Man there's nothing like a great mix for me (it's the dj in me...) and that why i love to do mixes. For me I really can't tell what a songs gonna do until I hear it in the mix (it's gotta be organic...) Mixes are different than singles because a mixes success is based on the blend of other songs. Some songs are alright until they get in the mix, then the break placement makes them hot. Here's our top 5 mixes on mix djs for Oct,
The GetAtMe NowThatsAMixxx 001 ft the Beyonce SuperBowl mix stays at #1 with over 800 plays (all organic #NoBoost). Hit The link and check us out on mixdj.com

Look I know I’m way early out there on this new Tory Lanez NO SCRUBS (TLC), but folks I just like this one. Because I am so early it affected its score but this cut still came out a B- (so that mean this cut can do it its thing anyway…). On this GetAtMe EchoMixxx we feature Tory Lanez remake of the TLC classic NO SCRUBS. This is by far the best answer record I’ve heard to this cut. Why, because Tory kept this cut true to itself and he was still able to give the song his definition and style. Here’s the stats:
Tory Lanez NO SCRUBS (TLC)- score 17.9 out of 30 pts grade B-… Okay like I said, I’m real early on this cut so it hasn’t had the opportunity to get real sales or radio attention (I just liked it so much I couldn’t wait…). This is a great track and performance. We did a Dj Neek Just4U mix with a fatter drum kick but this cut is the real…#TryinToHollaAtMe
TheWeekNd STARBOY score 22.8pts and a grade of B+ This cut is already a hit (the sales numbers have been crazy. As a matter of fact the retail was way ahead of online, the clubs and radio (a good problem…) The WeekNd fans were lined up like an iphone or Jordans launch to get The WeekNds new music (like I said a good problem…) #TheWeekndIsBack
Young M.a. OOOUUU score 22.2pts grade B This cut also has great legs as it inches its way to the top. Its staying in the itunes top 100 really helped this song score… #TheseHatersOnMyBodyShakeEmOff
Remy Ma HANDS DOWN score 18.4 grade B This cut should be the follow up to ALL THE WAY UP (why aint Fat Joe on this cut?) but without Fat Joe it seems like it may miss the window. This is a great cut but Remy’s choice of Rick Ross and Yo Gotti (although they did great work on the cut...) as features instead of riding The Fat Joe and Remy wave, may have been a calculated mistake, and that a shame to because this is a great song…#IfItsNotBrokeWhyChangeIt
That’s this GetAtMeEchoMixxx ft Tory Lanez NO SCRUB(TLC). Remember there’s nothing wrong with the record business that a good record can’t cure…”
Marq Dean's new single RED CUP is now on spotify. Now is the time for all in THE RED CUP NATION to rise up and let them folks know "what's in your cup...?' Check out Marq Dean on spotify now.. #OneStepCloserToTheDream
Look I know I’m way early on this cut (and I hate being too early on a song without proven sales…) but when I heard this cut I just had to put my djs and readers up on it. Tory Lanez has another one with this chopped version of T.L.C.’s SCRUBS (TLC). This is the 1st time I’ve heard a dude do an answer record to this song that was hot (really he delivered on this cut…)
In an industry that often (if not always…) celebrates who hot and who’s not, Tory reminds a young lady of the way he was treated before fame and that he never really forgot those feelings. In a nutshell “I’m giving you the same business you gave me, just only in a different way…”
This chopped version is hot for mixtapes and will be rocking in the stripclubs (so now we have SCRUBS 2016…#LSMH). This one’s definitely going in rotation… #InTheMix #DjAlert
Okay here’s this week’s GetAtMe Urban Airplay Scorecard. Kanye West ‘FATHER STRETCH MY HANDS” was the highest in urban radio spin increases this week (so why isn’t it selling on iTunes…?). Here’s the stats:
Kanye West FATHER STRETCH MY HAND- is num 1 with 484+ spin increases. What’s crazy is all this radio play hasn’t generated any iTunes sales at all (his cut FADE is at num 49…) Why is that?... hmmmm
Young M.a OOOuuu- (GetAtMe Pick) moving up the chart is Young M.a. OOOuuu (we told ya…) this cut had 384+ spin increases and she continues to sell (at num 47 on itunes…)
MaryJBlige THICK OF IT- Urban radio is really just happy to support a new Mary J cut (it’s at num 334 on iTunes so we’ll see…) Mary had 334+ spin increases so we’ll see the results after the honeymoon…
