If you’re one of those makers who is actively looking around the house for problems that can be fixed with your 3D printer, you will have probably noticed that Ikea furniture is particularly easy to combine with 3D printed components. In fact, you can also find quite a few making hacks online specifically intended for Ikea furniture, such as this 3D printed stool hack. It seems like the Swedish flat pack giant has finally picked up on this concept, as they are launching a series of pilot programs in Belgium and France where customers can bring broken furniture to Ikea repair stations for recycling or fixing with the help of a 3D printer.

The State of Internet of Things in 6 Visuals

The State of Internet of Things in 6 Visuals | Future of Cloud Computing and IoT | Scoop.it

The IoT, or Internet of Things, is burgeoning. While the better known internet is made up of humans communicating with one another, the IoT all but eliminates the human element. Essentially, once it’s all set up, the machines communicate with one another. An IoT in your home, in your city, or at your workplace is actually extremely useful.

In practice, an IoT can automate a lot of tasks and processes. It can make life easier, safer, and much more convenient. There’s currently a whole lot of capital moving around the IoT tech sector, over 800 companies are working on IoT devices and platforms, and new IoT components come on the market on a regular basis

The infographic included here gives you a good visual summary of what’s happening. We made it to show you what types of technology IoT companies are focusing on, how the money is flowing, where the innovation is taking place, and more....

Internet of Things (IoT) | Internet Society | Future of Cloud Computing and IoT | Scoop.it

Promising to transform the ways we live, work, and play, the Internet of Things (IoT) offers impressive benefits but presents significant challenges.

Today billions of devices are connected to the Internet in what we call the "Internet of Things" or "IoT".  These devices are already transforming our lives, but as they do, there are also serious challenges that must be addressed to maximize the potential benefits.

The document begins by exploring four areas:

the challenge with defining exactly what the "IoT" is;an overview of the technologies that enable the IoT;the connectivity models of IoT devices;the transformational potential of the IoT.

The largest portion of the paper presents five primary challenge areas:

security;privacy;interoperability and standards;legal, regulatory, and rights; andemerging economies and development.

Love Uganda Safaris's curator insight, January 29, 5:52 AM

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Gorilla Tracking

This Gorilla tracking safari starts by you making a booking with Love Uganda safaris and from the date of arrival, our guide will meet you at the airport in entebbe where he will will pick and take you to the hotel in kampala. The traffic jam, cool breeze and noise will welcome you to your Uganda safaris. Later in the morning, you will drive towards the south western parts of uganda to go catch the incredible mountain gorilla in bwindi

Your gorilla tracking safari  is sure to be the highlight of your Uganda safari trip. Waking up early in the morning because  you need to be at the Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger station by 07.45am. You will then be allocated guides before heading into the forest. Here you will be offered a walking stick – take it as very useful in the slippery conditions. Also available at the ranger stations are porters. For around $20 they will pull and push you up the mountainside.  This can be particularly helpful during rainy season when doing your Gorilla tracking. You have paid $600 to see the gorilla the $20 goes to a local man living near the forest. Gorilla tracking permits are available from the Uganda Wildlife Authority.  While the permit may seem steep, 20% of the receipts go to communities living around the park while the rest is required to finance the Uganda Wildlife Authority’s efforts to provide adequate protection of the gorilla families in this area of Uganda.  This is one of the primary reasons the gorillas have survived and continued to remain in this area of the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park hence giving you also a chance to come on a uganda gorilla safari for Gorilla tracking

Habituation of a gorilla group takes a minimum of two years, with daily visits to allow the gorilla group to tolerate human presence. It is only when the gorillas are completely comfortable with human presence that tourists are allowed to share the daily hour of contact with them. Only eight people are able to track each habituated group. The walk to find the gorillas may be as short as two hours, but it will generally take 2-4 hours to find them as their territory can range up to 40km.  Initial trackers go in to the forest first while you are being briefed; they locate the night nest of the gorillas from the day before. They then track the gorilla to their new position. Once the family of gorillas is found, the trackers make radio contact with your guide and will direct him to your meeting place. The park rangers and guides will clear the way and assist you through the forest. You will need good fitness to make this walk and the going can be slippery and tough at times.  Once the gorilla group is located you will spend an hour with them as they feed, rest and play.

Sitting with the mountain gorilla is one of the most amazing experience while on the uganda wildlife safari you will ever have. A dominant male silverback can weigh over 200 kg and is the largest living primate. He will control your meeting as well as deciding when his group will eat, sleep and move on. His females care for their young with affection and playfulness but also with discipline. Gorillas are very curious, and are capable of making over 25 different vocalizations, including chuckling and purring. Communication also includes posturing, chest beating and if all else fails – the charge!  The privilege of spending an hour with this family group is an experience that will never leave you. After your hour is up, you wind your way slowly out of the forest and back to the camp to swap stories about your amazing experience.

Gorilla tracking is one of the beautiful and spectacular experiences one can ever get while on the  Uganda safari because it is so adventurous and fun and also it gives one a chance to experiences other attractions of the forest like the chimps, birds and the vegetation all this can be made possible if you book your uganda safari with Love Uganda Safaris which is the only company in uganda which will make you fall in love with the stranger country because they offer the best services to their clients which you can not find them elsewhere from the other tour operator
