An Open Letter to Ghost Producers

An Open Letter to Ghost Producers | Ghost Producing | Scoop.it
Today, we present ghost producers with this open letter.
Robert O'Leary's insight:

The main topic is very similar to this one because this is about people complaining against ghost production. They take the position of wanting the industry to stay real and not flooded with all this fakeness.

Ghost producers exist in every genre of music. A significant amount of top 40s music is written by a whole team of people and in a lot of cases does not include much contribution from the artist themselves. I think this article is great and starts out by playing devils advocate a bit but then shows the other side and asks you to decide for yourself.

This is just one of many examples of how ghost producing is being used in today's entertainment. The problem is so common that even record companies will use ghost producers to increase their "gains" whatever they may be.

Robert O'Leary's insight:

My topic that I choose was about ghost producing in the electronic music world. There has been a lot of controversy surrounding this issue because some of the top djs and top songs are not making the music they say they are. in my personal opinion I believe that there should not be ghost producers, you should work for what you get and joist make your own music.

Since my opinion, is negative and against the issue there tens to be more con than pros in the issue. Just a few of the cons are there is a false image of the person people look up to. Also they are taking all your hard work but your not allowed to tell anybody that the work is yours. Therefor you will not get credit for any of it. Last but not least it floods the industry with fake people, and I hate fake people.

The pros of the issue are slim but there are some. If you don’t want any attention but need some side money you can make it by selling tracks to producers. Another pro can be a major label finds out who you are because of your ghost production work and then sign you to the label because of it.

Here is an example of an artist that does not condone ghost producing for other dj's themselves but if it is for an act or performance, he does not see it to be a problem.

Sean Monahan's curator insight, November 6, 2014 1:46 PM

Nicky Romero has a good point on ghost producing. I understand when he says if you ghost produce with another Dj or producer the audience might get you mixed up. This source is very reliable coming from a person who has great success in this scene and knows whats going on.
