Here’s the short version! My name is Santillian. I was born in Philadelphia and raised in South Jersey. After graduating from high school I wasted 3 semesters at a local community college before I moved to North Carolina to start my college career over at Winston-Salem State University. While at WSSU, I obtained an internship at 102 JAMZ, the local Hip Hop station, and from there….It Was On !!!
Once in the building, I just felt like I was supposed to be there and I did everything possible to ensure that I would be around for some time to come. By the end of the summer, I was a part-timer. By the next summer, I was the Assistant Promotions Director and a Part-timer. The following Spring, I was offered the position of Night Jock and graciously accepted. I spent the next two years, holding down nights and developing a show that was entertaining and in touch with the streets as well. Then just when it seemed like things where settling nicely, I was asked to “fill in” for the morning show that was on air at that time. Little did I know, I would never go back to Nights. Since that first day that I filled in, I have currently been holding down mornings at JAMZ for going on 6 years!
I love the job and everything that comes with it. I frequently visit and host community events for local schools and organizations and have founded and coach a minority youth soccer team as well. I have also established my own non-profit organization called “The Fifth Foot Foundation”. Our mission for high school graduates is to award scholarships to those headed to college. For the younger kids we help them to get involved in youth sports and other positive activities that will promote positivity in their lives.
