SCOOPS --  I began using Scoop when I was defining myself a LITE FEET DANCER.  There was no single source of info about Lite Feet dance, a NYC Born Battle dance phenom and YouTube Sensation.  I created LITE FEET SCOOP TO reference for my own resume but also to provide anyone interested a link to the multitude of YOUTUBE Channels, Sound Cloud and personal sites dedicated to this unique art form and the talented dancers who participate.

Self explanatory visual on the benefits of gaming as a means of learning. Outlined are the rewards, mastery, engagement, intensity, exercise, readiness, and competitiveness. These types of graphics need to be displayed in the classroom. There's always parents who are unsure of how gaming qualifies as teaching. Can't they just sit their kid in front of an iPad all day at home? Well, in the appropriate setting, with the right direction and guidance, games are certainly good for learning. Some people just don't know that from experience yet.

When using the SimAULA platform, the teacher in training controls an avatar that interacts with student avatars (controlled automatically by SimAULA) in a virtual classroom, where lessons are taught and a series of situations liable to arise in a face-to-face environment are played out. By way of a specific example, the first version of SimAULA features a simulated biology class in which the teacher avatar has to help student avatars fulfil various learning goals.

My kids (now teens/young adults) have been playing this almost from the beginning and creating amazing worlds.  I have come home to questions like, "Hey mom I am trying to script a trigger to make a portal open when a character steps on this block - can you look at my code?"  The creativity this game inspires is truly stagering.  The fact that it can keep this attention deficit generation coming back for more is a testiment to the simple but insideous genus behind the game!

The two major motivational elements are health points, which can be used up and coins which can be earned by doing daily tasks, following good habits and doing jobs from your 'Todos' list. These coins can then used to buy rewards.
