The Five Most Inspirational Speeches Of Our Time That Will Be Sure To Motivate You

The Five Most Inspirational Speeches Of Our Time That Will Be Sure To Motivate You | Get The Info | Scoop.it

Inspiration is a stimulating feeling that we seek to motivate us, to continue pressing forward through hardships and to find meaning amidst chaos. What inspires us is sometimes found in the rarest of forms. It is sometimes in plain sight. It is often stumbled upon without intention, and it is sometimes graciously handed to us in the form of wise words, spoken by experienced and influential minds.

For those who are feeling aimlessly lost in the journey to find themselves, those who are feeling stuck under the darkest clouds waiting for a ray of sunshine and those who simply need a dose of encouragement, heed these words of wisdom.

From some of the most gifted minds to the greatest influencers of our generation; from currently eminent leaders to those illustrious leaders who made a difference and left us too soon, here are some of the most inspirational speeches of our time in chronological order.

As I indicated in my post "What Inspires You?", I think inspirational and motivational speeches are wonderful for getting you moving again when you are stuck, giving you a kick in the butt when you are feeling sorry for yourself, or just reminding you of how great you really are. Here are five amazing speeches I will be adding to my Inspiration Library.

What really makes people happy and content ~ Donald Miller

What really makes people happy and content ~ Donald Miller | Get The Info | Scoop.it

What really makes people happy and content? I found that it has nothing to do with fame or money and everything to do with the health of our relationships and our interest in our own work.

Serving people rather than trying to impress them is the foundation. So I created a life plan for myself, then shared it with others and found that it helped them heal and recover from a life of pursuing success. Now I consider it my life’s work and, interestingly enough, it fills my life with a deep sense of meaning.

For decades, bosses have assumed that the best way to motivate workers is by promising financial gain and threatening financial loss. With one hand they dangle a carrot of more pay while brandishing in the other, the stick of "get to work or you're fired."

However, according to a recent article in the New York Times, research in organizational psychology strongly suggests that people are more innovative and more successful when motivated by a desire to help other people.

The Learning Factor's curator insight, August 29, 2013 6:38 PM

For most people, creating goals is easy! The execution and application is the struggle. As Diana Scharf Hunt says, “Goals are just dreams with a deadline!” Everyone has dreams, but successful people turn them into goals that they accomplish. In order to ensure you reach the finish line with your goals achieved, here are 10 steps to help you move from dreamer to doer.

So what are you aiming for? If your answer is nothing, then you probably won’t like what you get out of this life. Instead of simply drifting along reacting to what life brings you, take proactive steps to go out and create the future you want. While we can’t control everything that happens to us, we can control ourselves by following goals that bring out our passion for life.

During my teenage years and even a few years ago during my early twenties, a question I could never answer was 'What is it you would like to do when you're older?

Via Miklos Szilagyi

Miklos Szilagyi's curator insight, April 13, 2013 6:30 AM

Every self-development program starts with this: "You find out what you're passionate about..." (and then "and in what you are the best" but let's keep ourselves to the first one...). Lots of times we know that but we think that it's not something anybody would pay for... Read this... because it's exactly about this... I'm not saying that it works "without you" but perhaps  put some more bricks into that "wall"...

Miklos Szilagyi's curator insight, April 13, 2013 6:36 AM
