iPad in Education: 7 New Schools Open in Holland with iPads as ‘Virtual School’ | Future Learning | Scoop.it

"Today seven new ‘Steve Jobs Schools’ have opened in the Netherlands. These schools have a radical new approach, with iPads right at the center of it. The schools are located in the Dutch cities of Sneek, Breda, Almere, Emmen, Heenvliet and Amsterdam. They’ll be following the principles of a program called O4NT – Onderwijs voor een nieuwe tijd, or ‘Education for a New Era’ in English."

The key is to engender a love of learning – and enable access to all.

Stephen Dale's curator insight, August 22, 2013 7:05 AM

I'm into the second week of my second MOOC with Coursera, studying Social Psychology (or in other words....understanding people and behaviours). I would advocate this style of learning for anyone who hasn't tried it yet - it's a great way to expand your knowledge into topics that might otherwise be difficult (or expensive) to access. This method of learning is particularly suited to continuos professional development. I'm less convinced that MOOCs would or could replace full or part-time degree courses.
