Wow for 3 weeks (count em), Nicki Minaj’s “TruffleButter” stays at #1. Nicki has had an amazing run with this “TruffleButter” cut. What’s crazy is that she went up in our rankings this week from a 42.2 rank to 43.2 rank, due to strong radio play and strong iTunes sales. If anyone tells you real sales don’t matter, “smack em”. At the end of the day the music industry is about selling something and for right now ITunes is that gauge. Nicki came in at #2 on the Urban Airplay charts and at #22 on itunes. So if you wanna get to the top, get your online army moving (man Rihanna hit over 41,000 downloads in one day with “BitchBetterhaveMyMoney”. It can be done. Here’s the chart:
Nicki stays at #1 with “TruffleButter” (man this cut has had massive impact and shows no sign of slowing up). Neyo’s “SheKnows” stayed at #2. Nicki won’t move out of the way (#LSMH) and they need stronger online sales. #71 is not bad but to hit #1 yon need to be in the top 50 at least. At #3 is Fetty Wap’s “TrapQueen”. This cut is for real and it really looks like a potential #1(very strong iTune sales at #7). The Weeknd continues to be one of online’s greatest sales stories and this week they hit #4 with “EarnedIt” (driven by the “50 Shades of Grey” movie soundtrack and strong fan base). At #5 Rae Sremmurd continues their assault on the charts (with Nicki help on this one. That’s #2 for Nicki this week) “ThrowSumMo”. They jumped up on the sales chart from #72 to #47, but the burn from radio play peaked before the sales did (gotta be careful of this in dealing with radio) and now the number are boosted by their sales mostly. At #6 Usher drops one but radio and sales keeps him in the game (Usher’s sales on “IDon’tMind” have been consistent for a year #FRFR). At #7 is Chris Browns “Ayo” This record should be on its way to #1 but the licensing groups have been doing the youtube strikes and takedowns on soundcloud (I swear it’s like a competitive label hires these folks to stall records) and they may have stalled this record’s momentum (you can’t make fans by pissing them off on youtube and these sites. Dj’s and fans will just move on to the next record #FRFR. I don’t why licensing groups feel like they can win this battle against fans at the expense of the artist’s brand momentum). Big Sean’s “IDFWU” hits #8. At #9 is Mark Ronson’s “UpTownFunk” (this is a great song and that it’s doing this well with urban radio is amazing because it’s clearly a pop record) and at #10 is Ciara’s “IBet” (it’ crept right into #10 with sales and radio #YouDoNeedBoth).
“SlowMotion” Trey Songz stays on deck. It’s at #52 in sales but not enough urban radio has developed yet. Rihanna’s “BitchBetterhaveMyMoney” had a massive day one in sales on iTunes (over 41,000 downloads in one day). This song is on its way. Rich Homie Quan “Flex” is that bubbling record in the street but it has to get way more sales than at #94 on the iTunes HipHop charts. They have got to get Quan’s sales up in the top 200 on iTunes singles.
Rae Sremmurd "ThrowSumMo" is in the GetAtMe TopTen at #5 and at #47 in the Itunes Top 100 singles. SBDaG "P*$$y is bubbling in these streets and strip clubs in the south. Also be on the look out for SBDag's next battle rap contest. #ItsAMovement
Man if a mix or new cut gets a .250 L to E (listen to engagement) ratio man that's something to celebrate but .985 is crazy after almost 2 weeks. (504plays/485 engagements). Thanks to all the Dj support on hulkshare.com #NoHype #NoBoost #JustGoodMusic
Nicki Minaj is on top (#FRFR). A top song on the online sales charts (TruffleButter), 4 songs that she’s on in the TopTen Urban radio, at the top of the GetAtMe TopTen 3 weeks in a row ( that means she’s at the top in radio play, sales and street juice). How in the world did she quietly unthrone Iggy Azalea? Well it all started with “Anaconda” (she really should thank SirMixalot with the assist of the viral video with that chick from the Seattle Symphony doing the “BabyGotBack” #LSMH).
