Jaw Pain and TMJ - Get Great Voice Overs

Jaw Pain and TMJ - Get Great Voice Overs | GETTING STARTED IN VOICEOVERS: DO IT BETTER | Scoop.it
TMJ is an abbreviation for the “temporomandibular joint”. I know it's hard to say, so if you can't pronounce it, think “jaw joints.” The TMJs are the small joints in front of each ear that attach the lower jaw (mandible) to the skull.
Bettye Zoller's insight:

A wonderful exercise for this is the "village idiot" pose...let your jaw hinges become totally relaxed. Just hang. Do not raise them suddenly, but slowly.

Do this several times per day. BE RELAXED in your jaw hinges. You'll notice the difference.

What happened when I tried hiring a voiceover online? AmericanVoice.dk | GETTING STARTED IN VOICEOVERS: DO IT BETTER | Scoop.it

Knowing your competition is important in any business. As an in-studio voiceover, online voiceovers are my main competition. (There are, of course, other English voiceovers in Copenhagen, but we’re a relatively small group, and most of the others have British accents.) But it’s no secret that it’s quick and easy to hire a voiceover online....

Interactive theatre: five rules of play from an audience perspective

Interactive theatre: five rules of play from an audience perspective | GETTING STARTED IN VOICEOVERS: DO IT BETTER | Scoop.it
Audiences have never been hungrier for experience, but these productions need a rigorous approach, says Miriam Gillinson

Via The Digital Rocking Chair
Bettye Zoller's insight:

Audiences today are weary of being PASSIVE. Involve them and soon, you'll get your name and your work noticed. Second City, the famous Chicago comedy training ground, has long known that the fav part of their productions is when the actors leave stage and the audience uses post it notes to give ideas for skits. Involve the audience and they'll be YOURS.

Nicole Zandi's curator insight, April 30, 2013 5:52 PM

This a new age for enjoying performances. We invited the radio into our homes. We opened our door to televisions, to the internet and everything else that has come with it. But this is a reversal in the arts, where we the audience are being invited in. Theatre is no longer set in building- but like heart that defines the home, the audience will now define the performance.

Melissa M's comment, May 5, 2013 3:42 AM
This article is useful when designing your own theatrical pieces for assignments. It allows you to think if you want a passive or interactive audience, and where the boundaries lie for this style of theatre.
Alicia Caruana's curator insight, May 7, 2013 3:48 AM

How can a director produce an effective interactive theatre performance?

Why do many interactive performances fail to fulfill their purpose?

Can we support millions of newcomers to voice overs? I don't think so. Only the best and hardest workers will survive. And the people who think "commercials" are barking up the wrong dog. It's audio books today that make the money. My next audio book seminar is in Dallas October 25. Call 214-638-TALK (8255) for more info. Very inexpensive too!

Art, you raise two very thoughtful points. Group curation will always improve results. Communities are possible solutions. I've been curating in 1 form or another since About.com was called The Mining Company. Community made it at work better which is why Scoop.it is so exciting. Great comments! Thanks.
'Timothy Leyfer's curator insight, January 27, 2013 12:29 AM

Robin persues the question of what we should aim for in content curation by taking a look at what content curation is not. It is not just selecting stuff and dumping it on your customers.

While this article is aimed at journalyst, there is alot of stuff that we can learn from it that can help in our content marketing efforts.

Great information from one of the masters of Content Curation, Robin Good - Check it out

Stephen Dale's curator insight, February 20, 2013 12:00 PM

Confirms what most of us have come to realise: good curation is a human skill and not something that can be trusted to computer algorithims....or people in marketing!

Musical Chairs Game With Coaches: Don't Go Behind Their Backs. Be Upfront! | GETTING STARTED IN VOICEOVERS: DO IT BETTER | Scoop.it

From Bettye Zoller: Voicesvoices.com

It's commonplace: A talent decides to study with another coach. That's fine. But don't sneak around, sign up for classes, make a demo with another coach when you've got a great relationship going with the teacher who's helped you. Be upfront. Gently tell your current coach of your decision to seek training from another person. Part friends. Don't hide the fact that you're seeking another's counsel. Assure your current coach that this does not mean you don't adore them and revere their teachings. See?
