Okay here’s this week’s GetAtMe Urban Airplay Scorecard.
Drakes ONE DANCE is tops in spin increases this week (451) and is sitting at num 7 with on itunes (it seems like Drake and Rihanna just trade num1s…) #UrbanRadio
Desiigner PANDA talk about the little train that could, this cut just keeps on doing its thing (in spite of the haters…). It picked up 397 spins and stays at num 10 ( also in spite of the Prince and Beyonce onslaught…#ThatsCrazy) #ItsAHit
Twenty88 ON THE WAY comes in at num3. Big Sean and Jhene Aiko came together to make this nice track. With 309 spins increases, this cut could be a hit when its sales kick in… #DjAlert
S-Eighty HALFWAY is the surprise of the week (this is a nice cut). Youtube views are driving this cut along with a Lil Wayne remix. It picked up 263 spins but hasn’t showed up in the itunes 200 yet (those views have to convert into sales…) #CheckItOut
Rihanna NEEDED ME is a beast (come on its Rihanna…). With its great video and street buzz (the ladies love this cut…), it picks up 216 spins and is sitting at num 28 on itunes (Rihanna keeps em coming) #BadGirlRiRi
That’s this week’s GetAtMe Urban Airplay Scorecard.
Rihanna is the epitome of the “bad girl in control” (that’s sorta what makes her sexy…) and these lyrics from her new single NEEDED ME exemplifies this. She said volumes in these bars.
“Don’t get it twisted, you were just another n*gga on a hitlist, trying to fix the issues of a bad b*tch. Didn’t they tell you I was a savage...?” (#LSMH, unapologetically bad…). It seems that Rihanna want to clearly let it be known, that no one owns her and she’s never gonna be the victim and all who wish to be (or already is) involved need to remember that… #Lovett
GetAtMeMiniMixxx ft Rayven Justice Between Her Thighs and Marq Dean FWB.These new tracks are from 2 up and coming artist ON DA VERGE from GetAtMe. Rayven Justice delivers the aexy soulful track and Marq Dean has a FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS discussion. 2 great beats, 2 great cuts. #GetAtMe#ItsAboutTheMusic DJ MIXES HIP HOP/RnB Hip Hop
GetAtMe SpotLightMixxx 0001 ft Marq Dean Exotixxx (ft Rihanna & Drake) is a RnB / Hip Hop Mix uplaoded by GetAtMe in Apr 2016 - In this series that we call the GetAtMe SpotlightMixxx, we feature a track we like in multiple blends. We like Marq Deans EXOTIXXX and we decided to blend it in with some of todays top hits. Enjoy and GetAtMe
There are 2 artist now that we know definitely will sell. Rihanna and Drake. It’s proven. Drake and Rihanna sell like no other artist at this time (I mean #frfr no one). BITCH BETTER HAVE MY MONEY, BACK TO BACK, HOTLINE BLING, WORK, ONE DANCE and now NEEDED ME. All these songs in common, huge sales number. Not only are these songs popular but they are selling in huge numbers (really huge numbers…). These two artists constantly have back to back hits. Are Rihanna and Drake the new hiphop royalty? If sales numbers are the indicator, then yes.
What is it about these two that they have now become the voice for their generation (and pockets)? Is it just the music? Is it just they’re style? Is it a combination of both? I think it’s all three. Rihanna and Drake both have that streak of star rebellioness that helps a new generation define its voice. They both know what to say and when to say it (that’s something that stars do to both define and lead in its fans lane and voice…).
You see it takes more than THE MACHINE to develop a star and a star’s movement (contrary to beliefs of some of today’s PR idolmaker’s ideas…). It also takes the star’s ability to connect and speak to their fans in their fans voice and space at the right moment. Elvis did it, the Beatles did it, Michael Jackson did it and so did Prince. It seems that Rihanna and Drake have the ability to do this on autopilot.
