(WARNING: Graphic photos and video) One year after vicious attack, "Miami Cannibal" victim is "living happily" | Gen's Rea: Crime & Punishment | Scoop.it
MIAMI -- The homeless victim who lost his eyesight and most of his face in a bizarre attack last Memorial Day weekend is playing the guitar and following the Miami Heat as he continues to recover.
Genevieve Valle's insight:

It's hard to believe it's been a year since homeless victim Ronald Poppo, now 66, was savagely attacked by Rudy Eugene on the MacArthur Causeway. Eugene, 31, is believed to have been high on bath salts, a synthetic drug similar to methamphetamine, at the time of the attack. (Toxicology results identified marijuana only, but authorities speculate that the bath salts metabolized quickly.) A surveillance camera near the causeway captured the 18-minute attack, which showed a naked Eugene brutally beating Poppo unconscious and chewing off Poppo's face. Authorities were unable to restrain Eugene and he was fatally shot by police. Poppo survived the attack with 80% of his face (including his nose and eyes) having been chewed off by Eugene. Poppo underwent extensive facial reconstruction at Jackson Memorial and received an outpouring of financial support from the public. Currently, he is off the streets and is "living happily" at a long-term care facility. Poppo receives occupational therapy as he adjusts to his new circumstances. In a recent video message (see link), Poppo thanks his supporters for their generous contributions to his treatment fund which now contains $100,000.00 for his ongoing care. If Poppo can find a reason to smile, I think we all can!

EXCLUSIVE: NFL legend Dan Marino had a love child with CBS employee in 2005

EXCLUSIVE: NFL legend Dan Marino had a love child with CBS employee in 2005 | Gen's Rea: Crime & Punishment | Scoop.it
Dan Marino is famous for his touchdowns — but the Hall of Famer’s scoring off the field is downright shocking. The married gridiron great — a pregame analyst for CBS since 2003 who...
Genevieve Valle's insight:

Oh Danny boy! Pulling an Arnold and tarnishing his "good guy" persona. Hopefully, he's being truthful about his wife being okay with everything because they are such a great family. Not surprisingly, this scandal has cost Marino MILLIONS to cover up. The good news is he didn't try to dodge his support payments, BUT why am I so filled with doubt at the thought that his wife just tolerated him sleeping with a CBS employee and fathering a love child that he's paid millions to cover up? Maybe it's news to her as well? I don't think we've seen the end of this scandal... I hope Dan has a rock solid prenup or this one's going to hurt!

Maybe it will bring some positive attention to the Dolphins franchise? Wishful thinking.

BREAKING: Shots Reportedly Fired At Rapper

BREAKING: Shots Reportedly Fired At Rapper | Gen's Rea: Crime & Punishment | Scoop.it
Rapper Rick Ross may have been the target of a shooting in Fort Lauderdale early Monday morning.
Genevieve Valle's insight:

So the latest news out of the Sunshine State includes an attempted hit on the life of Florida rapper Rick Ross (born William Leonard Roberts II). Over a dozen shell casings were recovered outside the Floridian Restaurant in Fort Lauderdale, the aftermath of a drive-by attempt on the rapper's life. Despite driving his Rolls Royce into a nearby apartment building, Ross and a female passenger escaped unscathed.

Rumors are swirling that this shooting comes as retaliation from the Gangster Disciples (GD), a gang that started in South-side Chicago. The feud began when Ross used GD imagery (a six-pointed Star of David) in his promotional materials and name-dropped one of the gang's most infamous founders Larry Hoover (on the song "B.M.F.") In the past, Ross remained stoic in the face of videotaped threats from GD. Now, it appears they weren't just talking. My question is why does this drama have to move into Broward County?? C'mon Rozay!!
