The Fujinon XF 18mm F2.0 R Lens Review For The Fuji X-Pro1 | findingrange.com

The Fujinon XF 18mm F2.0 R Lens Review For The Fuji X-Pro1 | findingrange.com | Fuji X-Pro1 | Scoop.it

As of now, there are only two lenses on the market that you can purchase with your Fuji X-Pro1. One is the XF 35mm F1.4 R lens, which seems to be the hot lens for the X-Pro1 now. The other is the XF 18mm F2.0 R lens, which is the wide angle sibling of the 35mm. If you could only buy one lens for your X-Pro1, which one should you buy?

Fujifilm X-Pro1, Camera Review, the full circle | Morten Byskov

Fujifilm X-Pro1, Camera Review, the full circle | Morten Byskov | Fuji X-Pro1 | Scoop.it
Let me get back to the point where I was struggling with the camera. To anyone out there looking to purchase it, do not expect a small SLR. I did not expect an SLR but after a couple of weeks of shooting with it I was had case of “cold feet” and was missing the responsiveness of and SLR. I wanted to see my shot on the LCD right after I took the shot, I wanted to be able to frame my shot properly. I didn’t want lens chatter, poor battery life and the somewhat quirky feel of the camera compared to an SLR. I wear +2 readers so checking the photo in the EVF after you shoot is okay but not great.

Dave Coffin's dcraw output | Fujix Forum | Fuji X-Pro1 | Scoop.it
A while ago I mentioned that Dave had updated his test version of dcraw to include a few new cameras. I had forgotten about this as my camera turned up, but prompted by the ongoing discussion regarding the slowness of raw support from the majors, I went through the hassle of building it on my Mac using MacPorts and tried it out.

To extract a Tiff file from a .RAF and use the camera-decided white balance, I used this command ...

A Day with the Fujifilm X-Pro 1 | Kris Phan - optical collimator

A Day with the Fujifilm X-Pro 1 | Kris Phan - optical collimator | Fuji X-Pro1 | Scoop.it

I’d not had the time to really play with my X-Pro 1 until now. To me, the Fujifilm X-Pro 1 appears pretty much like the classic Contax G2—the one and only AF rangefinder camera. In conclusion, I do like the X-Pro 1 as a camera for street photography. The X-Pro 1 is not only giving me good pictures but it also makes me look good taking pictures with it. As I commented earlier, the X-Pro 1 isn’t a perfect camera, but I do have faith in Fujifilm. They have the technology and they are holding the key to future mirrorless cameras. Probably the next X model will bring us more pleasure; still, the Fujifilm X-Pro 1 is worth every dime I’d invested in it.

As well tell you, I fell in love. This is a very beautiful compact / hybrid. An aesthetic success, which fills us in addition by the image quality. Its plumage is warbling. A real "Leica Like", which for now suffers from a lack of optical. But the roadmap FUJI promises many good things to come. We just have to wait a bit. And perhaps as adapter rings will expand the range by grafting 4/3 or more frames? Go figure ... Be aware that FUJI has opened the doors to other optical manufacturers (Tamron, Sigma ...) X-Pro1: Fuji Love | Cyclopedia Creative Media | Fuji X-Pro1 | Scoop.it
Despite all of this, all I ever want to do is to shoot with this camera. Being a photographer in Durham NC can sometimes mean shooting the same scenery over and over but the X-Pro1 has made me dream of going out and capturing photos daily. I have owned several DSLRs and none given me this much enthusiasm about shooting. Since I have had this camera I have began to dream up trips. Over seas and here in the states, this camera makes me want to seek out new subjects and locations. My family is tired of me sticking the Fuji in their faces, but I can’t get enough.
For everything that this camera isn’t, it is my new love….

Lexar Professional 64GB 400X SDXC Card Speed in Fuji X-Pro1 | diglloyd.com

Lexar Professional 64GB 400X SDXC Card Speed in Fuji X-Pro1 | diglloyd.com | Fuji X-Pro1 | Scoop.it

I tested the 64GB card against Lexar Professional 32GB 133X SDHC card for speed in the Fuji X-Pro1:

The Fuji X-Pro1 was set for high frame rate mode, and popped off a full 23 frames in RAW + Fine mode, plus a latent 24th frame also, after I lifted my finger. Each image was about ~33 MB of data for the RAW + JPEG.

