Europe’s Courageous Journalism Voice Has Passed Away

Europe’s Courageous Journalism Voice Has Passed Away | Global politics | Scoop.it
Enrique Ferro's insight:
Due to the arrogance that resides in Washington, the would be overlords of the world are not aware that Russia and China are not Iraq and Libya. If the moronic idiots that rule in Washington bring us into war with these powers, the United States will disappear from history along with the rest of the world.

Can Trump Take Back The Presidency From The CIA?

Can Trump Take Back The Presidency From The CIA? | Global politics | Scoop.it
If Trump intends to survive, he must break the CIA into a thousand pieces as President John F. Kennedy intended before the CIA assassinated him. Trump must arrest for treason the neoconservatives and put them on trial. Trump must curtail NSA’s spying, which is in complete violation of the US Constitution, on all communications of […]

The dodgy Trump dossier reminds me of the row over Saddam’s WMDs | Global politics | Scoop.it
I read the text of the dossier on Donald Trump’s alleged dirty dealings with a scepticism that soon turned into complete disbelief. The memo has all the hallmarks of such fabrications, which is too much detail – and that detail largely uncheckable – and too many names of important people placed there to impress the reader with […]

Saudi Arabia's top cleric calls vocal music and cinema 'a depravity'

Saudi Arabia's top cleric calls vocal music and cinema 'a depravity' | Global politics | Scoop.it
Saudi Arabia is ruled by an oppressive regime with one of the worst human rights records in the world, and it's only getting worse.
Enrique Ferro's insight:
Of course, in Saudi Arabia it is not a depravity to repress and murder Shia Muslims. It is not a depravity to ban Christian holy days and it is not a depravity to finance and encourage terrorist groups like Al-Qaeda and ISIS. It is also perfectly normal to stone women to death and behead people for things which in almost every other state in the world are not crimes.

German Journalist Who Blew Whistle on CIA Media Control Drops Dead at 56

German Journalist Who Blew Whistle on CIA Media Control Drops Dead at 56 | Global politics | Scoop.it
Udo Ulfkotte, a German journalist and former editor of Germany's prestigous newpaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung who spoke out in recent years about the control of his profession by the CIA and US government, has died of a heart attack. He was 56.Russia Insider conducted an exclusive interview with Ulfkotte in October 2014. Here is an excerpt:
Enrique Ferro's insight:
Ja, ja, natural causes, jawohl, a heart attack at 56. Why not? He wasn't only a whitleblower of CIA and Washington buying journalists (and/or editors, we might say with the result of a monolithic presstitute environment) Gekaufte Journalisten, he was also a critic of Merkel's migrant folly, publishing several books which may have made the establishment uneasy, to put it mildly (Die Asyl-Industrie, Vorsicht Burgerkrieg!, Mekka Deutschland).

Trump Turns Foreign Policy Inside Out - Invu with London Times and Bild

Trump Turns Foreign Policy Inside Out - Invu with London Times and Bild | Global politics | Scoop.it
Over the weekend, the President-elect received two journalists from mainstream European print media for a joint interview in Trump Tower, New York:  The Times of London and the German magazine Bild. The event was videotaped and we are seeing today on television and on the respective websites of these papers some of the remarkable sound bites from the interview, particularly those which the British or the Germans will take very much to heart.
Enrique Ferro's insight:
In the past 22 or so years, going back to the second term of Bill Clinton, the ideology of Neoconservatism with its stress on democracy promotion as being the whole of national interest, dictated policy decisions that amounted to the tail wagging the dog. The Baltic States were admitted into NATO in its 2004 enlargement because they wanted it. The decision to station US, German and other NATO brigades in Poland and other states along the Russian border taken last July in Warsaw and implemented, in the case of Poland, by US forces in the past several days, was justified by the anxiety of these countries over the possibility of Russian aggression, even though our action has been highly provocative vis-à-vis Russia and brought us ever closer to direct confrontation.

