With this new regulatory approval, DuPont can now offer an extensive range of enzymes to the Indonesian bakery and flour milling industry. 

The Indonesian National Drug and Food Control Agency, Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan (BPOM) has recently approved five enzymes which are part of the DuPont Danisco range of ingredients for bakery solutions. With this new regulatory approval, DuPont can now offer an extensive range of enzymes to the Indonesian bakery and flour milling industry.

A gluten-free diet may have a downside: increased blood levels of arsenic and mercury, according to a preliminary report.

Researchers analysed data on 7,471 participants in a larger national health study, of whom 73 reported being on a gluten-free diet. Concentrations of urinary arsenic in those on the diet were nearly twice as high as in those not on it.

A Feedmill located on the outskirts of Geelong in the town of Lara was officially opened on February 6 by the Federal Member for Corangamite Sarah Henderson and Ridley CEO Tim Hart. 

With an initial annual production capacity of 250,000 tonnes, the mill is located near the key growth areas for poultry and pig production and will benefit from proximity to raw material grain supply and logistics.

Australia’s largest grain handler CBH faces a big damage bill and delays to shipments at one of the most crucial moments of the season after record rains over the weekend. 

The emergency is a blow to grain farmers, who had been celebrating a record harvest. The co-operative confirmed flooding at a receival site in Borden north of Albany, where grain was held after local growers collected it after harvest.

Increasing consumer demand for organic and non-GMO foods led to a sharp rise in organic grain imports in 2016 — prompting food manufacturers to explore new incentives for U.S. growers transitioning to organic production, according to a new report from CoBank. 

While U.S. production of non-GMO crops has risen, domestic production of organic corn and soybeans remains well short of demand.

The Department of Agriculture has been accused of having a "lack of contingency plans" to safeguard farmers and the Irish agri-food sector from a hard Brexit. 

In response to a parliamentary question asked by Fianna Fáil TD Charlie McConalogue, it was revealed the department has assigned just three staff members to a dedicated Brexit unit. It also emerged that Bord Bia plans to hire just four additional staff at an estimated cost of €183,000.

The results from District 2 were down to the wire but Morawa grower Rod Madden and Vern Dempster from Northam have been re-elected in the CBH director elections. 

In District 2 Mr Dempster was returned with 236 votes, while Cunderdin farmer Stuart Mussared received 229, a margin of just seven votes. CBH Group Chairman Wally Newman congratulated the directors on their appointments.

The Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe, which represents the country’s major milling companies, said it wants the government to impose a 40 percent of tariffs on imports of corn and corn meal because its struggling to compete with cheaper South African corn grown from genetically modified seeds. 

The imports are harming Zimbabwe’s attempts to improve food security by boosting local production, Tafadzwa Musarara, the chairman of the association said in an e-mailed response to questions on Thursday.

UK peach–potato aphid populations continue to show widespread resistance to pyrethroids and pirimicarb, according to AHDB-funded monitoring work. 

As part of the work, live samples of UK peach–potato aphid, taken from field and protected crops, are screened for resistance to key chemical groups by Rothamsted Research.

Firefighters kept an eye on the Dakota Mill and Grain elevator at the edge of downtown Belle Fourche late Wednesday afternoon after extinguishing a fire caused by an overheated rubber and plastic belt. 

Smoke from the overheated belt, which moves the grain, brought an immediate evacuation of the tall grain silo and a call to the fire department a little before 11 a.m.
