Dr. Becker offer some recommendations for dog owners interested in affordable titer testing for core canine diseases instead of re-vaccinations.
Something to think about...
Our old vet insisted on vaccinations yearly. When Semba was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 13, the vet at the ASPCA hospital said she advised against vaccinating animals over the age of 10, especially those with compromised health. Since having two tumors removed three years ago (no chemo or radiation just home cooked organic food, no more vaccinations and rare antibiotic use), Semba is rarely at the vet and is thriving at nearly 16 years of age. Scientific? Hardly. But, in my mind, I see a correlation.
When it comes to dog food, you get what you pay for. Cheaper brands of dog food are often made with less-than-ideal ingredients, and plenty of preservatives and fillers. Many dogs will be able to stomach a budget dog food brand, but if your dog is showing signs of excess flatulence, try changing its food to a premium, grain-free brand. But make sure you gradually move him over to the new food. Too abrupt a transition is harsh on a dog’s stomach and could make matters worse.
Fermented dairy foods such as yogurt and kefir are health supportive for pooches. This article includes avoiding soy beans. I agree. Unless organic, they are genetically modified. They are also in many commercial dog foods.
I’m sitting across from a husband and wife that are on the verge of divorce. They’ve started arguing again and seem to have forgotten that I’m in the room. I’ve been in their home only 30 minutes and already I’ve been exposed to the most intimate details of their lives, the wife accusing her husband of wanting to be with the dog more than he wants to be with her and the husband telling her how ridiculous she sounds.
Positivity is powerful on so many levels. It improves communication, facilitates understanding, and promotes patience.

In the section on "human food," aside from the foods known to be toxic to dogs like grapes and chocolate, they are really referring to the refined, highly processed, junk and fast foods that many humans are eating these days.
If you cook using real, whole foods (again, excluding the known toxic substances), your dog can eat human food.
Cooking human grade food for my dog helped her recover from cancer and continue to thrive at the age of 15.
Adopting a pet is a big responsibility, and it will often change the life of the person adopting the pet. It will also, however, absolutely change the life of the pet being adopted as well. These pictures will show you how much difference a single day can make in the life of a pet that has finally been adopted.
Whole Dog Journal explains canine body language and though without words per say, your dog communicates emotions to you on a daily basis. You just have to learn how to pick up on certain signals and cues.
Dogs tell us when they feel stressed. The more aware you are of your dog’s stress-related body language, the better you can help him out of situations that could otherwise escalate to inappropriate and dangerous behaviors. Many bites occur because owners fail to recognize and respond appropriately to their dogs’ stress signals.
"According to the Journal of American Medicine, “Goat milk is the most complete food known.” It contains vitamins, minerals, electrolytes, trace elements, enzymes, protein, and fatty acids. In fact, the body can digest goat’s milk in 20 minutes. Having fat molecules one-fifth the size of those in cow’s milk makes it easily digestible and tolerable even for dogs with digestive issues."
