Awareness Design: The Most Powerful Field for Our Future?

Awareness Design: The Most Powerful Field for Our Future? | Futurable Planet: Answers from a Shifted Paradigm. | Scoop.it

great blog by Venessa Miemis of emergentbydesign:

...More and more people are walking to the edge of their mental models and belief systems, preparing to take the leap into a more expanded view. They “get” very deeply that the ‘system is broken,’ and despite how they may have lived their lives in the ‘old world,’ they see that something’s gotta give and are willing to participate in the next thing.

But how?

ABUNDANCE - The future will be better than you think!

Ruth Andrade's comment, March 10, 2012 3:05 AM
I think this oversimplifies the issue, as if the current state of the problem was only due to technology. We already have the knowhow to live abundantly on this planet, harvest energy sustainability, celebrate community, use permaculture... An exponential growth of technology would still face the same political, socia and economic barriers that have stopped so much good development. I'm optimistic about the future, but because of the exponential growth of ethics, not just technology. The people having mobiles phones are in the billion but we still have sorted out the social impacts of mining for coltan and how that's funding war and as a weapon, the mass rape of women.
Paulo's comment, March 10, 2012 4:42 AM
Talk is cheap buddy. Everyone yakking on cellphones doesnt mean a thing if we dont ACT, and unfortunately there are way too many facebook armchair activists who never leave their desks.
Abundance comes from DOING something - planting trees, etc. But being able to communicate first sure helps. Interesting looking book, but not the whole answer.

Start with Universe | The Buckminster Fuller Institute | Futurable Planet: Answers from a Shifted Paradigm. | Scoop.it

"I didn't set out to design a house that hung from a pole, or to manufacture a new type of automobile, invent a new system of map projection, develop geodesic domes, or Energetic-Synergetic geometry. I started with the Universe – as an organization of energy systems of which all our experiences and possible experiences are only local instances. I could have ended up with a pair of flying slippers.”

Today, modern technologies enable us to manipulate our surroundings in extraordinary ways. Yet they also isolate us, encouraging us to take the life-sustaining systems of our home planet for granted as endlessly exploitable resources and economic externalities. As specialized sciences increasingly seek to reduce existence to its component parts, the universe has seemingly been diminished to little more than physical properties, isolated interactions, and mathematical laws.

Emerging Concepts and Forms of Integral Leadership: Embodying a Radically New Development Paradigm

Emerging Concepts and Forms of Integral Leadership: Embodying a Radically New Development Paradigm | Futurable Planet: Answers from a Shifted Paradigm. | Scoop.it

# Good argument for new paradigm concepts and a vision of  "awareness-based, love-infused, presence-centered, evolutionary leadership”  (but beyond green meme concepts :-))  drawing on Steiner, Campbell, Kegan, Torbert, Wilber, etc. The article gives a solid overview over qualities, concepts and practices that are emerging and gives a taste on what a new paradigm of leadership and development "in relationship to nature, community and meaning"  could actually look like embodied, and, most importantly, scaled up. The Planetary and the Possible - Jean Houston

The Planetary and the Possible - Jean Houston | Futurable Planet: Answers from a Shifted Paradigm. | Scoop.it
The ‘possible human’ must emerge if we are to survive our planetary odyssey and come home to the world waiting in the sanctuary of the soul.

What the world so desperately needs at this time is patterns for peaceful, passionately creative and effective societies, and with those patterns, peaceful, passionately creative and effective people—in other words, the possible human in the possible society. The growth of consciousness is the paramount key to the necessary transition to a world that works for everyone, most particularly for the planet.

CoCreatr: science of complex systems

CoCreatr: science of complex systems | Futurable Planet: Answers from a Shifted Paradigm. | Scoop.it

The science of complex systems is transforming science and its role in society. Building on the traditional focus on the parts of systems, the new approach integrates the networks of relationships within and between systems. These relationships are responsible for the collective "emergent" behaviors we see in all physical, biological, socio-economic and technological systems.

Buckminster Fuller: Emergence by emergency the best way to make positive change | Futurable Planet: Answers from a Shifted Paradigm. | Scoop.it
My ideas have undergone a process of emergence by emergency. When they are needed badly enough, they are accepted.” Buckminster Fuller

Even today, the major
Anne Caspari's insight:

...seems easy: "So, if you’re seeking to be a Trimtab and make the most difference that you can with the least amount of effort, consider using “emergence by emergency” to further your efforts. All you need to do is find a solution to a problem you know will arise and wait until people come to you. You do, however, need to make your solution visible, as hiding in a cave with it will probably not result in success."

I have been in a cave for awhile, here in the vortex of the midwest.... and it seems that I need support in igniting that vision into action. I want to be a part of a team.
