Almost 30,000 people were effected by this genocide either by being moved or killed. This genocide only lasted for 3 years, but had a big effect and was hard to stop.

The United Nations declared some areas ''safe zones''. These areas were specifically targeted, and resulted in the largest massacre in Europe since WW II. It's interesting how they told ordinary citiznes to go to these places with no protection, and expected them to be alright.

It's disturbing how many beliefs, conflicts, etc have turned into genocides or are expected to.

Beginning on April 6, 1994, Hutus began slaughtering the Tutsis in the African country of Rwanda. As the brutal killings continued, the world stood idly by and just watched the slaughter.

Part of the article tells how big of a role media played in this genocide. I'm sure the advancement of technology helped this genocide be more organized and succesful.
