Abigail Harrison's curator insight, April 22, 2014 10:04 AM

I have decided to Scoop this article because it explains and shows female exploitation and how Dima's boss tried to take advantage of her. Dima worked in the cotton factory and her boss started sexually harassing her. She told him to stop, and he wouldn't. The next day she went to work and he said, "I will pay you extra if you entertain  me." She ran out of the factory and never came back. This article is similar to the one in the exert Half The Sky. Abbas lived in a family who was tight on money. She decide to go to work and it wasn't the job that Abbas wanted. They took Abbas and 70 other girls to a brothel and made Abbas and some other girls watch 70 girls get rapped, beaten, stabbed in the stomach until death. Abbas was never paid for the work and finally found a way out. These two situations is dealing with female exploitation.

Jonathan Kaus's curator insight, April 22, 2014 11:09 AM

I selected this article because it is about a major part of gender inequality because men think they can take advantage of women. This relate back to HTS because the young girls were told they were going to get a job, but instead they were locked in and forced to work at a brothel. They would be drugged and sometimes killed if they did not work.
