Petraeus in profile: the man who could be president

Petraeus in profile: the man who could be president | General Dwight D Eisenhower | Scoop.it
Former commander of allied forces in Iraq is seen by some as future Republican candidate for White House
Keyronta Betts's insight:
Petraeus is such a great general and war hero, he is a prospect for the candidate Republican Presidency campaign. He is now the former director of the CIA. A lot of people compare him to Eisenhower because of how he was a good war time general that had the potential to move up and be President of the United States, but he declined any accusations of being interested to being President.

Keyronta Betts's insight:

The general topic is getting the Allies ready for the war they’ll have to wage against the Axis for the years to come.

Eisenhower said three important things, he sais that the eyes of the world are upon the allies, that the allies will bring about the destruction of the German War Machine, and the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed people of Europe needs to stop.

This document was created to motivate the forces of the Allies.

Keyronta Betts's insight:

Dwight D Eisenhower is talking about the invasion of Normandy or D-Day. He is talking about how everything is going fairly well, he talks about the weather and how many planes were lost in the bombing.

The three important things that the author said to me was only 30 out of 1250 planes were lost at the beginning of D-Day, the defenses on the beach were caught off guard by the allies, and the weather was fairly favorable.  The voices of the ground forces are not represented in this document, so we could not see it in a first person point of view of how the invasion went and how bad it was. The reasons that the voices of ground soldiers were not represented is because communication was not established with the ground soldiers, and it was too soon to make any reports.

Keyronta Betts's insight:

This website told about General Eisenhower’s early life, and summarized most of his military career. The website did not have a lot of information, but it did have some good information, and it was pretty straight forward, so it was quite easy to get the information I needed off this website. I also learned some additional information about President Eisenhower, like his involvement in the Cold War, and the Korean War.

How General David Petraeus revolutionized the way America fights its wars and became a living army legend.
Keyronta Betts's insight:
General David Petraeus is known for revolutionizing war. He is a very great general, like Eisenhower and he is said to be the best of the 21st century. He is compared to Eisenhower a lot by the public. They both graduated from West Point, they both served in the Army. He's a war hero with great commanding skills and has publicity. Even though the war in the middle east isn't as bad as the Second World War. General Petraeus has a very impressive military record. In 2003 General Petraeus led the Invasion of Iraq, that was a victory that gave the U.S. control over a section of North Iraq that was very important. General Petraeus also served as an Ambassador of the Iraq War for the United States. By his peers General Petraeus was seen as a hero and a very respectable general much like Eisenhower.

The general topic is war. The soldiers are ready for battle and General Eisenhower is giving orders.

I’m guessing that the audience was for the people of America to see, because I once saw this in a textbook. It’s a very good picture, it shows General Eisenhower commanding the soldiers, this would be good for the public to see.

This website was basically a very short paraphrased timeline of General Eisenhower’s involvement in WWII. This website only had about a pararagraph of information and they just listed the things that General Eisenhower had done, mainly titles he had earned throughout the war.
