We've dreamt about our fair share of beaches by day... from the best ones in the Caribbean to the most scandalous nude beaches in the world.
But what's the only better thing than a beach swathed in sunlight? A beach that's straight-up littered wit...
When I ask students what was their best experience of Oman they often say seeing the stars out in the desert or on the beach. I have to agree seeing the Milky Way away from any light pollution is awesome.
The much-awaited Carnevale di Venezia kicks off Saturday, February 15. This year’s theme is “La natura fantastica,” in celebration of a fairy-like carnival, of the wondrous, the dreamy and the fantastic. The carnival's centuries-old tradition is taking global inspiration this year by the masks of the European tradition, by Arab and Middle Eastern tales, by symbols of African and Mesoamerican cultures, by Indian, Mongolian and Chinese allegories. Every year the Venice Carnival attracts thousands of people. The city’s streets and squares will be alive with festivals and events of all kinds until March 4: from concerts in Piazza San Marco to historical dances and performances, to musical happy hours and children’s events. High Line Park in New York, a wonderful place and an integral part of any art visit to NYC. Students loved the feeling of natural space floating above the busy city streets. Our Brooklyn guides also made it a hugely entertaining tour of the city.
From classic wine-touring regions to exciting newcomers, our editors guide you to the very best in wine, food and cultural adventure.
OK, this is strictly for teachers and not your students! Wine is an essential fuel for some teachers I know to keep them energised for a heavy marking load in the evening.
We have visited wine regions across the world and almost without fail they are in beautiful spots. Puglia, Italy was a highlight, Mendoza under the Andes mountains, Limestone Coast or Margaret River in Oz - great memories, great wines and lovely scenery.
If you can't make up your mind where to go on your next holiday check out the Wine Enthusiast's list (drinking the wine is optional).

Oman is one of the best places in the world to see dolphins. Seeing pods of hundreds of spinner dolphins is not uncommon but there are several other different species to see. We were fortunate to also catch sight of a couple of whalesharks, a few turtles and some sea snakes. Not bad for a morning ride on a boat! There were a few moans about the early start from the group but that was soon forgotten in the excitement of the morning's trip.
Walking in the streets of Berlin is like entering into a contemporary art museum full of creative art on every wall, corner, bridge and any possible empty space waiting to be ‘decorated’ and the best part of it is that is free of charge.
Not every day and in every city will you have the ...
Berlin, great city for language, history and contemporary art.
From sky-high planks to iron-cable pathways, we take a look at some of the scariest hikes around the globe
Another article on via ferrata , the scary 'iron' routes that require a safety harness to travel on. Great fun for students and teachers alike and they get you into the most stunning mountaineer scenery.
Some of these walks in the article are too scary for me, so check the route that you want to use is suitable to the age group you are travelling with, is well maintained and use the trained local guides.
