BRICS trample US in South America

BRICS trample US in South America | Global politics | Scoop.it
It started in April with a rash of deals between Argentina and Russia during President Cristina Kirchner’s visit to Moscow.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

So the long-term Big Picture remains inexorable; BRICS and South American nations – which converge in the Unasur (The Union of South American Nations) – are betting on a multipolar world order, and a continental process of independence.

It’s easy to see how that is oceans away from a Monroe doctrine.

Fort Russ: On the Russian Citizens Captured by Kiev

Fort Russ: On the Russian Citizens Captured by Kiev | Global politics | Scoop.it
Enrique Ferro's insight:

Aleksandrov and Yerofeyev most likely were there on an official mission, though not a combat one. Given their proximity to the front line and the small size of their team, they likely served the role of trusted eyes and ears on the ground. Given that what happens in LPR could lead the world to a brink of nuclear war, it's only to be expected that the Kremlin would want trusted sources of information on what is happening at the front lines. OSCE is not going to provide it, neither will Kiev or even LPR/DPR authorities who have their own priorities which may not always coincide with that of the Kremlin.

West's death squad strategy: How and why ISIS & Al-Qaeda became ‘shock troops’ of global powers

West's death squad strategy: How and why ISIS & Al-Qaeda became ‘shock troops’ of global powers | Global politics | Scoop.it
Friday’s ISIS suicide bombings in Yemen and Saudi Arabia – killing a total of at least 43 people – is yet more bitter fruit of the policy pursued by Britain, the US and France and their Gulf allies for the past eight years.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

The strategy was first revealed as far back as 2007 in Seymour Hersh’s article “The Redirection", which revealed how Bush administration officials were working with the Saudis to channel billions of dollars to sectarian death squads whose role would be to “throw bombs… at Hezbollah, Moqtada al-Sadr, Iran and at the Syrians,” in the memorable words of one US official.

Russia ready for dialogue, despite Western media attacks – Putin’s spokesman

Russia ready for dialogue, despite Western media attacks – Putin’s spokesman | Global politics | Scoop.it
Vladimir Putin’s spokesman has described attacks by US and UK media on Russia and its president as “loosely made up lies,” but said that Moscow was prepared to work with the West despite this “pinching and nibbling.”
Enrique Ferro's insight:

What is the big deal? We are used to see every day Russophobic and Putin-paranoid headlines, I mean EVERYDAY, in the Western media, both "respected" and tabloids... It is an irritant, as if they had nothing better to say, or rather as if they used this mantra in order to avoid speaking of the real thing, their NATO-government warmongering policies, and of course the misery they create with their impoverishing policies, or the people who are killed EVERYDAY by the US cops with impunity. The Western media has such a big gag, that all they are left to speak about is how evil is Russia and what a bad guy Putin is! Pathetic.

Ireland becomes first country to approve gay marriage in referendum

Ireland becomes first country to approve gay marriage in referendum | Global politics | Scoop.it
With all the votes now counted, Ireland has become the first nation in the world to legalize same-sex marriages by popular vote.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

Ireland used to be one of the most Catholic-reactionary countries in Europe, rivalled only by Poland. Not long ago they had to fight another referendum for divorce! So now it is catching up, and the Church is bound to retreat from its meddling in civil life. Congrats, Ireland!

THE BATTLE FOR PALMYRA: WHAT REALLY HAPPENED ACCORDING TO OUR MILITARY SOURCES | Global politics | Scoop.it
HOMS:   Tadmur (Palmyra):  Even nominally friendly sites like NSNBC are misreporting events in this historically important town in the far east of Homs Governorate.   Many sites are simply making the fatuous statement that the entire city of Palmyra has been overrun by ISIS fanatics and that includes Alalam and Al-Mayaadeen.  Interesting to note that neither news source has anyone on the ground there to report directly. Two days ago, the SAA and militias supported by local tribesmen and the ubiq

Fort Russ: A Few Thoughts About Tomorrow | Global politics | Scoop.it
Enrique Ferro's insight:

But what is the “president” and the “government” concerned with right now? They are babbling about the visa-free regime, joining the EU, Yatsenyuk is breaking off military-technical cooperation with Russia (which automatically means the loss of tens of thousands of jobs and additional drop in the GDP), and are preparing to launch another round of fighting on the Donbass (which will end like all the previous ones, with encirclements and thousands of dead).

How Europe changed its tune- 60 years of Eurovision

How Europe changed its tune- 60 years of Eurovision | Global politics | Scoop.it
On Saturday night in the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna the grand final of the 60th Eurovision Song Contest takes place. Twenty-seven countries, not all of European, will compete for the prize, won last year by the Austrian ‘bearded lady’ Conchita Wurst.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

The Hungarian entry this year is a song about the futility of war called ‘Wars for nothing’. Who could possibly object to that? Well, the Israeli Ambassador to Hungary for one. He protested about the song because one of the captions in the song’s video contained the words: "2014 – Gaza – two-thirds of the victims were civilians, including more than 500 children."

The ambassador complained to Hungary’s broadcasting authority and the offending words were taken out.

I’d call that censorship, but the West’s free speech anti-censorship crusaders weren‘t at all interested. Keith Walker, of Euronews, did though pick up on the irony ‘Israel who’s PM marched in Paris defending free speech, protests’ Hungary’s Eurovision entry’

‘US hunts for Russians’: Moscow warns citizens traveling abroad

‘US hunts for Russians’: Moscow warns citizens traveling abroad | Global politics | Scoop.it
Russia has urged its citizens to weigh all the risks before traveling abroad, warning that the US is on a global “hunt” for Russian nationals, according to the latest statement published by the Foreign Ministry.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

As the exceptional power, the US feels a divine-like disrespect for any internationally sanctioned civilized practice, and does whatever it likes. What can you expect when it subjects its own citizens to free killing with impunity by its own law enforcement agents, or drones, or spies anyone in the world, has weird judges kidnapping national states' finances, indulges into bombing any country it pleases? We the citizens of the world including Americans are subjected to the whims of an unlawful regime. It will last, so better have it in mind and get used to such a scandalous behaviour. Accompanied by the forceful silence of the global gagged media...
