Pambazuka - Human rights and humanitarian imperialism in Syria

Pambazuka - Human rights and humanitarian imperialism in Syria | Global politics | Scoop.it

"For those who might say that as human rights defenders we must stand with the people of Syria, I say that many of us stood with those who were attempting to struggle within the context of their own realities in Syria, calling for social and economic change, but rejecting outside intervention. And there were many who did so, from the National Coordinating Council for Democratic Change (NCC), to the Popular Front for Liberation and Change (PFCL). [18] But that principled stand does not mean that we will allow ourselves to be used by the West to mystify imperialism. Today thousands have lost their lives in Syria with the possibility that there will be even more loss of life. This monstrous crime must be placed at the foot of US and Western imperialism and all who allowed themselves to become collaborators in the name of humanitarianism"

Ukraine Atrocities: The Illegal Use of White Phosphorous Fire Bombs Against Donetsk Civilians

Ukraine Atrocities: The Illegal Use of White Phosphorous Fire Bombs Against Donetsk Civilians | Global politics | Scoop.it
A report on August 15th from Russian Television alleged that the Ukrainian government that the U.S. installed in February of this year was resorting to internationally banned white phosphorous fire...
Enrique Ferro's insight:

The Ukrainian separatists are the residents in Ukraine’s southeast, where Viktor Yanukovych, the Ukrainian President, was elected overwhelmingly by the votes of the people in this region in 2010. They reject the government that Obama installed, and are therefore seeking independence from it. They reject that government not so much because Obama is forcing it on them, as because that government is trying to exterminate them.

СМИ: У Запада нет доказательств «вторжения» России на Украину | Global politics | Scoop.it

Combat kittens & hipster jihadists: ISIS target kids to spread their cause

Combat kittens & hipster jihadists: ISIS target kids to spread their cause | Global politics | Scoop.it
Islamic State members may hate Western culture, but they are quick to embrace Western technology that helps spread their message far and wide. The militants’ social media offensive ranges from videos of beheadings to pictures of cute jihadist kittens.
Enrique Ferro's insight:

"Islamic State members may hate Western culture, but they are quick to embrace Western technology that helps spread their message far and wide."
And this is their paramount weakness, alongside their hatred against women: unable to invent anything for their deeply rooted science denial, they depend so much on foreign technology that they cannot liberate anybody or found a lasting state, as by "purifying" the population finally they cannot develop a modern society, which they hate anyway. Home-locked women and scientists executed for impiety are an ominous recipe back to the Dark Ages.