The WeekNd STARBOY- (GetAtMe Pick) This cut blasted onto the sales chart (currently at num 4 on itunes…) and now urban radio is responding to this fan trending cut. With 308+ spin increases this week this cut continues to rise…
Rae Sremmurd BLACK BEATLES- this one also is creeping up the chart (num 39 on itunes…). With 305+ spin increases, the SREMM continues on their mission…
That’s this week’s GetAtMe Urban Airplay Report for 10/21/2016. Remember “there’s nothing wrong with the record business that a good record can’t cure…”
It's been an interesting week for Universal Music. The company was outed for their secret war on various hiphop blogs, including some of the sites of their own artists, such as 50 Cent, whose personal site was declared a "pirate
There’s this crazy new thing I’m hearing from artist (and managers…), that the sales don’t matter (“just tell them to give me the bread, this sh*ts hot…#IfIHadADollaWhen). This by far is the craziest thing for somepne to say and it signals to music industry predators that you are a meal for the taking (and they are always hungry…) Remember the it THE MUSIC BUSINESS (with the emphasis on the word business…) and the main objective in any business is sales. Comments like these are the cornerstones to artist not understanding their relationship with the fans and the label. Sales is the ultimate leverage position (not I got a hot song, I don’t know where that idea came from…) and if your sales are at the top of the pile, then you as an artist wind up on top of the food chain. Its that simple… Remember “there nothing wrong with the record business that a good record cant cure…” #ItsAboutTheMusic #GetAtMe
Man every day I get hit with “man can you check out my music…?” I don’t mind, it comes with the territory. What’s happening of late although is that I get hit by a younger performer and usually the product is very good. That’s the case of Mariel. This 14 year old performer is making moves #frfr and based on her twitter movement, she’s gonna do big things.
I checked out her video MAKE IT EPIC (on youtube) and this production and track is very polished (these folks ain’t playing with this one here…#lsmh). The video is an inspiring video for all young ladies to make their life EPIC (not a bad call to arms…). There’s nothing like empowering a militia of 14 year old female power buying middle adapters in this music thing ( now that’s a power move #lsmh again #frfr).
Why is it that the Zay Hilfigerrs (Juju on the Beat) and the Mariel’s are so on top of it at so young of an age? Because that want it for real and their moves project their ambitions. Go check out Mariel’s MAKE IT EPIC on youtube. This is a #GetAtMeNextOnDeck
Remember “there nothing wrong with the record business that a good record can’t cure…”
Budden did right by checking dude. The key to the music business (or any business for that matter) is to make money, not to have over paid professionals. If dude can do 30,000 without a PR pro then folks, for real that's a win. Artist want all this help from industry professional STANS but then wanna cry when they are on Behind The Music about they broke, because they (and I emphasize... THEY) chose RENT TO OWN FAME as a path to wealth. These artist want to look rich, not be rich, there is a difference. man if you need to be staffed up to get your folks to spend $1.29 on your single on itunes, that means you don't have a demand for your product (i didn't say your product wasn't good, I said there wasn't a demand. Big difference...) If you are fortunate enough to have a indie product that sells (Zay HilFigerr Juju On The Beat 45,000 in a week and then signed to Atlantic, Tech 9, Sage The Gemini, and a list of others...) then the indie system works for you. Other artist want to cut in the music industry VIP line and that cost (it's not for free...) You gotta do the math that works for you and your situation. Remember the industry doesn't make a hard product that goes into stores anymore (cd's records ect...) They sell RENT TO OWN exposure on a licensing agreements called downloads and streams, so how are they gonna justify all these expenses to keep their lights on, they don't make nothing that's tangible anymore. They literally sell fame to create revenue opportunities. That's called an advertising, marketing or PR agency. Not a record company. its's really only a record company if they make records (hard product) with selling the fame (just a thought #ItsABusiness...
