Lakeview Man: Fujifilm X-pro1 - the joy of the XF14mm f/2.8R wide angle lens!

Lakeview Man: Fujifilm X-pro1 - the joy of the XF14mm f/2.8R wide angle lens! | Fujifilm X Serie APS C sensor cameras | Scoop.it

So, finally I had some more time to test my newest purchase, the Fujifilm XF 14mm f/2.8R wide angle lens for my X-Pro1. The 14mm on Fuji's execellent X-trans crop sensor equals 21mm on a full frame sensor. This was the first time I had a full day to play with this lens. After using a 10-22mm wide angle zoom on my Canon 7D for some years, it was actually liberating to work with only one focal lenght!

Fujifilm 27mm Review / flixelpix

Fujifilm 27mm Review / flixelpix | Fujifilm X Serie APS C sensor cameras | Scoop.it

I have been using the Fujifilm 27mm pancake lens for almost a year and I am yet to actually give the lens the attention or acknowledgement it deserves. The Fujifilm 27mm lens has in a sense, become my much loved ‘off duty’ lens, tending to be my go-to lens for general days out exploring. As one of Fujifilm’s least expensive lenses the 27mm is deserving of attention especially by those photographers who really want to travel light.A review of the Fujifilm 27mm f/2.8 lens with the X-T1 camera. The ultra compact pancake lens with stunning bokeh is a great, low-cost everyday lens.

A set of traditional, colour wedding pictures shot on the Fuji X-T1

With a mirrorless camera like the Fujifilm X-T1 you can preview the exposure and white balance then adjust it to taste before you press the button. This means there are no ‘test’ images on your card. Just expertly exposed images with lovely colour to boot. In the days of SLRs we used to shoot and hope. Then we pressed playback and adjusted exposure or exposure compensation and had another test shot. After a second review we were usually ‘nearly there’ with exposure, flash power and white balance. Without the review steps it was ever so easy to end up with under flashed orange looking pictures that were near impossible to repair without resorting to black and white.

Moments from June 2014 Shot With Fujifilm X-serie / TOR MARTIN SØNDENÅ - fujiboys | Fujifilm X Serie APS C sensor cameras | Scoop.it

June was a hectic month. There were happenings and trips every weekend and not much time to sit down and relax.

I'm on a quest for a good flash system to be used with the X-series. So June brought a Fujifilm EF-42 and orders on lots of cool lighting stuff that now has started to arrive.

Visual Storytelling: Photographers need repetition to grow / stanley leary | Fujifilm X Serie APS C sensor cameras | Scoop.it

When I started the photos were horribly over exposing. I was shooting in aperture mode. I had Auto ISO chosen with a minimum shutter speed setting of 1/500.  I compensated the exposure by turning the EV to -1.7 and would fine tune it here and there based on the histogram.

Fuji X Pro 1 / Steven Coleman - Street Frame | Fujifilm X Serie APS C sensor cameras | Scoop.it

It has taken me 3 attempts to find what I consider to be the perfect camera for my needs, though I am still searching and looking for different ways to indulge in street photography. So where an I at the moment? Well I’m currently shacked up with the Fuji X Pro1. In my humble opinion the closest thing you’ll get to the classic rangefinder style that seems so engrained and used by photographers worldwide when shooting street style.

Using Shallow Depth of Field in Bright Sunshine / maclean comms | Fujifilm X Serie APS C sensor cameras | Scoop.it

One of the few problems I have with the Fujifilm X-Series cameras is the fact that it is difficult to take pictures using the brilliant fast prime lenses at the maximum aperture in bright sunshine.  There are two reasons for this; one - the fastest shutter speed is 1/4000s and the lowest ISO setting to record RAW files is 200.

I reckon the Allium has taken more than enough of the spotlight in the Four Seasons portfolio. Mind you, it’s a fascinating plant. Another DSLR to Mirrorless convert. Fujifilm XE2 review / oncamphoto | Fujifilm X Serie APS C sensor cameras | Scoop.it
Just a quick straight to the point real life feelings & review 6 months down the track since i left my DSLR & lenses in the dust.

The first thing i want to say is i have been taking photos for the past 10 years, im not a paid professional but have owned 4x DSLR bodies both Canon & Nikon and a very large range of lenses.

I ended up selling my Nikon & gear and after much debate about which mirrorless camera system to go with,  i ended up picking the Fujifilm system with the XE-2, here are just a couple of things i can say after the first 6 months of shooting!

A fast short-tele portrait lens is a “must-have” for many photographers, especially for those in the wedding and portrait industry yet for a long time, it was missing in the Fuji X Series lineup.  There are third party versions, and there’s also the sharp, compact XF 60mm F2.4 but nothing made by Fuji, below the F2.0 range.  As of spring 2014, that changed with the release of the XF 56mm F1.2 R lens, an optic that many have been patiently waiting for.Review of the Fuji XF 56mm F1.2 R lens: how does this short-tele perform and is it worth its asking price?

As you may or may not know the XF35mm is my ‘everyday’ lens but when it comes to landscape photography the XF10-24mm is my next ‘must-have’ lens. I used to use the XF14mm lens – which by the way is superb, but I’ve realised that I just cannot get enough of that ultra-wide 10mm setting.

One of the latest phenomena at the moment is that a large number of cameras, particularly the mirror-less models are going “retro” in that they are returning to the older control methods of the earlier film cameras. For example the return of the shutter speed dial, aperture rings (on the lens) and in some cases even an ISO dial. The best, and most extreme example of this is the Fujifilm X-T1.

LONG LENS LOVE AFFAIR - FUJI X-T1 AND THE 55-200 / andy gallacher

LONG LENS LOVE AFFAIR - FUJI X-T1 AND THE 55-200 / andy gallacher | Fujifilm X Serie APS C sensor cameras | Scoop.it

It was those numbers that initially put me off buying the Fuji XF 55-200 lens. I'd worked a lot with the Canon 70-200 MkII previously and with a constant f/2.8 aperture surely this lighter and much cheaper Fuji couldn't compare? The purchase was made back when I still had the X-Pro1 and a trip to the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador was booked. In the end it was the 55-200 that made it a memorable visit. The lens, which felt a little awkward on the X-Pro1, stayed on the camera for almost the entire time and constantly surprised me with its razor sharp images and creamy bokeh.

...[I] decided to look towards a cheaper alternative to the $999 Fuji 56 1.2 lens.

The best thing about the Fuji X series cameras is the focus peaking ability and the ease of use in manual focus, so i went looking towards the legacy alternatives where the 50mm focal length lenses are in abundance from the 35mm SLR film camera era, With the correct $15 lens mount adapter your in business.
