In a nutshell, IoT will do exactly what technology does everywhere — it supplants low-skill jobs with high-skill jobs. Eventually, the Internet of Things will lead to widespread replacement of simple and repetitive jobs in areas such as manufacturing, administration, quality control and planning. But more importantly, IoT will lead to the creation of new jobs that will help organizations champion and pioneer not only their personal success with IoT, but the success of the business as well.

5 technologies to avoid in the classroom-and what to use instead - eCampus News

5 technologies to avoid in the classroom-and what to use instead - eCampus News | Future of Cloud Computing, IoT and Software Market | Scoop.it

The most popular article on eCampus News is a surprising one to the editors: “6 apps that block social media distractions.” This story, which seemed  a bit counter-intuitive for us to write (being a tech-cheerleading publication in nature), has held the top spot by a massive margin for almost three years now; which had the editors considering the question, “Are there technologies that should simply be avoided in the college classroom?”

Movie Clip of One Technology Exasperation:

Of course, the editors then had to ponder what would make a technology easier to avoid than try to implement, and came up with a list of broad technologies and technology trends that either A) caused, rather than eased, more problems and concerns in the classroom, and/or B) were not evolved enough to make an actual difference in teaching or learning.

And, not wanting to simply talk technology trash without offering some useful information, the editors then came up with the technology options that may be better suited for the intended classroom task.

See any technologies you believe should be avoided that didn’t make the list? Be sure to leave your comments in the section below.

"Most people already know how Kodak was way too slow to recognise the camera market’s rapid switch to digital. The fatal blow to Kodak was the rapid wholesale destruction of its consumables business – film. Losing ground on camera sales certainly hastened the end but it was the collapse of film and processing that did it in."

Blockchains Are Bigger than Bitcoin

Blockchains, those distributed, networked, verified and shared transactions, are going to eclipse Bitcoin and blow up how we do business online. Once you know what I know and we all know everything about everyone, a point we are headed toward anyway, imagine what predictive analytics and the Internet of Things can do for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

This Curagami post knocks down common blockchain objections such as no central authority and not redeemable as "absurd" given the major almost-depression-like pain we suffered in 2008. After such a calamity can anyone claim centralized control is a good thing.

Despite our efforts to decentralize "too big to fail" banks, they've gotten bigger. Here's an idea. Let's stop doing the same thing and expecting a different result. Blockchains promise to disrupt banks, healthcare and just every everything as we share on Curagami: http://www.curagami.com/the-blockchain-disruption/

Block Chain Disruption
A "block chain" is a distributed digital transaction ledger. Bitcoin is one example of a "block chain", but it doesn't require much creativity to imagine others.

Everything from how we fund startups to personal identity could be impacted by blockchains. This post shares several current examples of how everyone from car companies to education is using blockchains already.

Imagine what will happen when the next generation of entrepreneurs really start thinking about what block chains can do?

Computers, tablets, and phones are all going to start using the same connector — here's why ? | Future of Cloud Computing, IoT and Software Market | Scoop.it
In the past, attaching accessories to your phone, table, and especially your computer required a series of different cables. Monitors require a VGA, DVI, DisplayPort, or HDMI cable. Printers require a USB-A to USB-B cable. External hard drives require either a Mini USB or USB 3.0 Micro type B cable. Most Android phones require a standard MicroUSB cable, and, finally, Apple products require Lightning cables. It's a mess, but one we have been dealing with for decades. Thankfully, those days could be behind us thanks to a new connector: USB-C.