GetAtMe MiniMixxx ft Drake OneDance Rihanna YouNeededMe is a RnB / Hip Hop Mix uplaoded by GetAtMe in Apr 2016 - On this new GetAtMe MiniMixxx we spotlight 2 of today's top new cuts. Drake's new ONE DANCE is a hot new cut that trending off the charts and Rihanna's NEEDED ME is on the move ( we have a special YOU NEEDED ME mix for you Rihanna fans. #GetAtMe
Okay here’s this week’s Urban Airplay Scorecard… • Rihnanna’s NEEDED ME was top in spin increases this week (Rihanna’s on her way to her next hit…) with 581 spin increases and is at num 59 on itunes. Drake POPSTYLE crashed into urban radio at #2 with 500 spin increases and was num 22 on itunes. Desiigner’s PANDA is num 3 with 381 spin increases (and the num1 hiphop record in the country…) and is at num 3 on itunes. Drake’s second cut ONE DANCE had 379 spin increases and is num 5 on itunes (ONE DANCE is strong…) and we end it up with Bryson Tiller’s EXCHANGE with 355 spin increases and he’s at num 133 on itunes. That’s this week’s GetAtMe Urban Airplay ScoreCard #ItsAboutTheMusic #GetAtMe
With the sudden passing of the music legend Prince, I think it caught all of us who are fans off guard, so it took me a moment for me to feel right about doing this mix tribute (because I’m truly a fan and I wanted to make sure I did the mix I was really feeling…). This was a real personal mix for me and if at any time “ItsAboutTheMusic” it’s now with the passing of this musical icon.
On this mix we have a live performance of I WANNA BE YOUR LOVER (man this crowd was all in on this track, classic PRINCE). Then we blend into the PRINCE classic I WILL DIE FOR YOU (this dance mix really reminds us of the reach this cat had worldwide). Of course we had to blend in WHEN DOVES CRY (one of my personal favorites) and then we bring in a dance mix of GET OFF (this mix had crazy energy...).
PRINCE was a true artist and this mix is a quick glimpse into the musical genius of PRINCE for his fans. PRINCE will be missed but his music will last forever…
If you haven’t seen The Breakfast Club interview with Trick Daddy, I don’t know what you’re waiting on. The Breakfast Club is known for classic controversial current and trending interviews on radio. These interviews are most of the time entertaining. But this Trick Daddy interview is FRFR classic.
Trick Daddy is known for speaking his mind and on this interview he gave it all to us (this is one of the few interviews where Charlamagne just sat back and listened). You can’t pay for an interviews like this. This interview is a radio morning show’s dream. This is how you wake folks up. Trick kept em talking all day with this interview. It was the raw, no cut. But that’s Trick Daddy.
Check out this interview and Imma tell you, this is how you get invited back because this was a great radio moment. As a matter of fact, he barely spoke on the current music (he’s gonna let the music speak for itself). Trick came on The Breakfast Club and made it a real barbershop conversation. You’re gonna love this. “I don’t smoke the loud, I smoke the quiet…” classic Trick Daddy.
There’s a saying “that a picture say a 1000 words”, well this video says volumes. Rihanna has always established that she’s gonna be true to her roots and this video is just an extension of that. But FRFR folks Rihanna is on her way to a movie and this video looks like nothing less than a demo reel for movie producers and booking agents (Rihanna wants to be in Bad Boy 4 on the for real tip…). Its seems that Rihanna has decided what’s next for her (no matter what someone else thinks. It’s clear their time is about over #IWonderWho).
