Interesting article in the Huffington Post: Global leaders and forward-thinking philanthropists and donors committed to eradicating Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) by signing onto The London Declaration. This is a great acheivement and strong step towards combining forces to eradicate NTDs. NTDs infections are considered one of the main reasons why the "bottom billion" struggle to escape poverty. Successfully eradicating NTDs will transform the world. Sadly, the water and sanitation sector will continue to be left behind in the bold initiatives that will shape our world -- including those that are directly related to water and sanitation -- unless we collectively commit to eradicating water poverty worldwide.
There are two sides to the debate over the use of chemical additives to complete the process called hydraulic fracturing, or fracking. The oil and gas industry says the amounts of chemical used are safe. Critics say otherwise. Good food for thought. What's your opinion?
