From crowdfunded concerts to augmented reality, 2013 looks exciting

Considering a Drip.fm subscription. Up to that moment is the only subscription service that I am willing to pay for. And wav.pool is the responsible for that. The labels under the Wav.pool umbrella, release their music almost exclusively on vinyl that sells out rapidly. I guess that early access and exclusivity is what cuts it for me.

Once a trend during the late seventies and the eighties, a guilty pleasure all through the nineties and part of the noughties, now a genre that everyday gets more and more respect. Some of the key recordings are much coveted for collectors who spend hundreds of dollars/euros/whatever to own obscure and not so obscure records. We're talking Italo Disco, and here's a documentary about it, big shoulderpads included

...or how to use music psychology to increase sales. Music is everywhere and it's all about the sales not about the music. Sad. Interesting topic though

Poor Metallica! Probably they'll need therapy after this bad news

I have only one question regarding that: Why? Why sales have increased thanks to streaming. Why norwegians choose streaming? why in other countries is not a popular option? The problem with statistics and numbers is that there is never an answer. Without the "why"it's impossible to move further.

Someone on twitter asked why many netlabels are closing doors these days, I decided to answer, explaining what has happened over the last ten years that makes distributing digital only music and for free is not exceptional anymore. The article is in spanish.

I ask myself this question all the time, and answers come easy, for hardcore music fans, gamification (or competition) is always there. Get all the albums of a certain band/label, see if you can beat your own score of the amount of times you can see a certain band/dj/artist live etc. So, gamification shouldn't be difficult, if it's specially aimed at music nerds. The app music industry never has the music nerd in mind, if the service is reeeeally good, then it shouldn't be difficult for users to want to pay for it. 

I  wonder what is the economy behind Boiler Room, how are they funded, how they deal with copyright. Having experience myself streaming from festivals and other events, it surprises me that, suddendly everything looks so easy.

With 3D printers and machines such as the Reprap, it is already possible to "dowload" objects from the internet. It is possible to print vinyl records. Pirate Bay has "physibles" ready to download, really handy if you are the lucky owner of one of this kinda expensive machines.

The 1st of January is Public Domain Day. These are the authors (and their works) that will be part of the Public Domain (in some countries at least) in 2013. Every 1st of January we are a bit more (culturally) richer.
