Fujifilm X100S Tips & Tricks - David Virtser

Fujifilm X100S Tips & Tricks - David Virtser | Fuji x100s | Scoop.it
My Fuji X100S is on its way to me. I’m so excited about it that I started to learn more about it before I actually got it. It took me a while to read all the articles in the Internet about the camera until I decided to order one and took some notes with all the useful pieces of information that I found in the Internet with references for myself. But I think that it would be a good idea to share this list with you in random order as I noted (some notes may repeat). I hope you can find something new and useful there for you too.

DPReview Gear of the Year - Fujifilm X100S | Digital Photography Review

DPReview Gear of the Year - Fujifilm X100S | Digital Photography Review | Fuji x100s | Scoop.it
Picking our favorite gear from among the great many new products announced every year is usually pretty tough, but this year, for me the choice was easy. The Fujifilm X100S is without doubt my favorite product of 2013. Fujfilm X100S - What I love: - 16MP X-TRANS sensor gives excellent image quality - virtually noiseless JPEGs up to ISO 3200. - 35mm (equivalent) F2 lens is sharp at all apertures and excellent for day-to-day photography. - Built-in Hybrid electronic / optical finder is luxurious and addictively useful. - Manual aperture, shutter and exposure compensation dials look classy, and are great to use. - On-sensor phase-detection AF means fast, accurate focus in most conditions. - Focus peaking and 'Digital Split Image' MF guides make manual focus easy.Reviewing the Fujifilm X100S was a great lesson for me in what I should and shouldn't try to take on. At first it seemed entirely feasible - it's not like I haven't reviewed a camera before, and I know its predecessor the X100 very well, so yeah - sure. I'll review it. I'll have it done in a month. No big deal.....

Street Photography with the Fujifilm X100S in Venice | Paul Rogers

Street Photography with the Fujifilm X100S in Venice | Paul Rogers | Fuji x100s | Scoop.it

I was fortunate enough to be sent to Treviso in Northern Italy this week for a portrait for The Times T2 section, only to discover on landing that the shoot had been cancelled. So I had almost 12 hours before my return flight with nothing to do. Thankfully I'd flown Ryan Air (never thought I'd use those words in the same sentence) which meant my carry on baggage was extremely limited, and so I'd taken only one Canon 5d MkIII and 3 lenses to cover the job. I'd decided to pack my Fuji X100S as a backup camera which turned out to be a great decision. I put my heavy DSLR and lenses in left luggage, along with my lighting equipment and hopped on a train to Venice with only the X100S and two batteries. I've never been to Venice, so really enjoyed wandering around with no agenda, just photographing what looked interesting. I did need to send some stock pictures of Venice back to the Times, but that was the only real requirement. It was a pretty overcast day, but the X100S really produces some lovely colour tones even in flat light. I used the back button manual focus method for the entire day and shot mostly at f/2.0. All images were shot as jpeg and processed in Lightroom. Here's some of my favourites from the day, including dawn from seat 12A somewhere above Italy......

The Fujifilm X shootout - X100s vs X-E1 | Philipp Abele

The Fujifilm X shootout - X100s vs X-E1 | Philipp Abele | Fuji x100s | Scoop.it
After multiple attempts of “We should one day go take some photos together” at work, we finally managed to get some people together to go a bit photographing. Freiburg im Breisgau it shall be! It’s small and lovely city in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. That’s in the SouthEast of Germany, close to France and Switzerland – you probably didn’t know and that’s fine, it’s not so famous. But now that you know you should really visit if you ever come to the region. Wait, stop being a Baden fan boy. There was an underlying goal for myself: I was going to compare the Fujis! So I left my “big guns” at home and brought along my Fujifilm X100s as well as the X-E1 with the Fujinon 35mm f/1.4 lens. It’s the same camera family, they look comparable, the menus look identical and still they’re two different beasts......

Fujifilm X100s: The Best Damn Camera I've Ever Owned | Mark Feenstra

Fujifilm X100s: The Best Damn Camera I've Ever Owned | Mark Feenstra | Fuji x100s | Scoop.it
It seems somehow wrong to say that something as silly as a piece of gear made me love photography in a completely new way, but the Fujifilm X100s did just that. I wasn’t able to get my hands on one before leaving for Bangkok, but when I learned that AV Camera had this guy in stock for cheaper than I would have paid in Canada, I took a trip over there and made the decision to wreck my budget by buying this little life-saver. It was so hot in Bangkok at that time of year, that I was finding it extremely difficult to hump my SLR and associated junk around town with it. The SLR felt obnoxious and intrusive, and the bag required to carry everything left me sweaty and exhausted. Switching to the X100s for my street photography gave me the opportunity to move freely and without burden, and to shoot in conditions that my D300 just couldn’t handle. I’m talking handheld ISO 5000 ƒ/2 at 1/60s after the sun has set. And the images at that ISO are GOOD. Not amazing, but completely useable for printing full page in most magazines or displaying on any website. What really got me was the fixed 35mm lens. I was very close to buying the Olympus O-MD E-M5, but I just didn’t want to deal with interchangeable lenses. I wanted simple, and the X100s delivers that in spades......

Fujifilm X100s | Not only Street Photography | Dennis Berti

Fujifilm X100s | Not only Street Photography | Dennis Berti | Fuji x100s | Scoop.it
I’m incredibly happy with my Fujifilm X100s, i think is the best carry-on mirrorless camera in the market, super light, silent and with this vintage style that i really love. There are many options in the market available for amateurs and professionals photographers, everyone should find the perfect match according his budget and needs. For what i was looking, this camera is perfect. I always use the optical viewfinder (OVF) except when i’m very close to the subject and i obviously switch to the electronic view finder (EVF) to avoid the parallax error. This camera fits in my pocket and i perfectly carry it with me all day long. Since i decided to shoot more during my days off and free times, i start to always carry the camera with me, whenever i’m going, trying to use it as a tool for street photography, a new world for me. After a few times i felt in love of the potential and power of the street photography. It’s weird but the Fujifilm X100s was the excuse to shoot more just for myself and for short-term projects. I could always bring with me my DSLR CAMERA but i consider it my tool for weddings, and yeah it’s a heavy tool to carry too, specially when i go out to take a walk. I also use prime lenses so i always ask myself which lens i want to use today....

Fuji X100S; Long Exposure | Donovan Bond

Fuji X100S; Long Exposure | Donovan Bond | Fuji x100s | Scoop.it

Long exposure photography is my favourite. I love the effect it creates with water and clouds, and it might be the last kind of photography that can’t natively be done with your smartphone, yet. I recently (finally) had a chance to put the X100S through its paces for long exposure photography and I came away very impressed. Here’s why.......
