Beth Jung's curator insight, February 16, 2014 8:14 AM

This article is about the child soldiers in Africa. The children are forced to be in the army. Before they are taken, Africans kill their family or make them kill their own families. Africans force the children to drug so that they don't feel pain, and also teach them how to kill people with no fear. This article adds on to my knowledge to my last week's article about how economy plays a role on child labor and how serious the problem is in Africa today. Child soldier is another type of child labor. This also tell me that there are a lot of conflicts in Africa and the children are involved in those conflicts. I feel very thankful for the good environment that I'm living in. I am very glad that I'm not one of those unfortunate children in Africa. I do not know how I can be a help to this problem except spreading awareness.

Siam Poulsen (Lucas)'s curator insight, March 9, 2014 1:26 AM

This article is about a rebel group raiding two villages even though the government has recently made peace offerings with the group.  The rebels are demanding the resignation of President Francois Bazize.  This is happening in real life,  the reels had attacked two towns in the Central African republic despite the fact that the government has made peace offerings.  I can relate to what I'm presently studying because I'm studying child soldiers and this helps me to understand how real this is.  The rebels are not stopping and will continue using child soldiers.  This article helps me to better understand Africa by telling me that the government are trying to solve these problems but the rebel groups are not cooperating.  I think that the rebels not cooperating with the peace offerings is a sign that the President should just resign instead of let the rebels keep on killing and raiding innocent villages and killing people.