FujiFilm X Pro-1: A Few More Quick Thoughts... | The Travel Photographer

FujiFilm X Pro-1: A Few More Quick Thoughts... | The Travel Photographer | Fuji X-Pro1 | Scoop.it

Having now looked at a couple of my good images from the X Pro-1, I believe their quality to be really stellar. I use the Fujinon 18mm f/2.0 XF R lens which I'm very comfortable with. It's the equivalent to a 27mm and fits my style of shooting, especially in the streets of New York City. But I would prefer a lens equivalent to a 24mm f2.0. I explored the various film simulation modes it offers, and was especially impressed by its Velvia-like mode...a vivid high saturation mode. The image accompanying this post was made using that film mode.

Fuji X-Pro 1 Goes South of the Border | David Patrick Valera | Fuji X-Pro1 | Scoop.it
Well it’s no secret that I’m a newly converted fan of the Fuji X-Pro1. Again, the image quality is amazing. I’m looking forward to the upcoming zoom lenses and the EF-X20 flash I have on order.
Fuji has successfully achieved what they set out to do by designing the next generation of lightweight and attractive mirrorless cameras that can compete with the image quality of a DSLR including the venerable 5DMK2. Portable and discreet, this is a great implement to add to your tool chest for street photography, travel or everyday all around shooting.

Fuji X pro 1 preview | Frank Doorhof - fashion/glamour photographer

Fuji X pro 1 preview | Frank Doorhof - fashion/glamour photographer | Fuji X-Pro1 | Scoop.it

So I like the camera… well yes. Are there things I don’t like…. yes. I love RAW and although the JPEGs are really (and I mean REALLY) nice I still want to be able to use my RAW files natively. At the moment I have no other option than use Silkypix, not even the Adobe DNG convertor supports the files, the X10 has the same problem although there at least I can convert them to DNGs (ok scenario but still not preferred). Silkypix is ok but let’s be honest it’s another program and time is limited so I would love to just open them up in Aperture or lightroom. At the moment (again only after 2 days of use) this is my main objection to the camera and it’s something that Fuji told me is being worked on so I believe them and I hope that within a few weeks we will have an option to go to DNG or even better an update from Apple that will support the X10 and X pro 1 natively.

Fuji X-Pro1 Diaries: Down By The River

It was a sweltering day, despite the tropical thunderstorm in the morning. By noon, the puddles of water on the pavements and roads had all but dried up, leaving no evidence that just a couple of hours before, it was raining down cats, dogs and other assorted animals. The heat from the ground formed a swirling haze and people took shelter in the relative cool of the shade....

Fuji X-Pro1 vs Olympus OM-D low light focus test | Steff Huff on YouTube

Just a quick rough video to show what I have been talking about. The X-Pro 1 has issues focusing in low light while other cameras do not. I like the camera and it's output but the AF has frustrated me on many occasions. When you miss shots, it is no fun.

Fujifilm X-Pro1 mirrorless camera review | Sharif Sakr - engadget.com

Fujifilm X-Pro1 mirrorless camera review | Sharif Sakr - engadget.com | Fuji X-Pro1 | Scoop.it
The Fujifilm X-Pro1 is a work of art, and like any masterpiece there'll be some who hate it and others who get into heated bidding wars. If you're sensible and price-conscious, then by rights you should be waiting for the auctioneer to bring out the Olympus OM-D E-M5. Or you should be looking at the X100, or even considering a DSLR, before investing this amount of money. But if the retro form factor befits your personality, you have an abundance of cash and you care about the subtleties of the sensor's output, a powerful viewfinder and great controls, then there's every reason to buy in.

Serious Compacts Podcast: Fuji X-Pro 1 | Amin Sabet

Serious Compacts Podcast: Fuji X-Pro 1 | Amin Sabet | Fuji X-Pro1 | Scoop.it

Tonight Ray Sachs, Terry Banet, Bob D'Amico, and Armando Chiu joined me on the podcast to discuss the Fuji X-Pro 1, a camera which all of them have owned. The discussion goes nearly 2 hours this time, so probably not something anyone would listen to in a sitting, but we had a great discussion of all things X-Pro 1 and then some. Towards the end of the podcast (1:31:31), Ray has a surprise confession.
