry, but the fact is that these people love to shoot at their own feet...

Enrique Ferro's insight:
Nothing will be truly reached. There will be a lot of blah blah and deceptive promises (Hillary masters the trade), and as soon as they get the public support for their Queen of Chaos, Goddess of War, Wall Street and the Warmongers will continue their mischief, and the people their suffering. Too bad for they who voted ignoring the truth of the Establishment, and as for the others they'll have to reposition themselves. But certainly avoid swallowing the systemic lies.
