HTML5 will provide a huge leap forward for the development of websites. It can eliminate the need for standalone apps and additional software. It is capable of displaying lightning fast videos and geolocation services which both previously needed applications or software to operate in browsers. Even though the language is not 100% completed yet, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Safari are already compatible with some HTML5 elements, which says a lot for the future of HTML5.

Josh Newman's curator insight, March 13, 2013 8:26 AM

As more and more people use their mobile devices to surf the web on the go every day, the need for minimalist designs increase.

Derek Phillips's curator insight, March 28, 2014 6:08 AM

Seeing as a year has passed since this article was created, much of this has already been implemented by many notable websites. As mobile web-browsing was, and still can be, rather difficult, a need of minimalistic websites emerged. Through the use of grid based design, typography, white-space with appropriate colour, and an evident focal point of attention, a website that is easy to use while still containing the required information can be created. This trend that began in recent times has set the standard for website usability. Hence making it likely to be utilised in coming years for new websites, and those being updated.
