Continents were generated more than 2.5 billion years ago. Back then the Earth was three times hotter, volcanic activity was more active, and life was very limited. Researchers say that erupted lava reached continental crust-like composition about 10 million years ago.

Our continents was once known as Pangea and a supercontinent. Our continents broke apart 200 million years ago. This happened because of tectonic plates. Tectonic plates are continent size slabs of rock on Earth's surface. Scientist found out that plates can change their motion.

My opinion about Pangea is that if it wasn't real how do you explain how our continents fit together like a puzzle piece if you put them together. Also fossils are found in other places that are not their native habitat.