SONG- This song is hot and the video compliments it well… 4.6 pts
PRODUCTION- This production is top notch (as expected by Rihanna). The dark club setting sets the island tone (sort of like SPRING BREAKERS meets SCARFACE…) 4.5 PTS
STORY- This theme worked well. This video looked like a coming attractions clip (which really works)… 3.8pts
TIMING- Dropping this right on the heels of the WORK single and other trending online gossip issues is either great planning or just dumb luck. Either way it works… 3.7 pts
HITFACTOR- Come on its Rihanna, it’s hard for her to miss…. 4.7pts
TOTAL- 21.3 pts (out of 25 pts) grade A This ones gonna work. This video will start a conversation in the streets but the dj’s and fans are gonna deliver this cut,
Okay on this GetAtMe3PcSnack we introduce a new series called OnDaVerge where we spotlight new and upcoming artist and songs. A lot of times I hear great cut but I know some of these artist don’t have the industry momentum to position themselves for a win. So we decided to create a series dedicated to these new artists. Here’s the stats:
Rayven Justice BETWEEN YOUR THIGHS 96bpms- First off you know this hook is hot and it may come off well with female buyers. This is a great track from Rayven Justice and this could easily become a dj record. This sexy hook and track has a great upside… Score 51.6 grade C (This one might be a sleeper… #DjAlert BeatMakanixxx Mixxx)
T-Pain LOOK AT ME 80bpms - Man this thing here has some energy. T-Pain always delivers on the tracks and has delivered on this one. This cut is great cut to mix (should Chris Brown have done this song?). Djs and T-Pain fans are gonna feel this one… Score 63.5 grade B (Dj’s will have to deliver this one…)
Marq Dean- FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS 76bpms- This is an album cut from Marq Dean (the sexy phone call…). This is a mixtape ride cut (strong cut, BeatMakanixxx Mixxx). Marq Dean is making moves and building his brand and fanbase ( iammarqdean.com )… Score 41.9 grade C- (this is a great ride cut and has that backblend feel that works for streaming cuts.)
Desiigner is #1 on Billboard (who would have seen that coming? Who? GetAtMe…). That’s right #1. Do you know why? Because the sales are legit. Here’s what’s special about this accomplishment. Desiigner’s PANDA survived the Prince tsunami (sales motivated by Princes death. 52 cuts in the itunes top 100. Over half of the top itunes 100) and the Beyonce firestorm (mostly motivated by streams from Tidal. How does anyone really believe a listen (that is what a stream is) is the same as someone reaching in their pocket and spending money I’ll never know? That’s like beating a video game with the cheat book. “look yall I won… #lsmh). This song has proven to be as impactive as the Bobby Shmurda’s cut HOT N*GGAS (maybe it’s a Jersey thang…).
Real #1’s gets the real trophies. Congrates to Pusha T and Desiigner. “panda, panda, panda…”
Man my blog has become an obituary section as of late. This is crazy. We have lost another musical legend. Prince, one of music greatest artist has passed. He will be missed.
Artist come and go, but Prince was an Icon both in music and style. Prince as an artist could get away with things from a style standpoint that other artist wouldn’t even dare. Prince always played to his own tune in music and in style.
The musical genius was unquestionable. His music spoke to women and their emotions like a spirit inheriting their souls. His songs were classics from funky to freaky to passionate to sexy. All of his songs were great to the ear and the soul.
When Prince first came out, some folks had no idea that this artist who was so different, who was funky like James Brown, but a genius like Beethoven, different like Jimmy Hendrix with a touch of social passion like the Beatles, would go on to become one of music’s greatest legends.
His music, his style, he himself will be missed. Rest in Peace my brother, the artist and poet in you will live forever through your music.
People have a hard time really coming to terms that the fans pick their hits. Even with all the doubters (in New York & Atlanta), PANDA has found its way to #1. The fans as I've said over and over, buy what they want, not what they're told. At the end of the day the SuperBowl in HipHop is itunes and then Billboard. PANDA has conquered both. "PANDA, PANDA, PANDA..."
You might can hit a bigger spread with online promotions (that can also mean you miss bigger, it does go both ways). A million views on Worldstar can also mean you had a million misses if you don't sell anything on itunes. Cd's give you a better hand to hand engagement situation if your are picking engaged fans to promote to (The virus just doesn't spread as well through folks earbuds. Phone listenership is very interpersonal and you sacrifies picking up fans in the overheard situation... ).
Oh yeah the doubters were in the threads, the blogs, the forums and all over but once again the fans have had the final say. Desiigner’s PANDA is the #1 Rap record in the country (no hype, no bluff, real numbers…) with over 20,000 (count em) downloads in one day(Panda, Panda, Panda…). I love it.
I love when the fans deliver a hit. There were many out there who looked sideways when Hot 97 in New York went on this record but it looks like Ebro and the crew had the ear that mattered. Congrates to this young man who has achieved probably way more at this point than he could have ever imagined a mixtape ago. NUMBER ONE RAP RECORD IN THE COUNTRY…. (Panda, Panda, Panda…).
