The Devil and stars have a funny enabling sort of relationship. I mean it’s almost like he escorts stars to the top in fame to torment them during their fall back to normal life (I mean it’s crazy). Whether it’s Richard Pryor or a Whitney Houston or a Michael Jackson, fame gives stars demons that really put in work.
Well last night Flava Flav's demons put in their work and Flav was arrested around 12:40 last night in Las Vegas. Upon the stop the charges just kept piling on
possession of marijuana
driving with suspended license (his 16th time)
Now that’s just crazy (even for Flav). Man we all hope Flav comes out on top on this one and we sincerely hope homie once again gets some help for his substance abuse issues (I mean those demons put in overtime on Flav last night). We wish dude the best and hope that he handles his business (before them folks from the state of Nevada handle it for him). I’m Reggie Redd
Dizzle Red is an artist, he’s a father, friend, entrepreneur and up and coming new rapper. Dizzle Red is on a mission, and that mission is to “bring a lil twerk in our lives...#FRFR (“we all need a Lil Twerk in our lives).
Dizzle Red is a cool driven dude (with a mouth on him #lsmh). A kind of dude that has the ability to gather the soldiers for the good cause. “If I’m gonna do it, Imma go 100” say Dizzle. “I mean why play at something you really wanna do? Man I can sell anything so selling me is easy. I got a family to feed and a dream to accomplish, what I gotta hit the brakes for…”
Dizzle Red is family with D-Roc from the Yin Yang Twins. By watching the Yin Yang twins career ups and downs, he feels he’s now prepared to not only get in the game but he feels he ready to take from the game (hiphop) all there is to take from the game.
Man doing this blog every day, you wouldn’t believe how many video I have to watch (#FRFR). So when I see an indie that does it right, man I look up. Trisha Paytas is a youtube semi celeb. She’s done countless vids over the last 8 years. Now she has a video entitled “FAT CHICKS” and the views (and PR interest) is making this video a trending video. Now the FAT CHICKS concept ain’t nothing new, Meghan Trainor “ALL ABOUT THAT BASE” blew up last year as tribute to chicks with “JUNK IN THE TRUNK”. What makes Trisha’s video work is that it’s an indie doing it right. That she’s really a cute girl (she not really all that fat, in some communities she’s considered fine. This is well rounded chick #LSMH). I know she’s probably really tired of folks saying “She pretty for a plus size…” #WTF. Here’s why the video works.
She took a topic that draws REAL ATTENTION
. she located a group online that would be interested #FRFR
She made the video interesting and creatively funny
And she connected with her target market (Fat Chicks and those who like FAT CHICKS) in a big way
That’s how you do it folks (#FRFR). Here’s the stats
TRACK- 3($$$) this track gets it done (it sorta grows on ya….). For some reason it reminds me of the “My P*ssy be Yankin track……
PERFORMANCE- 3($$$) actually Trisha did a great job as a rapper (being that she’s really a youtube performer……..
SONG- 3($$$) this song works as a novelty (but it really works). What will be really interesting is whether this buzz translates into itune sales……
CONTENT- 4($$$$) Trisha hit dead on with this content. Her target market will really take note of this cut even if it is a parody. That’s why it works…..
CREATIVITY- 5($$$$) the creativity on this video was top notch. Even with it seeming to be a Meghan Trainor parody skit, it works…….
Dizzle Red comes on to the scene with his new single TWERK IT. Also on the track with Red is D-Roc (from the Yin Yang Twins). This cut is a solid intro for this new artist as he celebrates the art of "twerkin" (#lsmh). We also provided you with a couple of Lil Boosie's new cuts (SHOW EM and GRADE A, both strong streetand club cuts). So ride out to this new GetAtMe3PcSnack ft Dizzle Red &Lil Boosie. #GetAtMe
Ok on this mix we keep it street by playing 6 of the hottest cuts in the streets. We start off with TWayne NASTY FREESTYLE (great legs on this record. Over 9,000 downloads on itunes daily. #SolidHit). Next we have The Migos ONE TIME (this one also has great legs #SolidHit). Then we hear from new rapper G Eazy with I MIGHT, (G Eazy is a young rapper on the move, might be the next EMINEM). ILoveMakennon follows up his smash hit TUESDAY with this catchy cut WHIP IT (man this thang stays in your head when you hear it). Then we have a growing new artist that was brought to me by the ILoveMyPlug dj’s Big Ben with his cut IN BEN WE TRUST (this Big Ben record is straight. He sounds (or his cadence sounds) a lot like Jeezy. This cut works (#StripClubBound). Then we wrap it up with the street hit Chedda Da Connect FLICK OF DA WRIST (this record is huge in the clubs and the street #FRFR. #RadioDontSleep). That’s this edition of the GetAtMe InDaMixxx (Street Edition). #GetAtMe
What is it about twerkin that hold our attention? Is it the girl (ummm yeah…)? Is it the ass in motion (ummm yeah again……)? I mean isn’t there something kinda poetic in seeing a phat azz on a fine girl that just makes your day better (it does for me #LSMH). Dizzle Red is a new artist who is celebrating “Twerking” and its lovely performers.