Okay on this GetAtMe NewMuzikMixxx we focused on the HipHouse/Dance genre. Marq Dean is committed to bringing HipHouse/Dance (#HHD) to forefront of the music genres. What is HipHouseDance but a hybrid of HipHop and Dance music (essentially real party and dj music…) Here’s what’s on this mix:
Marq Dean RED CUP- This is a straight party cut (what’s in your cup???) that celebrates everyone’s favorite cup…
Charlie Puth WE DON’T TALK ANYMORE- Then we blended in a quick mashup of the Charlie Puth hit single mashed up with LOVE ME HARDER… I know right)
Arguello COME BACK- This diving beat is real dance music and I mean this thing grinds (dancefloorMover0. The vocal ride nicely
Lafa Taylor TURN MY MUSIC UP- This cut really just drives the dancefloor also (I love this dance music…)
ALOK BYOB- I don’t have to say anything to core dance folks because ALOK is right now that dance favorite. Everything ALOK does is hot… (some real Burning Man music…)
Issac Christopher SOMEDAY- This cut is more of the traditional dance feel (real New York). There’s nothing like a great dance cut that sets the mood on the dancefloor…
Alex Adair MAKE ME FEEL BETTER- This cut just come in out the mix like a great dance cut (essential in great dance music). It really builds into a hot dance track…
Marq Dean RED CUP (HandsUpMixxx)- We take it out with the MarqDean RED CUP HandsUp remix (this really sets the tone for a party mix…)
If you like dance music then this is the mix for you. Remember “There’s nothing wrong with the record business that a good record can’t cure…”
Miche le is a staple in the Compton/RuthlessRecords/DrDre/Deathrow records legacy (a hugh hiphop/RNB artist with huge hits like NICETY…) and could have very well been the lynchpin that really got Tupac killed (which she really didn’t explore in this new biopic…). Michel le was really there. There are those who will dismiss her as the chick that was the source of much confusion from Ruthless Records, Eazy E, Dr Dre and Suge Knight. Well now she’s telling her side of the story. Her talent was undeniable. With a childlike spoken voice (which to some was weird…) that caught folks off guard, her voice spoke volumes when she would sing due to the mature and full vocal tone she possessed as performer. All the extras in her story at times overshadowed an artist that really was an amazing talent. Her relationships with Dr Dre and Suge (who many felt was the catalyst for their split) and her male friendships in the NWA/Ruthless/Compton/Deathrow era at times overshadowed the legacy of her talent. Point being, the movie is cool but don’t let it not be known how talented this singer was and the contribution she brought to that music as a performer. She is the truth #ItsAboutTheMusic #GetAtMe
You know here at GetAtMe we love bringing you new music and mixes. But we were getting so much good new indie product that we decided to start a new series with product that we considered not in the industry cycle (just great new music..). We wanted to spotlight artist like DaddyO, Sydney Renae, DVSN and Tink (we also will be doing a dance mix featuring Marq Dean who we are really feeling…). So here’s the music
Daddy O TRILL- This cut TRILL was made for the street folks that still want that smooth groove to ride to. Daddy O brings us the real on that “Bonnie & Clyde Love”… (this one rides in the stripclubs, mixtapes & hookah bars…
PartyNextDoor NOT NICE- It seems that PartyNextDoor is ready to step out of Drake’s shadow (currently he has a cut COME SEE ME out). This cut NOT NICE sounds a lot like the ONE DANCE beat but it works on its own… (InTheMix…)
