X100S vs. 27mm ƒ/2.8 | Fuji vs. Fuji

X100S vs. 27mm ƒ/2.8 | Fuji vs. Fuji | Fuji X-Pro1 | Scoop.it

Possibly one of the most asked about comparisons before the 23mm ƒ/1.4 was announced was how the FUJIFILM X100S with its fixed 23mm ƒ/2 lens stacked up against the FUJINON XF 27mm ƒ/2.8 on an X-E1 (or X-E2). Fuji fans wanted to know—in order to get such a small camera package—did they need to buy an X100S, or would they be ok to add the 27mm ƒ/2.8 to their current body? The interchangeable lens and body combination is quite similar in size to the X100S (assuming one is using an X-E1 or X-E2), and slightly lighter at 428g compared to 445g for the X100S. Given the FUJINON 23mm ƒ/2 lens has been honed to work as well as possible with its conjoined body, there are bound to be differences in in how these two packages perform......

The Fujifilm XF 27/2.8 pancake lens-a mini review of a mini lens | Tony Bridge

The Fujifilm XF 27/2.8 pancake lens-a mini review of a mini lens | Tony Bridge | Fuji X-Pro1 | Scoop.it

These days I get asked a lot, it would seem, what camera to buy for travel or street photography. The conversation usually goes something like this:

Tell me, Tony, what camera should I buy? I want something light and portable, that I can put in my pocket. Easy, I reply. Use your Galaxy/iPhone/HTC/Windows Phone. I do. At that point their seriousphotographer genes rebel and protest. But I want a viewfinder. I like viewfinders. I need a viewfinder. And I want quality. I want to be able to make an exhibition/competitionwinning print. At that point I put away my BIGBOYSTOY gorilla suit, race for the nearest phone box and change into my silver lycra Captain Mirrorless uniform. (Swirls cape dramatically and returns to conversation…)

An APS-C sensor OK? Yes.

But portable? Yes.

How portable? I want it to fit in my pocket.

Easy, I reply. Use your Galaxy/iPhone/HTC/Windows Phone. I do.

Well…it doesn’t have to be that small. I want a real camera. With a viewfinder.....

Fujifilm XF 23mm F1.4 R real-world samples gallery | Digital Photography Review

Fujifilm XF 23mm F1.4 R real-world samples gallery | Digital Photography Review | Fuji X-Pro1 | Scoop.it

We've been shooting for a while with Fujifilm's latest X-system lens, the XF 23mm F1.4R, and have prepared a gallery of real-world samples. They cover variety of subjects and lighting conditions, and were all shot on the X-E2. We've also quickly summarised our impressions of the lens's handling and image quality below. The XF 23mm F1.4 R follows essentially the same design approach as the XF 14mm F2.8 R which we reviewed earlier this year. It's a solidly-made, metal-barrelled lens with a focus ring which can be pulled towards the camera to engage manual focus, revealing a distance and depth-of-field scale in the process. It also has an aperture ring with settings from F1.4 to F16 in one-third stops, plus an 'A' setting. Autofocus is pretty fast (especially on the X-E2), very quiet, and unerringly accurate......