Dizzle Red is a GET IT DONE KIND OF DUDE #FRFR (“Redd I mean this shit and I putting this thing in motion,” was the comments from Dizzle Red). From being in the Atl music scene for many years (affiliated with D-Rock and the Yin Yang Twins). Dizzle is now on a mission to advance the art of TWERKIN to the next level (“I’m on a mission Redd and folks either need to FOLLOW or GET OUT THE WAY #FRFR said Dizzle Red).
Be on the lookout for the new DIZZLE RED music TWERK IT on BIG SHOT NATION #BigShotNation
Man when I first heard “BILLIE JEAN” off the Thriller album, I knew that intro break was special. I was a real Quincy Jones production groupie. At One time Quincy had The Brother Johnson as the Rhythm section (#RIPLouisJohnson who died yesterday. One of the best RNB Bassist of our time. The bass solo on “STOMP” is a classic bass riff.) John Robinson was the drummer from RUFUS (who was a walking drum machine, what a cadence) SEAWIND was the horns, Greg Phillagaines on the Keys and 84 TOMTOM was on the strings (yes kids there was a time when it took a whole band to make a record #ThankGodForLinerNotes #LSMH). Patty Austin handled background vocals, I mean this was a helluva crew. So when Michael Jackson came out with Thriller with this assortment of “HITMEN” in his production camp, well it was sort of a gimme.
“BILLIE JEAN’ was a classic record about “love and responsibility”, but as Michael so profoundly stated, “the kid is not my son…….” Michael we believed you and the dj’s of the world thanked you for bringing us this record that changed not only dance and music history but also DJ HISTORY. That opening break on ‘BILLIE JEAN” was the breakbeat that took the breakbeat into pop culture (MOTOWN 50th Anniversary, moonwalk ect…)
I was really feeling bridging this record through a mix time wormhole (#LSMH, the trekkie is coming out in me). I combined an EDM feel with a southern stripclub chant ( #PYPB ) and top it off with Michael as the dressing (#UmmmUmmmGood). I hope you enjoy this mix as much as I enjoyed making it.
Ok on this mix we keep it street by playing 6 of the hottest cuts in the streets. We start off with TWayne NASTY FREESTYLE (great legs on this record. Over 9,000 downloads on itunes daily. #SolidHit). Next we have The Migos ONE TIME (this one al
Ok on this mix (man the hits keep coming in every day) we spotlight Tink and this new single MILLION (great new song 122BPM that puts you in the mind of Aaliyah’s ONE IN A MILLION, but Timbaland and Tink gave this version its own flavor). Next we have Trey Songz GOOD GIRLS VS BAD GIRLS (man this thing just set right in this mix #GreatSong Trey). The 3rd cut is Elijah Blake’s I JUST WANNA (great song with time it could really get some legs). That’s this edition of the GetAtMe3PcSnack ft Tink MILLION.
Man you can’t be mad when it’s done right. Music videos are supposed to be mini trailers like movie clips and boy did Taylor Swift’s people get this one right #FRFR. This is what a video is supposed to be and it looks like Ms Swift is looking to upgrade to the big screen (#HelloHollyWood can’t you just see her in Perfect Pitch 3. Perfect Pitch 2 is out now)
This video is loaded with babe power. Not just eye candy but some real female hero shit (why can’t we do this sort of thing in hiphop? Where’s Nicki, Rihanna or Bey in this video? This would have been a great look for Ciara). I mean come on Selena Gomez, Jessica Alba, Mariska Hargitay (Law and Order), Ellie Goulding, Cindy Crawford (#WOW) and a whole host of power chicks made this video roster (This was a great collab concept). This video was such a great play for Kendrick Lamar because this also might lead him to a big screen role (#MovingOnUp).
