Back to the Future – from the X100F to X100

Back to the Future – from the X100F to X100 | Fuji X Series Experience | Scoop.it
In recent posts we shared our thoughts and imagery shot exclusively with the brand new X100F. There is no question that the X100F is a major update to the last iteration, the X100T. In fact, we like the X100F so much we ordered the camera for ourselves.

When working on our review of the X100F (you can read it here) we had a chance to shoot all previous generations of this camera. It was just at that point, when I was holding the original X100 in my hands, that I got sentimental. Looking back I realized that  the original X100 was a truly revolutionary product for so many reasons.

My love with Fujifilm X cameras

As a professional photographer I used and still use lots of Canon gear, but somewhere in 201o at the Cologne Photokina I was first introduced with Fujifilm Digital Cameras.
My first Fujifilm camera was the original and very trendy Fujifilm Finepix X100. A rangefinder style camera with some unique features. Perfect for street photography and candids.
It had its quircks but opened a new perspective on photography for me. My love for the X-series started right then!

Elinchrom ELB400 Quadra Vs Profoto | Fuji X Series Experience | Scoop.it
I've been wanting a portable strobe solution for a while now. I finally pulled the trigger a couple of months ago on one of the nine solutions I was vacillating over. I've mentioned that was the Elinchrom ELB400 but most of that post was focused on why that vs speedlights.

REVIEW: Fujinon Wide Angle Primes

REVIEW: Fujinon Wide Angle Primes | Fuji X Series Experience | Scoop.it
You often see on Fujifilm forums and groups questions about which wide angle lenses are the best for landscapes and travel and I see a lot of different answers from people of varying expertise.  It is really down to the individual photographer to identify what they want to shoot and the best lens for them

One Fuji X-Pro 2 Image - 7 Different Raw Converters

One Fuji X-Pro 2 Image - 7 Different Raw Converters | Fuji X Series Experience | Scoop.it
I was recently working on a photo of Dublin’s famous Ha’Penny bridge that I
had taken with my X-Pro 2 and an idea came to me. I was processing the
image in Lightroom, and I wanted to see what it would look like in
different converters. As I’ve written so much about it, and as I had an
image that I was working on for a real world project, I thought that while
I was at it, I should try a whole bunch of different converters and see
what kind of results I got.

The New Fujicron: Fujifilm XF 50mm f/2 R WR

The New Fujicron: Fujifilm XF 50mm f/2 R WR | Fuji X Series Experience | Scoop.it
The new Fujifilm  XF 50mm f/2 R WR has finally arrived. The ‘Fujicron’ lens line-up (Fujifilm + Summicron) is almost complete, adding to the existing XF 23mm f/2 WR and XF 35mm f/2 WR (I don’t consider the XF 90mm f/2 R LM WR in the same series although the specs are similar). I had the opportunity to test this lens in conjunction with the new X-T20 body, and I was thoroughly impressed.Much like the XF 23mm f/2 and XF 35mm f/2, the lens is light and compact, the AF is dead silent, and the focus speed is fast and accurate. Many would compare this lens to the XF 56mm f/1.2, but it’s very different. At an 85mm full frame equivalent, the 56mm lens is clearly the beginning of what people would consider a ‘proper’ portrait lens. The 75mm equivalent focal length of the XF 50mm lens is somewhere in the middle between a short tele and a standard lens. Look up the 75mm focal length for the 35mm format, and the only lenses that come up are M mount rangefinder lenses made by Leica and Voigtlander (and a PL mount Leica cine lens). An unusual and not-so-common focal length indeed. How would one use this new lens? How should one use it? I don’t really care what it’s SUPPOSE to be used for; all I care about is how I CAN use it.

2 Months with the Fujifilm X100F

2 Months with the Fujifilm X100F | Fuji X Series Experience | Scoop.it
I’ve had a copy of the x100F since early November. During that time I kind of made it my go-to camera for just about anything and everything—from my more artistic professional shots, to travel, to basic family vacation images. This camera has been everywhere—from around my own home in Kentucky, to the Great Wall of China, to Disney World in Florida. I’ve thrown just about everything I could at it and the x100F delivered wonderful results.

What’s new on the X100F

What’s new on the X100F | Fuji X Series Experience | Scoop.it
About six years ago Fujifilm introduced the magical X100 which was received very well and gained a lot of followers. Over the years two successors, the X100S and the X100T were released. The form has not changed much and the concept of a fixed lens camera in a small body remains alluring up to today. In its fourth version, the X100F is a worthy evolution in the X100-series and one I am very happy to having had the opportunity to test. I am an official Fuji X-Photographer and had the opportunity to use a preproduction model of the X100F for a couple weeks. I got the X100F just about at the perfect time. Having been on the road for two months I felt drained and not very motivated to go out and shoot a lot. With the X100F I got a camera that fits in every pocket and I started taking it along everywhere again and shooting all the small little things of everyday life. It was a joy!

Fujifilm's Prime Lens Trinities: Which Is Right For You?

Fujifilm's Prime Lens Trinities: Which Is Right For You? | Fuji X Series Experience | Scoop.it
Fujifilm shooters find themselves in an interesting dilemma of late with there now being two clear prime trinity setups that one could choose from. On one hand you have the newer, weather sealed, and smaller F2 variants in 23mm, 35mm, and 50mm. On the other hand, you have the F1.4 23mm and 35mm, and the F/1.2 56mm.

Each trinity has its pros and cons, and each has uses that work better for some niches of photography than others. So today we wanted to look at Fujifilm’s two prime trinities and sort of break them down to share which you should be considering based on what you shoot and what you are looking for from your prime lenses.
