Life as we know it is over when starting a career as a single parent. I know now that I will be running like a headless chicken. Although i am excited to get a job, i am frighten that I will be forced to grow up, make dinner for the family, pay bills, and be in charge of making life function properly for my family. I believe that it starts at home, if you are happy at home then the work life should fall right into place. i try to stay positive, so that i can have that smile on at all times while out serving in the hospitality field. Lastly it is very important to stay healthy inside and out of the work place.

The things said in this video are very very important things to know. Life changing things that can make you a better person and make make you find the right career that you will love. I have always felt as if I needed to be a nurse, because nursing was big in my family, but for me nursing was very boring. and i could not stand to be in a hospital or around sick people, and even though i choose to go to school for hospitality management mentally i still think about being a nurse and how great it will make my mother feel. But after this video i no longer feel bad for wanting to work in a career that best suites me.

Patricia D. Sadar's insight:

I know that you have heard this before; however, so many people either forget to send the thank you letter or send out after the hiring decision has been made.

I have to tell you, when the hiring decision has come down to a couple of equally talented individuals -- often the thank you letter sealed the deal for the person who demonstrated their motivation, interest, and follow through.

My advice:  Already have the stamp on the envelope the day you are interviewing and write that day!  Email thank you letters are nice; however, letters sent in the mail make an even bigger impact!

5 Myths About Landing Your First Job or Internship
BostInno (blog)
As a recent college grad, I'm all too familiar with the painful process of landing your first gig.
Patricia D. Sadar's insight:

This article is spot on!

The difference between how you approach a college interview vs. a job interview:

Approach to colleges should be to achieve the best grades, showcase varied hobbies and interests, and to be a well-rounded interesting human being.

Applying to jobs is different. Its not about showcasing how great you are and the long list of ways you are interesting.  What the employer wants to know is ..... What can you do for us?  Are you a right fit?  How much value can you add to the position, the department, and the company?