It seems as thoughTaylor used every big movie clip theme there was to use. I mean we saw pieces of Kill Bill, X-Men, Die Hard, Mad Max, Tron, Terminator and glimpses of a lot of hot flicks (#VeryHotConcept). Here’s the stats:
TRACK- 5($$$$$) great track, sounded like Rihanna should have been on it with Taylor (everyone else was #LSMH)
PERFORMANCE- 5($$$$$) man this was pulled off so well I was looking for the movie release date…….
SONG- 5($$$$$) Kendrick added great balance to this song and it set the tone like a great movie soundtrack……..
CONTENT- 5($$$$$) come on you see I’m in love with this video like a great movie. That said #ThumbsUp on the content…….
CREATIVITY- 5($$$$$) usually music folks mess up treatments this big. This reminded me of the Brian Barber Outkast videos that were short films. Hope to see more of this.
Well it’s happened. I read my first source of hate on the new Taylor Swift ft Kendrick Lamar cut BAD BLOOD (Yall straight tripping). So hip hop artist aren’t supposed to collab with top pop stars? Is that what you’re saying? Is hiphop so selfish that they only want their stars in the hiphop box (Come on son……..).
When I first got a look at Taylor Swift’s BAD BLOOD ft Kendrick Lamar, I knew that the “HIPPOP” hate crew would be in full force ( “no Kendrick don’t go be on a record with one of the world’s top selling artist that sold over 45,000 downloads in one day. Stay here with us and hate…..”). Man some of yall in hiphop really need to grow up (cause I knew if some of these haterz got that call from Taylor Swift they would be busting the door down getting to the studio).
I thought that people came in this business to make money and grow in the worldwide arena of entertainment (you know there are more pivots to Urban America than “trap houses”, blunts and B*tches). Urban hiphop America has many facets to our story and when we have to opportunity to be a worldwide artist, we should take it and support those who do.
These same haterz didn’t bitch about Juicy J with Miley & Katy Perry (as a matter of fact they were first in line to perpetuate the rumor that Miley got pregnant by Juicy J #Really. You can’t stop bigotry if you’re first in line when it’s your turn to be a bigot #LifeTruth).
BAD BLOOD is a great song and Kendrick brought real hip hop flair to it (read the GetAtMe VidView). Let’s support all of our artist who dare to grow. I’m Reggie Redd and I communicate.
Last night me and Talib dealt with making your fans your connect. This music business has become an arena for middlemen foolishness (everyone’s a professional consultant for a fee #SMH). In hip hop we now do everything but sell music. Well last night on blogtalkradio.com/getatmenow we brought it back to who really mattered, the fans and their appreciation for your product.
Man there’s nothing wrong with paying for valued advise but if that advise doesn’t lead to a sell on itunes well then at some point you’re gonna have to admit that maybe something's not working. Are certain online marketers and digital music distributors causing problems online to charge you for the solution (“hey come with me and all your problems will go away” that I created” for 33% of revenue online…..”).
At the end of the day your fans are the end game and the ultimate deciders of your fate as an artist. At this point I see some artist really selling on itunes with limited Urban airplay in radio (T Wayne Nasty Freestyle is selling over 10,000 downloads a day for the last month and now it’s funny to hear certain dj’s claimed they helped on this record that didn’t give this record a second listen. The fans delivered this record by buying it (courtesy of Vine and twitter). The fans heard it, liked it and bought it period. That’s the process.
In business you have to have traffic to make money, Sometimes promotions people want to make businesses feel like they are the end all to your business making money. At the end of the day your fans are the end all. You have to position yourself where the fish are biting and not just base your strategy on getting the fish to the pond #FRFR. Tonight we discuss this and offer direction on how to make your fans the connect. Tonight's music is Tink (Million), TreySongz (GoodGirls vs Bad Girls) and Elijah Blake (IjustWanna). Call in tonight at 11PM (347) 826-7743