Nicki did something most artists seem to have a problem with doing, she took control. She started doing features with everyone. From Bobby Shmruda to Rae Sremmund to anyone that looked like they were next on deck (that’s the important part #NextOnDeck). Nicki was even on a smash that you never heard with Future call “RockStar” (ain’t no telling what happened with that. How can you lose with a “Careless Whisper” sample? If George Michaels people didn’t clear the sample, well that was dumb.
Nicki clearly is now in control of Nicki. She dodged the Lil Wayne/ Birdman media battle. She endured the Safaree Breakup. She stayed out of major beefs with artist online (I think she learned her lesson from the Mariah Carey dust up with American Idol, because beef opponents have fans also and friends). She just got in the studio and got on great songs (why does that seem to be so hard for some artist to do). If you are lucky enough to get a song that’s poppin, shoot make sure that you keep em coming #FRFR.
More artist need to get in control like Nicki. Nicki seems to understand that that 15 minutes of fame has a expiration date and she seems to have full intentions of squeezing all the juice she can out of her 15 minutes. Well done Nicki, Well done.
Kiyana has gotten over 200 downloads on hulkshare.com. With over 1300 plays to 200 downloads, that a 0.151 L to E ratio (listen to engagement ratio. Most mixtape and club dj's want 0.250 L to E) #YaNeedToKnow #DjAlert #LetsGo .

One thing about Rae Sremmund, they keep em comimg. 1st “NoFlexZone”, next “NoType”, their current hit “ThrowSumMo” and now they have a new one coming “Come GetHer’ (if anyone had doubts as to MIkeWillMadeIt’s consistency. well all they have to do is to look at Tupelo Ms favorite sons Rae Dremmund (“where’s Tupelo? Right there next to Onepelo…..” Richard Pryor).
Rae Sremmurd continues the attack with their sing song rhyme style laced with hashtag topics from online (and yes that works). Here’s the stats:

Rihanna blew em out today. 41,000 downloads later she sits at the top of the iTunes sing sales charts. In one day she blasted on the scene with this new cut. They teased the fans with the single all day on youtube but at the end of the day massive sales on Itunes told the story.
Rihanna usually makes a splash when she kicks in and on this they flat out hit the gas. Following up on the success of “FourFiveSeconds’ (which is still selling in the top 10), Rihanna once again let everyone know, “I’m the truth when it comes to selling these song….” Rihanna’s fans base is the real deal. Check out Rihanna new cut “BitchBetterHaveMyMoney” on iTunes now and make sure you check out the GetAtMeMiniMixxx on hulkshare.com http://www.hulkshare.com/reginaldshipman/getatmeminimixxx-num6-ft-rihanna-kcamp
Ok this new Rihanna is gonna be that spring bounce beat. This cut clearly was made for the spring and the summer (#SpringBreak Can’t you just see a whole lot of spring breakers with shots in their hand #LSMH). Rihanna voice still controls the track (this is a BeatMakanixxx remix so I took the best 8 bars I liked and made a quick minimixxx. All the breaks are banging and this made it real easy to put this one in the mix.
K Camp has a new one “LilBit” and it also creeps up on you. This is another one that’s gonna move the clubs and the dancefloors. I mean he tells the fans exactly what to do at the party. Here’s the Stats:
Rihanna “Bitch Better Have My Money”
Track- 4(****) this track ride (even with only just small pieces for the remix)…..
Performance- 3(***) with just the little bit we got on the 8 bar breaks you can still hear that Rihanna’s gonna own this cut…..
Content-3(***) since this is a remix (with 8 bar breaks) we only have a preview of the cut, but the idea still comes thru “BitchBetterHaveMyMoney”……
Hook- 5(*****) come on this hook is a classic (from AMG) so there is no way this doesn’t kick in with Rihanna fans…….
Hitfactor- 5(*****) It’s Rihanna. Her fans are waiting on this one like it’s a meal for the hungry…..
