I think this oversimplifies the issue, as if the current state of the problem was only due to technology. We already have the knowhow to live abundantly on this planet, harvest energy sustainability, celebrate community, use permaculture... An exponential growth of technology would still face the same political, socia and economic barriers that have stopped so much good development. I'm optimistic about the future, but because of the exponential growth of ethics, not just technology. The people having mobiles phones are in the billion but we still have sorted out the social impacts of mining for coltan and how that's funding war and as a weapon, the mass rape of women.
Paulo's comment, March 10, 2012 4:42 AM
Talk is cheap buddy. Everyone yakking on cellphones doesnt mean a thing if we dont ACT, and unfortunately there are way too many facebook armchair activists who never leave their desks.
Abundance comes from DOING something - planting trees, etc. But being able to communicate first sure helps. Interesting looking book, but not the whole answer.

Imagine all the People | Advancing a Global Citizens Movement | Futurable Planet: Answers from a Shifted Paradigm. | Scoop.it

How to change the world?  Dominant institutions have proved too timorous or too venal for meeting the environmental and social challenges of our time. Instead, an adequate response requires us to imagine the awakening of a new social actor: a coordinated global citizens movement (GCM) struggling on all fronts toward a just and sustainable planetary civilization.

2012: Moving Toward Evolution By Choice Not Chance | Futurable Planet: Answers from a Shifted Paradigm. | Scoop.it

Evolution raises consciousness and freedom through more complex order. According to Teilhard de Chardin, the great philosopher, the “noosphere,” the mind sphere or the thinking layer of Earth, with all our Internet and global intelligence, is about “to get its collective eyes.” We are about to connect center with center and heart with heart.

A Call for Evolutionary Organization

"In organizational life we often sense potential futures that are different from present reality, and would be a step forward in some way. But then what? .."

# Brian Robertson talks briefly (8 min only :-)) about some aspects of his rather enlightened organizational governance model, Holacracy. It is an operating system that brings out the best of people at all levels and empowers an organization to respond rapidly and reliably to increasing complexity and insicurity in the market place; providing at the same time a rigorous structure that alows for alignment, interdependency and self-organization. Brilliant stuff. AC

Rebecca Costa suggests there are five common supermemes that we should understand because of their limiting effects upon our capacity to reason. These include: irrational opposition, counterfeit correlation, personalization of blame, silo thinking, and extreme economics. Time magazine recently suggested that people like Rebecca Costa might be able to solve the world’s biggest problems .

Emerging Concepts and Forms of Integral Leadership: Embodying a Radically New Development Paradigm | Futurable Planet: Answers from a Shifted Paradigm. | Scoop.it

# Good argument for new paradigm concepts and a vision of  "awareness-based, love-infused, presence-centered, evolutionary leadership”  (but beyond green meme concepts :-))  drawing on Steiner, Campbell, Kegan, Torbert, Wilber, etc. The article gives a solid overview over qualities, concepts and practices that are emerging and gives a taste on what a new paradigm of leadership and development "in relationship to nature, community and meaning"  could actually look like embodied, and, most importantly, scaled up. Integral Options Cafe: Bonnitta Roy - AQAL 2210: A Tentative Cartology of the Future; Or How do We Get from AQAL to A-perspectival? #itc2010 | Futurable Planet: Answers from a Shifted Paradigm. | Scoop.it

When Wilber writes that AQAL is a map of the prison, the integral community should immediately understand that there is no prison except for the map. A-perspectivity is the unconditioned situation of living/being without the map. If we can learn to operate from that unconditioned place, then we can create new maps through which new worlds might arise with greater degrees of freedom and open-up our choice field. If we operate from that unconditioned place we will avoid the mistakes of misplaced concreteness that weld ideas into the bars and barriers of our self-imposed prisons. If we operate from that unconditioned place we will have transmuted the prisons of our selves into the playgrounds of spirit. We will, in other words, enter into the ever-present process of enacting our future.
