12 Applications of 3D Printing [Part 2/2] | Future of 3D printing | Scoop.it

With the increasing performance of 3D printers in accurately printing smaller structures, electronics companies could not have been happier. A cutting edge technology known as “two photon lithography” uses a laser beam and a set of mirrors to harden a resin at very specific points in order to create a structure as small as a grain of sand.

A huge leap forward - products such as this will enable average consumers to join in the 3D printing revolution, designers, artists, sculptors etc will be able to create 3D designs of their work without needing 3D computer modelling skills. They can then print them rather than have to re-create each new copy by hand. This will also open up other opportunities i.e. for museums who can 'archive' works forever in case of possible destruction from fire or the artworks being stolen
