I just published part two of the mini-series from my Norwegian adventures on my profile on Exposure. This time from Lofoten. I’m pretty sure this is the best piece I have ever put together. An album with just the images will be up here on my webpage soon as well. (Below is a preview…)

Winter, cold, snow - who needs the weather sealed X-T1? Fujifilm X-Pro1 in cold weather | Lars Øivind Authen

Winter, cold, snow - who needs the weather sealed X-T1? Fujifilm X-Pro1 in cold weather | Lars Øivind Authen | Fuji X-Pro1 | Scoop.it

Living in Norway, I'm used to all kinds of weather. Rain, snow, tough winds and storms. Sometimes plus 25-30 degrees celcius in the summer, and down to minus 30 degrees celcius in the winter. So - I'm waiting in big anticipation for the upcomping Fujfilm X-T1 with its weather sealed body. My biggest concern is that it seems very small. I like the size of the X-Pro1. But, being weather sealed is a big plus. For now we only know of one weather sealed lens, the 18-135mm zoom, so perhaps I will wait a bit longer than the mid February release. Anyway - who says I have to wait? Today it was minus 18 degrees celcius, snow and wind - and my Fujifilm X-pro1 with the XF14mm f/2.8 and XF 35mm f/1.4 performed flawlessly....

On Christmas day I was out testing my Fujifilm X-pro 1 in a cold condition again. I was out for about 2 hours, and it was - 13 degrees celcius. The camera worked flawlessly. I love using this camera. All of these shots are done with Fujifilm X-pro1 with either the 18mm or 35mm lens (27mm and 53mm full frame). They are JPG shots using the Black&white yellow filter output option. The shots are from the Trysil area in south eastern Norway.

I’ve had the XE-2 for about 3 months now. I’ve put it through its paces, and I find that I pick it up more than my Nikons now. When I first picked it up, I had a D3s and D800 and was looking for something smaller for every-day use. It was perfect. I sold my D3s and picked up a Df hoping for a similar experience. I absolutely love the Df as well, but the XE-2 is just easy. I love the fact that I can take a picture on the XE-2, transfer it to my iPhone, pop it into VSCO or Snapseed, and have an awesome shot ready to toss on Instagram in a minute or two. I have taken more keepers with the XE-2 in the past 3 months than I have with my Nikons. Not to say I don’t use the Nikons or that I can’t make great images with them. I still carry one of them plus a couple lenses with me wherever I go since I only have the Fuji 35mm f1.4. In the case of this trip, I kept the Df with an 85mm and the D800 with a 35mm on the passenger seat next to the XE-2. I just didn’t use them as much. So here are my favourite images from 10 days in Norway, taken with the XE-2......

Fujifilm X Pro1 and X100s Street Photograpy in Oslo | Lars Øivind Authen

Fujifilm X Pro1 and X100s Street Photograpy in Oslo | Lars Øivind Authen | Fuji X-Pro1 | Scoop.it

On a dark november's evening like this I miss the Norwegian summer. So after posting lots of pictures from Thailand recently, I thought I'd post some street shots from Norway. These picutres were taken in Oslo during a thai food festival in June 2013 at Youngstorget. Some pictures are from the festival area, others from the streets nearby. Fast autofocus or not, I waited for this situation above to happen, and had already set my focus. I was waiting for one of the adults to move forward to give the street artist money. Then suddenly this girl with the colorfull dress and toy guitar jumped into the frame. Unfortuneatly I cut off the girls leg in the picture, but personally I like this anyway, with him following her with his eyes as she moves forward. I have posted this one before, but then it was the OOC JPEG which had blown out highlights in the background. This version is from the RAW file and post processed in Lightroom 5....