Normalizing Relations with Moscow: U.S. Aristocracy Panics that Maybe Trump Is Serious

Normalizing Relations with Moscow: U.S. Aristocracy Panics that Maybe Trump Is Serious | Global politics | Scoop.it
The «realignment across the board within American political parties» is actually a realignment only in the field of foreign policy — not at all in domestic policy. What used to be «Republican foreign policy» ever since the time of Richard Nixon, has been called «neoconservatism» — referring to a hard line against communism and then against Russia and any country that’s friendly toward Russia — but the incoming Republican President Trump campaigned consistently against neoconservatism, and now Democrats are almost solidly neocons, while some Republicans are actually joining the Republican President in condemning neocons.
Enrique Ferro's insight:
«‘What you are seeing on Russia within the Republican Party is in some ways more a symptom of realignment across the board within American political parties,’ said Matthew Rojansky, director of the Washington-based Kennan Institute. ‘This speaks to something very critical that’s going on in our political system right now.’»

Unconvincing Forgery, The Alleged Donald Trump "Manchurian Candidate": The Steele Dossier or the Hitler Diaries Mark II | Global politics | Scoop.it

Enrique Ferro's insight:
Michael Cohen has now stated he has never been to Prague in his life. If that is true the extremely weak credibility of the entire forgery collapses in total. What is more, contrary to the claims of the Guardian and Washington Post that the material is “unverifiable”, the veracity of it could be tested extremely easily by the most basic journalism, ie asking Mr Cohen who has produced his passport. The editors of the Washington Post and the Guardian are guilty of pushing as blazing front page news the most blatant forgery to serve their own political ends, without carrying out the absolutely basic journalistic checks which would easily prove the forgery. Those editors must resign.

Not Yet Inaugurated; Already a New War  : Information Clearing House - ICH | Global politics | Scoop.it
Enrique Ferro's insight:
Further reflection on the precise “turning point” shows things dramatically changed and reversed, when Mr Trump expressed his sentiments about Russia. He insisted, he did not want a war with Russia, and he would move to “reset” US relations with Russia. That was the turning point, and from that day on he was subjected to relentless criticism and ridicule, by corporate media outlets. He was accused of being an unwitting tool of Putin. This was followed by a plethora of stories about his close relations with Russia, and the possible relationships members of his administration had with Russia. Now there were two villains; Trump and Russia, and they were always depicted as more or less one in the same. The Russophobes were in full attack. Russia, their new scapegoat, was vilified and called all kinds of nonsensical things, and was accused of all that is evil in the world.

It appears more and more that President Trump is going to be a lot like candidate Trump. During the campaign he was expressing many unconventional views, but there was always the question if he's going to stick to his guns, or mellow once in office.Well with just a few days to go until he is sworn in he does not appear to be mellowing at all.    Did John McCain 'Launder' Dodgy Trump Intel Dossier?  : Information Clearing House - ICH | Global politics | Scoop.it
Enrique Ferro's insight:
Senator McCain is the Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, one of the most powerful members of the US Senate. Consider the impact of being handed a strange report by some private intelligence-firm-for-hire or a media outlet versus being handed a report by one of the most powerful men in the US government. McCain's involving himself in the case gave the report a sense of legitimacy that it would not otherwise have had. Was this "laundering" intentional on his part? We do not know, but given his position on Trump and Russia that possibility must be considered.

Dangerous Crossroads: Trump's Defense Nominee General James “Mad Dog” Mattis Outlines Plans for Global War

Dangerous Crossroads: Trump's Defense Nominee General James “Mad Dog” Mattis Outlines Plans for Global War | Global politics | Scoop.it
The performance of the Democrats, including its “left” faction led by Warren, demonstrates that there is no peace faction within the American ruling class. Whatever their transient differences over the immediate target, the turn toward war to pursue the interests of the American capitalist oligarchy is the consensus policy of both parties.
Enrique Ferro's insight:
All of those present—Democrats and Republicans alike—heaped praise on Mattis during the three-and-one-half hour hearing. Not a single senator asked the nominee how he might scale down US wars, which are currently raging in several countries. Instead, senators vied with each other in appealing to Mattis to identify threats to “national security” that will be immediately confronted by the Trump administration. No senator, including the supposedly “left” Democrat Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, asked the retired Marine General about his record in the occupation of Iraq, where he was implicated in war crimes. Mattis led the savage Marine counteroffensive that retook the Iraqi city of Fallujah in December 2004, and he ordered an air strike that year against a wedding party in which over 40 civilians were killed. Nor was he challenged about a public speech he made in which he stated it was “fun” to kill some people.