Sydney Renae WHY YOU GONNA ACT LIKE THAT- This young lady (with strong online fame) is on her way to a deal. This cut lets us know that she has that real commercial tone as she handle this remake… (now that’s a cover…)
Tink DON’T TELL NOBODY- This young lady right here is really a case of an artist who really may have should’ve stayed an indie (I can’t believe the label can’t sell this artist. She has all the tools. Tink easily could be the next Rihanna. She does her thing (as always) on this cut with Jeremih…(you really gotta check out Tink #FRFR
Germaine FREAKY- this cut here is a flat out hit. This cut by Germaine came out of nowhere. The mixtape djs really need this one in the mix…
Bryson Tiller RIGHT MY WRONGS- Bryson Tiller delivers another strong cut that was built for the mixtapes. Mixtape djs gotta have this cut…
Miguel/PartyNextDoor THE GIRL WITH THE TATTOO (in Toronto)- This cut is a real Miguel/PND fan favorite and it really represents that Toronto sound (I don’tknow how Drake didn’t get this one…#lsmh
Travis Scott 3 WAY- Travis Scott is really building some momentum and this cut will add fire to that flame. 3 WAY creeps up on you (as a dj) but it really mixes well… #DjAlert
DVSN GODSPEED- This is Drake’s (quietly as its keep) up and coming up supergroup. DVSN has great tracks and this soulful cut GODSPEED definitely definitely set the tone for their fans (this by far is one of the greatest music to listen to groups right now, #NoJoke …)
Sydney Renae TELL HER- We have another cut from Sydney Renae, why? Because this cut is a hit (flat out). This one is definitely a diamond in the rough. This young lady is on her way…
Ray Dubb Jr B*TCH YOU LIED TO ME- I love this because cut this is like a young folks version of their love song. This twitter freestyle can very well be a release. It also makes the mixtape rotation. This is a very young record and it could break... (Be on the lookout…)
Daddy O takes us out with TRILL (of the Panamera Muzik mixtape, get it on spinrilla now...
That’s new GetAtMe New MuZik Mixxx (the mix for the new folks on the block..). We’ll be dropping one of these every month so we can give some new and up and coming artist some shine. Remember “there’s nothing wrong with the record business that a good record can’t cure…”
GetAtMe InDaMiixxx Halloween Mixtacular ft Michael Jackson Thriller, Marq Dean and The Eagles. This Halloween nix was a blend of the Michael jackson Halloween classic THRILLER (with the Vincent Price monologue...). We also blend in The Eagles cult classic HOTEL CALIFORNIA ("Its a lovely place...) and we also have Marq Dean's PARANOIA ("What the hell is wrong with me...?). Theat this new GetAtMe MixTacular... DJ MIXES HIP HOP/RnB Hip Hop
Dj Neek brings you this new cut by Major WHY I LOVE YOU. This great ballad (a real Luther type cut) is really that next big love song(this one is going to be played at weddings everywhere...). Dj Neek with The BeatMakanixxx have brought to you this dance version #4DaDjNU. Enjoy and #GetAtMe
The last time we jumped on a cut like this was Desiigner’s PANDA, everyone thought we were crazy… They also thought Tinashe 2 On, I HeartMemphis HitTheQuan, Silentoe’s WatchMeWhipIt Nae Nae, D-Low BetUCantDoItLikeMe, and currently Young M.A. OOOuuu were not the truth and all of these songs proved them wrong. Why because they all were selling way ahead of the industry STANS and major labels badly handicapped and promoted cuts. One thing I’ve learned is that the fans have the finals say with them credit/debit cards on iTunes. Its’ been proven over and over again.
Zay Hilfigerr’s JUJU ON THE BEAT is a cut that will follow in those other cut’s tradition as it has already sold (exhale…) over 25,000 downloads in a week. The fans have spoken and this one’s a hit….