Total- 20 pts (grade A-) this cut would have easily been an A with the content and performance score being higher. That this was just a remix we did as the BeartMakanixxx to let you hear this song’s mix and club potential……
K Camp “Lil Bit”
Track- 4(****) K Camp has another creeper (his tracks creep into hits. All of a sudden #ItsAHit #LSMH)
Performance-4(****) K Camp’s laid back style really rides with his style of party music (he quietly leads them to the dance floor like a pied piper)
Content- 4(****) basic party cut (but it works for real)……
Hook- 5(*****) this hook is hypnotic (it takes them to the dance floor)
HitFactor- 3(***) K Camp’s songs creeps into a hit (over months) but when it hit its real. This one seems like it gonna follow suit. The key hear will be online sales.
Total- 20 pts (grade A-) like I said K Camp’s songs creep into hits but when they catch, its fire. The online sales and Dj online engagement will determine this cuts future.
On this GetAtMe3PcSnack we spotlight YungDre, Neyo and T-Pain. Yung Dre is a new artist and is on his way to making moves. Here’s the 3PcSnackView (scored 1-5, 5 being the highest)
Yung Dre “HowManyTimes”
Track- 3(***) nice traditional mellow track (for the real lovers out there…..)
Performance- 3(***) Dre brings home the question with his performance “How many times have you been in love?” (A real question for his generation #ItsAMoveMent…….)
Content- 4(****) this song sends out the question of “How many times” have you really been in love. In this generation of “Hoes ain’t Loyal”, the Hoe are everyone’s” and “Bitches be Like”, it’s nice to hear a love song #DontYouThink……….
Hook- 4(****) This Hook is a throwback to the days of the great ballad. This hook stands out and resonates through the song. It asks the question. “How Many Times” have you been in love?
Hitfactor 2.6(**.6) Dre has an uphill battle being an indie but live performances can give this song and Yung Dre Legs.
Total 16.6 B- grade Yung Dre live performances will lay the groundwork for legs for this new artist. #LetsGo
Track-4(****) this is a great track. A strong melodic arrangement with dominant bass presence….
Performance- 5(*****) Neyo, nothing else need to be said .Easy and effortless #GreatPerformance
Content- 4(****) this is a better story than most would hear (but you gotta listen)…….
Hook- 5(*****) this hook rings out like a trumpet part. (great vocal arrangement on the hook)…..

Hook- 4(****) this hook was great. It should’ve been heard…….
HitFactor- 2.7(**) Somehow this great classic missed (this should have been a huge record. If this would have been Usher Oooo Weeee)…..
Total- 20.7 grade A- There’s no way this song should’ve missed. Truly a great cut.
I don't know why not. The music business is not like brain surgery. You make an MP3, you upload it on itunes and consumers buy or don't buy, period ( the only people who try to make the music business complex are entertainment lawyer "justifying their billing hours", Licensing groups, who use complexity to steal or maintain power and justify their salaries and their positions or the music business thieves who need complexity to steal from the artist and the investors (if you're not a music business thief this doesn't apply to you so do not think I'm generalizing). Empire (in TV style) addresses many of these issues (of course if you're a person who need a more complex view of the music and hiphop industry, then why are you watching a FOX show in the first place). Empire is good fun but the unfortunate reality is that a lot of the issues that are presented on the show are very real issues in Urban/HipHop Music. Usually HipHop businesses are funded from a street element (these usually are the only real options for these entrepreneurs (who in they right mind would invest in music if it wasn't their passion or unless they were "Hard Money"). There are jealousies and petty power struggles in Urban and HipHop music. There are certain elements of homophobia (even with parents in the urban community) that are really there. To a certain degree Empire is way more true to life than a show like Scandal (which is total real life fiction). No this show isn't society changing (like an All In The Family or Mary Tyler Moore), but it is a very true dramatization of today's music industry (probably way truer than American idol). So if you're smart and just looking for a quick peek into the madness of the music business for entertainment, this show is the one for you. Grab some popcorn and enjoy.
